It is hard to believe that a supposed reputable radiology practice such as Dakota Radiology allows a billing dept. to wipe their hands of situations and defer to the “automated” calls for collections that occur as a record on file. That’s customer service and personal attention for a $650 (x-ray only) emergency hospital visit. I am an executive for a large healthcare organization and if we carried on our business like this, we would no longer have a business. They need to recognize if the patients are not informed they are a separate entity with separate billing for radiology services how can they expect their patients to ever keep it straight. You call one office think you have it taken care because they tell you they are all associated but in reality they are all a separate entity, billing separately and definitely have different trainings and standards for customer service. South Dakota Regional and Lead hospital billing dept. have been great and understanding with the confusion and have bent over backwards trying to help resolve and work with us and in turn I want to pay them what is owed in a timely manner. Customer service and compassion for an unforeseen incident goes a long way, maybe a course is offered that the Dakota Radiologist can enroll their Dakota Radiology billing department in. Give your customers (yes that is what we are) a break we are not all trying to get out of paying our bills, many times we just are searching for who and what we owe not knowing the doctor you see in the hospital bills separately, the hospital bills separately and radiology bills separately. I feel for our older generation how and who helps them decipher through this madness???
The worst! I never received a bill from them for $17.34. They sent it to collections and that's who I received a bill from so I called collections because I had no idea why I had this charge. They told me who it came from and when I called Dakota Radiology they said they sent me one and called me (they never called me). I told them since it wasn't my fault they should be able to reverse it so I can pay them and not collections and all the lady said was "my hands are tied". She was very rude and unhelpful. I would have gladly paid my bill to them if they would have gave me the chance but instead they sent it to collections without tryinig to contact me first. The reason I didn't know I had a bill from them is because apparently Lead Deadwood Hospital (who is also very unhelpful do not send the x ray bills out to the patient, they go through DR). They don't even deserve one star. Rude and unhelpful customer service!
Excellent facility, friendly caring staff. Minimal wait time. Nice clean building. Very knowledgeable and professional. MRI machine above average size. I was pleased both times I went in and was treated well. A very high standard of care and safety with professional results.
