You should check that their license and insurance comply with state laws. Try and get referrals from friends and neighbors too. Get some customer references from the contractor and call those customers. You shouldn't take references at face value. Get the estimate in writing, and make sure it's itemized. You need to know what you're paying for. One thing I insist on is that their products are Energy Star certified. ...Read More

It depends on the type of repair and how old your unit is. I've always been told that you take the amount of the repair and multiply it by the age of your unit.
