Dr. Welch graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from New York University. She received her M.D. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After two years of internal medicine training at Brown University she entered the Dermatology Fellowship program also at Brown University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology having received the American Board of Dermatology certification in 1981. Dr. Welch is on the Active Staff of The Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, and The Roger Williams Medical Center. As an Assistant Clinical Professor in Dermatology at Brown University Medical School she is active in the teaching of dermatology residents and as a mentor to female medical students. Dr. Welch is a founding member of the RI Medical Women's Association, member of the RI Dermatology Society and the first Dermatology Representative to the Council of the RI Medical Society where she served for many years..
