Overall
Good food!

This place is good. If you are looking for a casual Italian place this is it. They were busy but we were seated and ordered right away. There was a little wait on our food, but worth it!

Good choice. One plus during the summer they are open on Sunday afternoons! We like Chef Supreme, Mama Mia and Chicken Alfredo. They offer a lunch pizza buffet during the week.

I don't know who gave this pla...

I don't know who gave this place a mere 1-STAR (without leaving a review, notably), but I can tell you that we just happened upon this lil' gem while we were visiting Branson. I can tell you that these guys know what they're doing. All the food we had was excellent, but the real standout was their wonderful dough. I asked the owner how long they proofed their dough, and they said that their recipe calls for at least 36 hours to develop the depth of flavor that is so obvious on first bite that you find yourself savoring every bite... but really looking forward to the springy, crisp on bottom, beautifully browned and blistered on top.



Top that beautiful crust with a fresh sauce made from crushed tomatoes and (mostly fresh) toppings and you've got some of the best pizza in this part of world. My only tiny, miniscule complaint was that their margherita pizza was made with dried basil instead of fresh. Yet, my Greek pizza had fresh baby spinach on it, which was delightful.



We finished off our meal with a fabulous chocolate layer cake (top with smooth chocolate ganache) made by a local bakery. This willingness to support other local businesses brought 'em all the way home to the star rating they earned and so richly deserve.

great food & atmosphere

Had dinner with family (8 people) 10/21/11. Restaurant was very busy but Chef & his staff did a good job of serving patrons and turning tables. Supreme, Hawaiian & cheese pizzas were all delicious, as well as the salads. Good serving portions for $; you won't leave hungry.

Pizza by the Chef began as Pizza Chef, opening its doors to Branson West in 1992. Located in Claybough Plaza at the junction of HWY 13 and 76, this was one of the first pizza restaurants located in the Branson West-Kimberling City area. Still at the same location, Pizza by the Chef-Branson West uses years of experience to better serve their customers. A second store was opened in 1999, by different owners in Hollister. This restaurant was the third business to open in the newly developed Southtowne Center on HWY 65. The addition of Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse to Southtowne Center has increased awareness and traffic in this still developing retail area. In 2002, both restaurants changed their name from Pizza Chef to Pizza by the Chef. The name change did not change the years of established tradition in service and pizza quality. As an independent pizza restaurant, Pizza by the Chef continues to focus on quality and service. Our pizza is cooked in a traditional brick lined deck oven, not a quick cook conveyor belt oven. The pizza dough is made on-site, from scratch daily, not from a mix or a pre-made frozen crust. Our pizza sauce is made in-house, from scratch as well using our own recipe. Our sub sandwich bread is made from scratch and baked daily in each store. Vegetable for our pizzas and salads are fresh, prepared in-house, not frozen. Our salad dressings, like our other items, are made from scratch, in-house, using our own secret recipes.
