Latisse is manufactured by Allergan. It was approved by the FDA in 2008 for use on the upper lashes. Dermabrasion is a process of actually sanding the skin. Acne Treatment
Severe acne flare-ups and breakouts, coupled with nodulocystic acne inflammation, often result in acne scars. This teenage-aged patient with severe nodulocystic acne also had severe scarring from his acne. Dr. Umar first treated his nodulocystic acne with monthly photodynamic acne treatment (PDT) using Levulan and the VBeam laser, followed by treatments of acne scarring using Fraxel DUAL laser.

The abrasion occurs through the use of microscopic particles, such as finely ground magnesium salt crystals which are shot onto the skin to cause a gently removal of the outer skin layer and allow new cells to surface. This is a mild process that would not significantly improve the appearance of acne scars.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin condition which affects 2.2% of the U.S. population. It is marked by patches of redness covered in scaly plaques of a silver color. It is caused by rapid cell turnover in the outer layer known as the epidermis. Normally kerotinocytes which produce a protein known as keratin mature move from the lower layers of the epidermis to the top within a month. In psoriasis patients, this process takes about four days.
