Dr. Dave Olson is the BEST! We live more than 30 minutes away from the practice but would still drive twice that distance to see him. We have two children and although most of our visits have been for routine care, we have absolutely called on them in an emergency capacity a couple of times. The office decor and setup is totally geared toward children and the staff is attentive, responsive and patient. Our children have had zero fear because everyone there is so thoughtful about taking each visit at the child's pace - not the office's schedule. We recommend them without reservation.
Would definitely recommend. I've been taking my 2 children (currently ages 7 and 9) to Dr. Dave for over 4 years. My youngest was very timid at the beginning and the hygienists and Dr. Dave were all very patient with him. Dr. Dave explained that they can clean and check his teeth without "forcing" him to lie back in the chair (my ds hated that at first) and they explain the procedures to the kids on a kid's level so that it's not so scary to them. Both my kids have no problems with going to the dentist. Everyone in the office has always been very pleasant. I love the way Dr. Dave and the hygienists talk and explain things to the kids instead of talking "over" them to me.

We have been going to RPD for over 4 years. I have recommended Dr. Dave to my friends. My kids have absolutely no fear of going to the dentist. Dr. Dave and the hygienists are very patient and talk to the kids and at their level- they tell them about what they are getting ready to do, they let them touch the instruments, etc. They make it enjoyable and not so scary for the kids. We've never had a problem on any visit.
I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY 2 KIDS, AND I HAVE TWO INSURANCES FOR DENTAL. THE FRONT DESK ADVISED ME TO PAY 'UPFRONT' . WHY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT WHEN I HAVE 2 DENTAL INSURANCES. A YOUNG WOMAN WHO WAS A FORMER EMPLOYEE STATED THAT THIS WAS A PROCESS TO "WEED" OUT THE CLIENTS WHO HAVE CANCELLED OR WAS LATE FOR THEIR APPOINTMENTS, IN HOPES TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. wow !!!!
We ask for initial visits to be paid upfront and we submit the claim to insurance. Refund checks are then issued on the 1st and 15th each month. At future visits, parents only pay the difference if there is one at all. This is used to establish a relationship and avoid having a collection issue with new families.
We LOVE Dr Dave and the hygentists at Raleigh Peds Dentistry. All 3 of my kids have had great experiences there and actaully look forward to going to the dentist. We have been going for almost 5 years. Yes, in the beginning we did have some long waits and a couple of rescheduled appts at the office's conveinence, but in the last couple of years the waits have been 5-10 minutes MAX and the office staff seems to have it togheter. Regardless, we love the dentist so much we refer friends there all the time.
I took my daughter to the dentist for the 1st time. We planned the visit far in advance. I woke up to a voice mail requesting that I reschedule due to someone not showing up work. When I returned the call they said they made arrangements to "fit" my daughter in. When we arrived, we waited while an office assistant finished her conversation on FACEBOOK chat. When we were acknowledged, I was given a clipboard to fill out. They were behind schedule by about 15 min. When we went to the back, the hygienist/ assistant was AWESOME! She was so patient! My daughter loved her. The dentist came and he was GREAT as well! We really like the dentist however, while checking out I got into a dispute with the office staff. I was so irritated I canceled my daughter's future appointment and will be finding a new office. I wish I could have the dentist without his office staff! :(
Every patient is scheduled with a single staff member for the entire visit. If an employee calls in sick or has a family emergency on a given day, we do our best to adjust the schedule without affecting the attention that each patient deserves. We take pride in staying on schedule, but some patients require extra attention and run over or we must accommodate emergencies. We will provide the same service to you should your child have an emergency or require some extra TLC.

Every visit has been excellent over the past three years. They have always been on time, interested in each patient, and eager to explain and discuss issues going on with my children. I love that they can schedule all three for the same time slot! My daughter had to have 3 teeth pulled at age 8. Dr. Dave and his staff were so kind and skilled, that she ASKED after the extraction when she would get to COME BACK. Now, that's a great dentist! I

Upon arrival, the office is very enchanting, and kid friendly. Beware, with it comes a heafty price tag. Their fees are well above what my insurance co. was willing to pay, so be prepared for a lot of out of pocket expense. Also know that they have an 18% finance charge for any balance over 30 days. Cha ching for them! Also, beware of making a late afternoon appt., on two seperate occassions, they called to cancel/reschedule (I got the impression that they just wanted to go home early). Front desk staff can be very rude as can their biller. Good Bye!

I was referred to Dr Olson by our ""family dentist"" because the ""family dentist"" didn't know how to deal with an upset 3-yr-old who needed a filling. Turns out, she actually needed several fillings and two crowns -- I'm SO glad that we ended up seeing Dr Olson. (And yes, I did get a ""second opinion"" from another pediatric dentist in another town, just to make sure Dr Olson wasn't putting me on. I mean, how in the world could the family dentist have missed all that??!). The 3-yr-old ended up needing sedation dentistry and I was a nervous wreck, but Dr Olson answered all of my questions completely and honestly, explained everything, and did a great job with the dental work itself. Now I take both of my children to Dr Olson. He is patient and kind, and really good at putting both parents and children at ease. He has an incredible knack for handling my children. The office is clean and quiet. And we always leave with prizes, free toothbrushes, free toothpaste, dental floss, all kinds of dental goodies. They have worked us in TWICE, once for an emergency and I dropped in, and again when they went ahead and took both children at once, though there was only an appointment for one. I wish *I* could go to Dr Olson!

We had a very, very unhappy experience here in May 2008. They lost our appointment that we had made 6 months previously. It was an end of day appointment for two children which you pretty much have to schedule 6 months in advance to get a prime time like that. I thought they'd work something out as they'd lost our appointment but there were no other end of day appointments available until December 2008! One of the office workers was so very rude that I dreaded having to call back to ask for our x-rays to be transferred. Not the kind of patient care you'd expect at a nice practice like this. Especially a pediatric practice. We've never had any problems like this with any other doctor or dentist office in the area. We fled to a new practice immediately.

Dr. Dave and his staff truly make Raleigh Pediatric Dentistry the BEST pediatric dentistry practice in the Triangle. My children love, love, love him. He has a wonderful friendly, caring, and gentle demeanor, and a very kid-friendly office. The decor is beautiful (check his website for photos).
He is also great at educating patients on preventative care. My kids actually have a good time at his office because there are things to play with and look at, and Dr. Dave and his staff truly put them at ease. He has flavored gloves, floss, and puts cute liittle sunglasses on them when he inspects their mouths.
We've been patients for almost three years now and cannot imagine going elsewhere. Also, everyone I've referred to him LOVES him as well.
