Emergency Care
Pediatric care offered at Pediatric Center includes the following treatments: ADD/ADHD, asthma, common cold, influenza, allergies, hives, eczema, ear pain, fever, throat pain, stomach pain, infant reflux, colic, and many other pediatric illnesses. Pediatric Center also offers same-day sick appointments for your child during our office hours. We believe it is important to give parents peace of mind that their child can be seen by a pediatrician or pediatric provider during our office hours instead of going to the emergency room or urgent care facility, unless absolutely necessary.
Pneumonia
All infants spit up to some extent. The diagnosis of reflux is only given when the spitting up becomes excessive. As long as a child gains weight and grows, the reflux is more of a messy nuisance than a medical problem. The infant will eventually grow out of it. Some children with neurologic problems may have more difficulty reflux when they lose weight or when the food gets into the lungs, causing aspiration pneumonia. Most reflux is diagnosed by observing symptoms rather than performing a study. An upper GI is the most common study since it will differentiate reflux from more severe
Immunizations
Hepatitis B is a devastating illness. There is no cure, and therapy is minimal. The illness can go on for years before any symptoms develop. Although there may not be any obvious symptoms, the virus continues to be transmitted. Every year, 10,000 people are hospitalized in the United States with Hepatitis B, and 400 people die yearly. Hepatitis B is the second-most common cause of cancer after cigarette smoking. Once exposed, the incubation period is two to five months. Symptoms will develop at some point after that, but it can be decades. The only way to combat this illness is through prevention. Prevention is through vaccination. The Hepatitis B vaccine has been given successfully since 1990. Side effects are extremely rare and usually mild.

The eyes will be checked for a red reflex (when light reflects off the retina, as is seen sometimes in pictures). A lack of a red reflex can indicate a cataract or something obstructing vision. The eyes will be checked for strabismus (the eyes pointing in different directions). A blocked tear duct can cause watering, crusting, and discharge of the eye.

Can be performed. This is where a scope is placed down the mouth and into the esophagus and stomach. The doctor can then look at the walls of the esophagus to see if there is any damage resulting from the acid reflux.
