I agree with the other poster about giving Azalea a chance to grow on you !I have known Keith "The Owner" for many years and Yes I have seen his personality clash with some customers and some employees as well, Heck I have even had my own issues with him. However The more you get to know keith the more you will learn to see beyond that and you will realize that he really does care about the business and his customers and their tanks & fish.As far as the Fish Quality goes, I would say Azalea does a good job. Azalea has a good african selection, and yes I totally agree he has nice show fish that are not for sale but if I had a show tank I would not upset the balance and remove or add fish to that display. Yes I know people want to buy those fish, however with Africans in particular its NOT a very good idea to keep upsetting the balance of tank mates which is why he does not sell out of those displays. He may have too many display tanks but he owns the store and he ejoys them so thats his choice to have them.Personally I would like to have a few of those Display fish myself but it just makes me buy a younger one and enjoy watching them grow up ! He will always get you what is on display if you ask. It may be younger, it may not be next week but he will normally find you the fish if you ask him to.Azalea has the best discus in town. Hands down nobody else compares !In fact. Nobody comes close !Azalea always has a good Fresh Water collection and they get in alot of oddball fish that you will not see in other stores. Most stores do not have the Tank Space that Azalea does to even try and have that many fish on display. Note they always have good oddball Plecos something that I really enjoy that I never see at the other shops in town. The Salt Water selection may not be as big as some of the Salt Only Stores but often the prices are more than fair and the fish are also often there longer so they are very solid when you take them home. Actually recently they have grown their salt livestock selection quite a bit. Do they get in High End Corals and super expensive rare fish. Nope thats not Azaleas speciality but they do get in some good livestock at great prices.Af far as the tanks go I have no idea what someone was talking about as Dirty Tanks with algae on them. OLD yes, Some outdated equipment , yes, but dirty and Algae Blooms is something I have never seen. In fact considering the number of tanks azalea has most of them are pretty darn healthy .I have been an Azalea customer for 30 Plus Years and I have never seen some of what the other poster wrote. And I am in the store on a pretty regular basis. On livestock Azalea also puts the prices on the tanks and in most cases the dates on the day the fish arrived as well. I like to know what something cost without asking and I like to know how long it has been at the store as well.Im not a big fan of buying a fish that just arrived the day before. Especially Salt Water Fish that may have not become acclimated to living in a tank or may not even be eating yet. I have seen Keith refuse to sell a fish because it just arrived and he wanted to make sure it was going to be OK before it was sold. Compared to another shop on southside that will sell you a fish out of the bag as soon as it arrives to the highest bidder and worse yet they will price fish different to different customers based on how rich they think you are. No names mentioned but I will never go back after seeing some of that happens in that store, even if they do have some nice fish. Bottom line is Azalea is a good place to shop, and once you learn the owners personality you will actually learn to like him. I trust him to the point that last time I took vacation he actually came over and fed my fish. (About 8 Tanks in my house at the time) Give them a chance and they will grow on you !
