Our new patient exam includes a comprehensive exam, in-depth medical and personal interview, full mouth x-rays (NOT a panoramic x-ray), full mouth probing, extra- and intra-oral exam and charting, digital photos of your teeth and mouth, and a custom treatment plan just for you.

Teeth Cleaning
The hardest appointments to get in our office are the first new-patient exam and the first cleaning appointment, as we pre-book all of our patients for their 6-month cleaning appointments. We also devote a great deal of time and energy to our new patients so that we can get to know one another and educate you on your mouth. You will be here approximately 1.5 - 2 hours for your new patient appointment. (This does NOT include a dental cleaning.)

Patient had existing crowns that she was unhappy about the appearance and spacing of her 2 front crowns. We removed the crowns, bleached her teeth and placed 4 new upper anterior crowns.
Bridges
Patient born without maxillary lateral incisors and very square central incisors. Composite bondings to central incisors took 2 hours in office, and custom bonded porcelain bridges to replace maxillary laterals took approximately 2 months to complete. Bleaching, then custom shade in Denver.

Patient had short, square composite restorations she was unhappy with, which required crown lengthening (Dr. Brently Grimard) and bleaching and crowns of her upper anterior teeth.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Swanson completed the rigorous Pankey curriculum early on in his career, and this shaped his style of practice more than anything else. He is an expert at treating TMJ and occlusion-related issues, and provides the most thorough patient care restoratively. Dr. Swanson’s passions include beautiful cosmetic dentistry and functional occlusion. Dr. Jim loves to continue learning and has mentored hundreds of his dental colleagues during his career, including his daughter, Dr. Jamie Johnson. He retired from private practice in 2019, and is continuing his legacy of education by teaching part-time at the Pueblo Community College Dental Hygiene program.
