This is an old school southern comfort restaurant: all fried or smothered (or both) good basic home cooking in giant portions and reasonable prices.Old atmosphere, waitstaff and hokey gimmicky looking surroundings at to the effect.Staff are attentive, food is ok, salads are huge, grilled chicken is average, meatloaf is uninspired, overall very average.

I went to Grand Prairie United Charities for help to pay for my motel stay because I ran out of money due to economic hardship. They helped me the first time for a week. I am a very educated degreed individual. I have never in my life been so humiliated and degraded in my entire life. The direct…
Service was great. Really friendly waitress good conversation. The food was lacking compared to the other locations I've been to though.
I ordered the El Shady burger: mix in Chorizo with the burger and add fried jalapeños and a fried egg. Plus an order of Frings (fries and onion rings). The burger was good: a little overcooked for me so I found it dry (lean meat perhaps). Fries with skins (my favorite) were good but a little limp (under fried), onion rings are over breaded (like I like them).Looks like I got stuck with a day old bun: yuck! So they only get three stars from me for that infraction. Lazy cook.Great patio: should be fun in good weather.
Ordered the Chili Burger, medium (they make it any way you want it, even burnt). These are big half pounders in a bun that matches their size perfectlyThe chili was tasty as was the burger: my only problem was the high salt content. I couldn't tell if it was the Chili or the patty. I can feel my fingers swelling up as I type this in.Don't forget the beer.
Love the Shady Burger and fries, very cool place in Richardson to hang out in the evening
The owner here is a real piece of work. I used to bring my son here about once a week after school. Service was consistently slow but decent. One day we decided to order dinner to go being as we had never had dinner there and only ordered from the lunch menu we ordered items that were on the lunch menu. The call taker took my order no problem. But when I made it to the bar to pick my food up the female owner was there. She told me I could not order from the lunch menu at dinner time. Her attitude was so bad that it immediately rubbed me wrong. I told her that another manager had told me before that the kitchen does special orders. she informed me that she was the owner and I couldn't. Her rudeness was totally over the top and unnecessary. We haven't been back.
Avoid this place! The back room dinning, the A/C was leaking and it seems for a while, it made the dining room smelled bad, they had buckets catching the water. The place over all looked unkept and dirty. We were seated the rear dinning room, near the kitchen door, there were bugs on the wall, vents were filthy and dust all over in the corners. The seats were all ripped and trashy. Food was served cold and the waiter was VERY slow. I had the Chorizo Nachos, the topping were thin, 3/4 of the chips had nothing on them, everything was thinly put on top. This place is SO run down and nasty, I say STAY AWAY!
Poboy for lunch: Gumbo-Fried Shrimp. Way too messy to eat with my hands today since I have to go back to work so I devoured it with a fork&knife (real cutlery here, no plastic).A very tiny and small space: so if you insist on taking up a table be nice and share it with other patrons. Nobody likes a table-hog.
I really enjoy the salads and service at Snappy Salads. I am thrilled that they've opened one in Richardson and hope that everyone in the Prairie Creek and surrounding neighborhoods supports this new business location.
I go here 2 or more times a month the food is delicious and the ever changing weekly specials are amazing. Oh and you have to try the beignets!
