I bought an 08 Toyota Tundra from Rapid Motors after I bought the truck they called me a few days later and said that my bank would not approve me. I told them that I would come in and talk to them. When I came in to talk to them I told them that I would just give them their truck back and I would take mine back and after I held my job for a few more months I would come in and try to make a deal with them. They then told me that I signed paper work saying that they could take the financing to any bank they wanted and I basically had no choice in the matter. Then after a few minutes of arguing about this they called the cops on me and had me escorted out of their building. After about a month of fighting over this they decided to give me my truck back if I paid for what they had into my old truck. I agreed to this when I came in they told me that they had 700 dollars into my old truck and asked how I wanted to pay for this. I said well first can I see the receipts before I pay 700 dollars. They told me that they didnt have the receipts but they would mail them to me. I told them that it was sketchy and they told me that they would not work with me then and kicked me out of their building. Since this day they have been giving me harassing phone calls and threatening that if I am even one day late on my payment that they will come repossess my truck. STAY AWAY FROM RAPID MOTORS!
Bought an ’04 Ford pickup from Rapid Motors in Rapid City, SD and was promised many things including putting gas in it and having the shop look at the engine and make sure there were no "codes" coming up.
After all papers were signed they said they never said anything about gas and any other offers (getting a service check on the engine, etc). Isn’t it funny, I had to push the truck into the gas station as it ran out 10 yards away from the station which was not even a mile from the dealership. I had to borrow a diesel can to put fuel in just to be able to pull it in to fill it up. Truck price $22,000 fill up price $60.00 satisfied customer price: keep their promises.
That was problem number 1.
Problem number 2: The truck broke down 2 weeks after buying it. I called 3 to 4 times per day for an entire month to try to get a hold of someone in charge. I never got a return phone call. The dealership is 90 miles away and with out a running vehicle I could not just go there.
So, I wrote 2 letters with no response.
After owning the truck for nearly a year and after I spent $4,000 trying to fix the vehicle, the engine is finally seized. Things that broke on the vehicle, according to Ford, “should” have triggered a “check Engine” light. (wonder if they were responsible for that).
I had the truck tested at a shop and there were all kinds of "codes" on their computer they use to tell a mechanic what is wrong with the vehicle. Injectors 4 & 7 were bad the EGR system was bad and looked like it had been tampered with so it would at least run to sell, etc.
My husband was about to purchase a truck from this dealership but luckily we learned the real truth about these people before he signed the papers. He was test driving the truck & a rain storm happened to occur when he was getting off work. He got in the truck & when he took off down the road the rain water started pouring in through the sunroof. He called the salesman to tell him about the problem & the salesman offered to fix it but we decided that this was a major problem & one that would more than likely continue to happen even if they "tried" to fix it so we decided not to buy the truck. The salesman got really angry because we decided not to buy the truck & even had the nerve to tell my husband that he wasn't sticking to his word because we didn't buy the truck(even though we discovered a major problem!). If they think they have a sale they are polite & courteous but if something happens & you back out they turn into monsters! I would definitely recommend that you stay away from this place!
