I am a fourth generation Oklahoman. A couple of years ago I married my sweetheart from Mexico. When it came time to apply for her residency, I knew just who to call... Michael Brooks Jimenez.Michael is a man who truly cares about the Hispanic community (and all of his clients) because he is part of this community. His lawyers are the same way. Even if they have an overwhelming, busy day they never forget why they are in this line of work - because they truly care about helping others. Michael met with my wife and I and gave us clear advice about what to expect. Since every case is different, Michael was able to give us his insights about the unique details of our case. His colleague, Ms. Lujan, was also a very knowledgeable lawyer who went above and beyond to help my wife get her green card. She, as well Ms. Jacobsen and Ms. Duarte, guided us along every step of the way. We felt strongly that we were in good hands. I've also had the pleasure of getting to know one of Michael's criminal lawyers, Mr. Garcia. He is a young energetic lawyer who has represented several family members with legal problems. He, like I said before, genuinely cares about helping others. I could give a long list of reasons why I know that statement to be true.Other law offices just don't the total package that Michael has. They will work hard to get you results.********MICHAEL BROOKS JIMENEZ es mi abogado.
First of all I want to use this opportunity to thank Tai Stevenson for everything he did for myself and my wife. When i first contacted Tai after reading reviews here, I hoped to have a good experience and I promised myself to write a good review if i felt a 5 star was what i received. I contacted Tai Stevenson in Dec 2014, and meeting him was so easy, he makes you feel at home, he jokes and makes you feel comfortable, he was also very professional and knew his onions. He sounded confident but didn't promise anything regarding my Adjustment of status. I remember discussing with my wife afterwards about how easy it was to let out our lives to a complete stranger who felt instantly like family.Tai went ahead and filled our AOS in January 2015, there was a little error that required USCIS to return our package and he made sure to call us to inform us and sent the package back in February after diligently clearing the error. He kept us informed and relaxed all through and made sure we understood that everything was going to be fine. in April 2015, i received my EAD card and Tai again kept us informed about it and also told us all the procedures to follow after receiving the EAD. Due to some immigration general delay, our Interview wasn't fixed till November 2015. Tai made us come in to go through all documents and prepare us on how the interview day will go, It was such a relaxing, professional and funny day with all of us laughing and he made sure to remind us to show up in time for the interview, ofcourse Tai was going to join us in the interview room as our attorney so yet again we felt happy he was going through all this with us. Our green card application was approved and I will be receiving it in the mail next week. I just want anyone reading this to know that Tai Stevenson is the best attorney to represent you in your Immigration or any other legal issue you have. He is Understanding, never judgmental, very professional, funny and has a cute smile to go with his profession. plus he is affordable. so best of luck guys.. Tai rocks.
Thank you Red! Really, I should have written earlier as I was your client last year. To those who are researching lawers in Oklahoma- GO HERE! I went to a few interviews with different individuals. I took me many months to even decide on my Personal Injury case. Not an fun task. Especially when I see all those sharks who really don't care and only interested in the pay. Couldn't help but feel that that other attorneys only viewed me as a dollar sign. Of course lawyer is a professional and needs to get paid for their services, but clients are people, not merely subjects. Red was very clear about the process and fees and was FLEXIBLE WITH PAYMENT The plus/minus $100 of other lawyers did not present enough value to me in comparison to knowing Red was not ripping me off. Very knowledgeable, warm and welcoming staff. Everyone showed the best side of their professional demeanor from their attire to the knowledge of your particular case. Very prompt return calls and communication in general. My only regret is that I wish I had come here much sooner. I will definitely recommend his services to a friend! Thank you Mr. Kemether
My wife and I were lucky enough to find such a great attorney like Tai Stevenson. My wife just moved from South Korea, and we needed help in getting her green card application submitted. We were concerned about my wife's 90-day stay-limit, but Tai was very reassuring during the process, giving us detailed instructions on what we needed to do. The work-load was drastically decreased for us as Tai prepared all of our documents and organized our folder completely. We were pleasantly surprised by the speed in which everything was submitted for my wife's case, as well as the speed it took for us to get an interview. Tai prepared our case so well, that the interviewer only asked us two simple questions! Even better, my wife was able to get her green card and social security card within 1-2 weeks after that. I believe the entire process took around 4 months, which is unheard of in the immigration world. My wife and I seriously can't thank Tai enough for his hard work and great help. We strongly recommend him for anyone seeking an immigration attorney, or even for those who just need a hardworking, trustworthy attorney!
George Kanelopoulos helped us when my son was a pedestrian and hit by a car in a school zone. George personally came all the way to Union City to meet with us. He went to the accident scene and did a thorough investigation. He met with the witness and had the case going right away. George filed claims with three different insurance companies and recovered from all of them. George went to court several times for us and is an excellent trial lawyer. It was obvious the judge and other lawyers knew and respected him. George also honored his "Fair Fee Guarantee" which means that his fee was less than our portion after all of our medicala bills were paid. He also negotiated with our health insurance company and got a big reduction. The staff and Kanelopoulos Law Firm also did an excellent job. They answered our calls promptly and were always there for us. We love this law firm and will always go back with any legal problems we have. George told us we have a "lawyer friend" for life and we are thrilled.
I hired Mr. Trevino with what started as a very frustrating custody situation. In our time of working together he went over and beyond constantly advising me in a way that told me what I deserved, but respected my decisions in the end. He communicated each step and bump in the road honestly and compassionately. He even told me when bills would be racking up and how to cut the cost when he could. He kept my goals in mind and not only worked for a fair aggrement but worked for future peace between my ex and I. Knowing that was what my goal was and ultimately was in the best interest of my child. I may not be able to put a plaque on his wall, but I can commend him through referrals and reviews. I would not trust anyone but him with anyone I loves cases whether it be family, or personal legal situations. This only allows 5 stars but I give him 10. I hired an amazing attorney and left with a lifelong friend in him and an ideal coparenting relationship with my ex. Thank you Mike!
My wife and I were looking around for an immigration attorney to process our I-485 application in the OKC metro area. After doing some looking around, we found that Tai Stevenson was the best and picked him because he is down to earth, friendly, knows his stuff (immigration law) and much cheaper that others. After we found out that our priority date was going to be current in 2 weeks, we talked to Tai and got all the paperwork done within the 2 weeks time frame. Tai is efficient and provided us with the best advise and approach to get our paperwork done accurately. Our application (I-485) was processed by USCIS smoothly - No RFEs requested by USCIS. Also during the application process, Tai was on the ball in keeping up with USCIS on my case. We are now Permanent Residents of the United States and very satisfied with Tai's services. We will definitely recommend Tai to anyone who needs someone to represent them for immigration related cases. Thanks Tai!
In bad car accident having 2 hard open back surgeries still in recovery. This mans work ins could take care of my bills. Settled 500k he changed up checks that came to 445k put money in escrow but never seen bills from provider. He has 40 percent of 200k. He has stole my funds and will not give me money. Brent's settlement docum does not match checks. He is rude and heartless. This changed my life and he took all 500k he never seen me til dep or mediation 5 min before kicked me out office while confronting him. It's all on black and white. Looking for malpractice Aty Brent was to get 35 percent. And made so clear my bills to be paid. He never helped me the whole 3 yrs and I was so hurt physically I could not see what he was doing. He got his money and manipulated checks. Hope this not happened to others. I felt I worked for him he was only ready to see me for signature I had no idea Atys could be so shady and I hurt every day.
When I first spoke to Mr. Thetford about my injury case he was very knowledgeable, he knew exactly how to handle my situation from the beginning. I talked to attorneys before calling him and they did not seem as knowledgeable. I was able to get into medical treatment right away with the help of the firm and did not have to wait around for the insurance company. Your firm stayed on top of the insurance company and protected me from the games they play. All my questions were always answered and I was always reassured when I was stressed and worried throughout the very long and complex case I had. This is something I could not have done by myself and without the knowledge of your expertise I would not have been able to recover as well as I have. I feel grateful for choosing your firm to take my case and I am very happy with my settlement. I would recommend you to anyone!
I would like to say a few things about your handling of my accident case. You had successfully helped me many years ago on my previous injury case. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about you, so when I had my recent car accident case, I first contacted another attorney. He said he could not help me, since I had previously injured my back in my last case, so it wouldn’t be much money. Then I remembered you and I am so glad I did. You not only accepted my case but you ended up obtaining a settlement of over $50,000, much more money than I ever thought I would receive. It took awhile and you had to file a lawsuit, but you accomplished what you set out to do. Your staff is so nice and I particularly want to compliment Maryann and Mary. I hope I never get injured again but if I ever do, I know who I am going to. I will never forget you again. You’re wonderful!
The legal profession is vast, with each attorney having his or her specialties. Here are some of the most common attorneys individuals seek out when they require legal aid:
A criminal defense lawyer is probably the attorney the average person imagines. Criminal attorneys are the men and women who defend individuals accused of a crime. The lawyer may work pro bono - for the public good - so the accused is certain to have representation, even if he or she cannot afford an attorney.
Criminal lawyers are experts in the criminal justice system. They help their clients decide how to plead when first charged by the police and guide them through trial procedures. Defense lawyers must use every bit of their knowledge and resources to get their clients the fairest results from criminal proceedings.
If you are a small business owner or the head of a larger corporation, you may come into contact with a business lawyer. Many big companies keep a legal staff on payroll to deal with the daily operations of running and maintaining a large enterprise. Business lawyers may have more specific specialties like copyright law, product liability and mergers and acquisitions.
Business attorneys may focus their practices on certain industries. There are entertainment lawyers to guide artists through royalties and media contracts, while hospitals employ malpractice attorneys to protect doctors from aggressive litigation.
When you work for a company, you may find yourself in need of an employment lawyer - especially if the relationship between you and your employer sours. An employment attorney prevents people from losing their jobs due to unfair reasons. Workers' compensation lawyers help maintain safe employment conditions and ensure workers receive fair compensation after workplace injury or discrimination.
A personal finance attorney can protect and manage your investments and securities. You may use a finance lawyer to help you prepare your taxes, but you might be better off working with an accountant. A tax attorney is more commonly contacted after a business or individual runs into trouble with the IRS or state regulators.
Real Estate Lawyer
Your family may keep a lawyer on retainer to guide you through the major expenses that come up in life. When buying a home, you could work with a real estate lawyer to make sure you get the best deal and won't get taken advantage of by tricky mortgage agreements or unfair landlords. An estate attorney can help you plan for the worst by creating a will and preparing your finances for after your death.
A bankruptcy lawyer is essential to help you resolve your financial difficulties when they start to spin out of control. Certain attorneys help create strategies to bring you out of debt and speak to your creditors. A lawyer can advise you on which type of bankruptcy you should file for.
If you are suing someone or being sued, you need a civil lawyer. Civil attorneys - and criminal lawyers - are the legal representatives who argue on your behalf in a courtroom setting. Civil lawyers may represent you on matters of business, finance or a wide variety of other specialized needs.
One of the most common types of civil attorneys is a personal injury lawyer. When you're hurt by an outside party and you would like to hold them legally responsible, a personal injury attorney conducts litigation and negotiates settlements to compensate for your pain and suffering. Sometimes many wronged people will join together with a single civil lawyer or law office to form a class action lawsuit.
Most people will turn to a lawyer during a divorce to navigate the emotionally charged legal proceedings. A divorce attorney can assist in determining grounds for separation, division of property and custody of children.
Family attorneys deal with much more personal matters. If you're getting married, a family lawyer can help you prepare a prenuptial agreement or other family planning paperwork such as adoption or inheritance documents.
To ensure you find a competent attorney who won't abuse your trust or drain your finances, you have to make the proper inquiries. There are several questions you should ask, but the majority will fall under three general topics:
Training and Experience Questions
One of the best ways to determine quality is to examine an attorney's history. When you first step into a lawyer's office, you should check for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You have to ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
Once you inquire about the broad details of their legal career, you should ask questions about their experience that pertains to your specific issue. You should ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant.
Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Whatever the payment plan, make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
Lawyer/Client Relationship Questions
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship. The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Great questions to start off with are ones that will make your life easier, such as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
You may keep a lawyer on retainer or you could turn to an attorney during specific situations. Here are some common reasons people begin seeking legal representation or advice:
You Know Your Limitations
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, you need assistance. You may need a third party to help you navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. It's essential you fully understand the terms of any legally binding documentation or activity you become a part of. If you are not an expert in a given field, you'll want to hire an attorney who is.
A lawyer may find legal implications or opportunities you might miss. If you find yourself in a civil or criminal matter, a proper attorney ensures you don't receive a harsh punishment for a small mistake.
You're Facing an Important Event/Decision
When making decisions critical to your financial stability or personal life, you may want a lawyer with expertise in your situation to make sure you do everything you can to arrive at the proper resolution. This is especially true when you become involved in a criminal case and your freedom is on the line.
It's not just a matter of legal knowledge; lawyer's have access to numerous resources you do not. They have staff ready to work around the clock and experts in a variety of fields to give your important issues the attention they deserve.
You Can't Be Impartial
During times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you may need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way of level-headed thinking. For example, divorce lawyers can mediate a heated argument and help both partners get on with their lives.
Emotional investment could be subtle. You may want to have a lawyer look over an investment opportunity that looks too good to be true or investigate the merits of a possible civil suit when you feel wronged.
You're Out of Options
Many people turn to lawyers when they are in trouble. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available to assist you as you deal with your problems.
Personal injury lawyers find solutions for people who can no longer work under their own power and bankruptcy attorneys prevent people from giving in to debt. If you find yourself in a situation where you can't find a solution, a lawyer may be able to offer the counsel you need.
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. While you probably don't want the conflict of interest that comes from being represented by a family member, friends and loved ones can recommend lawyers who served them well in the past. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you.
After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online. You should check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
When you build a list of possible candidates, perform a background check on each one. See if you can find information on their history and success record. Once you find a possible lawyer, you should call to arrange a consultation so you can ask your important questions in person.
By performing the necessary research and taking every available precaution, you can narrow your search to the attorney most suited to your needs.
