Did a great job and Thank you so much!! The guys really went the extra mile and helped us out!

We made our trip as planned up north and enjoyed waving to folks in our VW in Arcadia Park.

Very Frustrating, Never Again.

Very Frustrating, Never Again.

Avoid this place, estimates and quotes do not mean anything, Only opens the bank account and will NOT get jobs completed. You will not be happy.

Not Satifisfied

It is no doubt in my mind that Sean is passionate about his work. I also have no doubt that Sean is capable of doing excellent work. If one is mechanically inclined and on a budget, however, the shop may not be for you. Sean gave me direct evidence of how much work he has coming his way and my sense is that he's overwhelmed. I think he's a nice guy and will try to help others out, but will also get himself in a bind and produce substandard work. Like others who have given feedback, Sean and his staff have performed work without authorization and are quite comfortable billing for it. Once you have your car apart in his shop, the ball is fully in his court and I felt I had to be pleasant while being disappointed in the change in timeline, price and quality of work.

I am strong mechanically, but I have friends and family who are much stronger. They saw some things on the car that they considering given time would evolve to be downright hazardous. One thing in particular was Sean's solution to being in a bind where he did not estimate for the work and it was significant resolve. When he had the car apart, it is my expectation that he could have tested for the issue that put him in a bind, but didn't do so. When my family member pointed out the issue, I went to task researching solutions on the internet and implemented a quality solution in a few hours one Saturday. My expectation of Sean is that he would have the experience to offer the solution I found with some internet searching instead of the hazardous hack he put in my car.

Following on the start of this post, if you are not on budget or timeline, I think Sean has been and remains a good shop to go to. For everyone else, my perspective is that he has more business than he can handle and you will not be satisfied.

First Class

After searching for many days to find a suitable shop to take my 1956 Beetle, I decided on Transporter Werks. Sean Fraser, owner/operator, and I spent many hours searching for the best route to restore my Beetle after its rear end collision. He was honest and his estimates were true. First class work at a price we can all afford, even in these times.

Since the restoration, the car has gone on to win multiple awards, including Judges’ Choice. Whether it’s a complete restoration, collision repair, or customization, Transporter Werks can do the job and do it right.

Outstanding!

My experience with Transporter Werks has been outstanding! I purchased a Westfalia in Arizona and had it shipped directly to their garage in Raleigh. Sean and his crew handled everything from getting the van unloaded from the truck to replacing the motor. They are true VW enthusiasts who know these vehicles and can be trusted to do the job right.

High Quality!!!

The folks at Transporter Werks have cared for my ’73 VW Camper and my ’74 Porsche 914 as if they owned them for over nine years. From simple valve adjustments to full frame-up restorations, I know their recommendations, parts and service will be of the highest quality. Everyone at Transporter Werks has always bent over backwards to meet my needs, and I wouldn’t consider taking my vintage German vehicles anywhere else… despite living 50 miles away.

Wonderful experience!! Very professional!!

When people ask me about Transporterwerks and Sean, I often reply with the following--'Name a person or business that you would let hold thousands dollars without a concern. That is Transporterwerks.'-- I have thousands of dollars invested in my vans not to mention an emotional attachment. Sean treats them better than his own. He recommends solutions that work, and if there isn’t a solution readily available he works with you to figure one out. Try to find someone that can install a new TDI and 2 in lift kit in an '87 Syncro and can turn around a do a custom 2100cc engine and disk brake package on a '64 21 window! Thanks Sean!!

vw service

I recently brought a friend to pick up his car that this shop repaired, I was very impressed with a sand rail that they were working on while I was there, So Impressed that I'm considering having them Install the same Fuel injection system on my VW powered dune buggy. The mechanic was very knowledgeable and informative about the work he was doing and didnt seem to mind a bit that I had 50 question, My friend was very happy with the work done to his car and the charges seemed reasonable. I'll defineatly use them in the future

4 year customer

i have been going to transporter werks since i first got my vw ('72 beetle) 4 years ago, and i am completely satisfied with all aspects of the service i received. Sean and his crew at transporter werks have done a range of repairs on my beetle: body work, rust repair, engine, carburetor anything i've needed. They were all straight up and very helpful. I've been in Virginia and South Carolina and still use Transporter Werks for any repairs or maintenance that i need that i can't do myself.

the bills that i've gotten over the years have always been very reasonable. before each big project, (the engine swap, floor pan rust repair, and paintjob/body work after a fender bender) Sean would give me a fair estimate of what he expected the job to take but cautioned that ya just never know what you're going to find.

after each job, sean would always tell me to give him a call if there were any hitches and that he'd take care of 'em. i never had to take him up on the offer (all his work has served me well over the years) but i'm sure if i did he would take care of it.

overall, Transporter Werks has been a true asset over the years. they are honest, fair, and extremely knowledgeable

Don't do it.

Do not go to this place for any kind of repairs. Seriously, it is a rip off and he will do it with a smug smile. Doesn't give estimates, then when you show up, he has already fixed it standing there with a bill in hand. Twice, I've been taken for. First time I let it slide believing him, but the second time was ridiculous. $750 for ball joint repair! If I can deter one person not to get ripped by him, it will be worth it. good luck!

Not Recommended for service/repair

I have worked on, owned and raced vw's all my life. I recently had shoulder surgery and could not work on my 1970 Westfalia (vw van) I converted to a watercooled motor. I wanted it fixed in time to drive to an event in the mountains. It needed a throw out bearing replaced. a simple job remove engine replace the bearing and anything we felt that it needed before reinstalling. After a few weeks sitting at the shop I started calling. I was lied too a few times, next week, tomorrow, ""checked it out"". They couldn't even find the key when I showed up unannounced. I found it! I know how busy it gets around a shop so after talking to Shawn I thought I could rely on his/ his shops work, he seems very knowledgable about vw's, I enjoyed talking to him. I should have listened people that have asked me to work on their cars after taking it here. I had a bill for over $4,000 when I picked my van up SHOCKED! and I was told I would have to just get in it and drive because the fuel injection was acting up, but it would clear up after driving it a short time. There was also a wining noise when I started it up. I immediately knew it was coming from the bearing and clutch that they replaced. At that point I knew I had been had. I did'nt say anything at the time because I knew I can fix it myself, a few adjustments. So I sucked it up and held my tongue, I did not want my van back in that shop I wanted it home. I was charged for fabricating work that I know now was not done. I did see some new bolts, I was also over charged for several parts and especially the labor which was most of the bill. A day later and it wouldn't even start. Since I have had to fix or tighten most of their work and even replace parts. I continue to find problems with their work the more I drive it. It makes me sick to think that I paid so much for such a crappy job from someone I thought I could trust. Don't go here for any work on your VW if the work is difficult maybe just guidance and advice.
