I have 2 dancers at RNE and we all LOVE it!!!! We have been at this school for about 4 years. I tried to think of the best thing about the school but honestly I would have to say it is the unique combination of dedicated, caring teachers, the supportive parents and the kindhearted dancers that make this dance school a standout group to be a part of. We have recently merged with 2 northern schools to form LOQC and I was blown away! I couldn't imagine this school getting better but it did!!!!!! All dancers and parents are treated with such caring and respect. All dancers are nurtured and encouraged to be their best (best dancers and best community members) whether they are competitive dancers or are dancing for fun / exercise. The teachers realize that there are life lessons like teamwork and cooperation that can be learned and foster those qualities in the dancers in addition to teaching the high-quality dance techniques. If you are looking for a quality, supportive school I would highly recommend coming in for an observation or trial class!

This school is a wonderful experience for its students, no matter what their ages. The head of the school is dedicated to her dancers, from "pre-Irish" through adults. She teaches not just the steps, but a love of the Irish culture in general. Students also learn the discipline required to succeed in their dancing, be it solo or team. Friendships made here are made for life. The amount of time in class includes a very full warm-up - usually about 20 minutes - since Irish dance is a vigorous sport. This is considered a regular part of class time. There are some expenses involved with Irish dance, but the teachers and the Parents Assn work hard to keep costs under control. No one is getting rich off the school dresses! The class fees are reasonable and are pro-rated for the months that are shorter. I know that "Mia Smith" claims otherwise, but I think perhaps her math was off.In short, Inis Cairde is an excellent school for Irish dance, run by knowledgeable and caring people. I can't imagine any child not loving it.
The review from the person in the parking lot who has never been in or taken a child to this studio should be taken in that light. The staff, parents and kids are some of the best around. They compete at a very high level, and get to experience some of the most famous choreographers in the country who come to this studio because of the caliber of instruction and the talent of the kids that are here. The parking lot in front of Home Depot is a large parking lot. the studio is located at one end of it. .The other 4/5 of the parking lot is away from the studio. The bitter person who wrongly thinks that everyone that goes there is rich should probably go park somewhere else and quit commenting on things they have no knowledge of. I doubt the staff was rude to them, more likely they were confrontational with the staff. This is one of the best studios in the country to learn and experience the art of dance. Visit them and see for yourself.
My daughters (ages 5 & 7) started dancing at City Ballet 2 years ago and we love it! It is a very well run, organized studio with warm, fun teachers. My girls have danced with both Miss Suzi and Miss Maya - both are great at teaching the ballet core curriculum while making it fun for the little girls. They incorporate lots of games, pretending and music. The end of the year recital is amazing - it includes beautiful costumes and choreography, a creative theme and professional staging and lighting. My girls loved being a part of a real show!
I am a champ dancer here and I absolutely love it! All of our teachers in Raleigh are brilliant, each with their own strengths to help you grow as a dancer. If you are a beginner wanting to try a first class or a champ moving to the Raleigh area, I would definitely give RNE a try! The support and camaraderie amongst the dancers is almost unparalleled and we really are almost like one big family! Of course, you don't have to compete and Ms. Clark is really supportive of dancers just wanting to dance for fun.
The instruction was average. I was not pleased with the pressure that is placed on parents to monitor students during the recital. I spent $1,000.00 over the course of the year on dance lessons, I should be able to view my daughters dance recital without the harrassment. They tell you nothing of their expectation that you are supposed to babysit 8 year olds and miss their performance. Then, when it is recital time they tell you it is your responsibility. Also did not like the 4.5 hour recital day.
Have been with Raleigh RNE for two years now and absolutely love it! Lisa Clark has been positive and encouraging towards all her students in reaching their individual goals. The studio is capable for providing quality instruction from beginners to world qualifiers. If you are considering Irish dance look no further!!!
If you've ever considered Irish step dancing, this studio is the place to go! And if you want to be a serious competitor, definitely the place to be. A demanding environment, but lots of encouragement and great instruction.
