My guilty pleasure

Absolutley adore this place. The bread is fantastic as is the hamburger. I often go here for lunch and enjoy dining ""al fresco"" here in the summer months. My favorite thing to get here is the chicken salad. Manga!

Worth the Trip from Narragansett

Being a Rhode Islander it's rare for me to go too far out of my comfort zone for a special night on the town. When friends recommended Parkside for my anniversary I was a little apprehensive but the experience was well worth the trip. The waitstaff are cordial w/ being overbearing and the menu has something for everybody. Definitely try the Rotisserie Chicken you won't be disappointed!

All in all a very pleasurable trip and we'll certainly be back again.

WARNING-RAW CHICKEN SERVED HERE

Served raw chicken. Sent it back. The waiter apologized. That would not be a good enough response to food poisoning. I did not trust the kitchen enough to try anything else.
The mashed were over the top seasoned.
The valet that was to do the 'valet parking' was not available.
Over priced and rated.
The waiter was very nice but needs a better script in times of crisis.

love this place

I love the fact that the kitchen is exposed, you can see them cooking
I have never had a bad meal there, food is fabulous.
Great place to have drinks and desert at water fires.

Great afterwork bar; Order your food carefully

I've been to Parkside several time, mostly to meet friends after work for drinks. It has great atmosphere, decor, lighting, etc. Good wines by the glass and tasty beers on tap. It's a cozy place.

This evening we decided to have dinner. On the plus side, the wait staff was attentive, friendly, and graciously accomodated our special requests. One of the group ordered a ravioli with pancetta and chicken that was delicious.

I ordered a halibut special. The dish brought to the table included a generous, thick, portion of fish and included a thoughtful collection of vegetables and rice. However, the fish was evidently grilled too much or at too high a temperature, as all I could taste was the char. And the inside was as dry as desert sand. Apologetically, our waitress returned the fish and asked the chef to prepare another piece.

The next piece was not undercooked, it was literally raw except for the first 1/8"" of outer surface. Jeez

Halibut is a simple fish. Very little natural oils, delicate flavor, and should be prepared with attention to time and temperature. It should not be placed on the same grill where steaks are cooked - I'm eating fish, not beef. Perhaps more than a drizzle of olive oil on the outside and put under the broiler?

Choking on Chicken

We went to Parkside on a Saturday evening and the place was packed. We waited a few minutes for our table, which didn't bother me since I was excited to find out why this place was so popular. It was a standing room only crowd. I ordered the roasted chicken thinking that that must be their specialty - rotisserie. The chicken was dry and tasteless. Roasting a chicken is cooking 101, and this chicken was over cooked and under seasoned. The three other people in my group would agree: the food was unexceptional for the price.

Consistently Good

I love the Parkside. It has become our go-to restaurant in Providence. Both my husband and I love the ambiance (kind of fast-paced, upscale bistro) and the food is always consistent.
It can get a little hot if you're seated near the open kitchen, but the filet mignon and rotissierie chicken are worth it. I wish the chef would change the menu up more frequently, but overall I always enjoy my visits.

First time

After being convinced by a co-worker who has been three times, we ended up at the Parkside. I don't think it's fair to say the service was poor, it was lacking, kind of strange. We arrived around 5:45, with a 6pm reservation, which at this time probably wasn't necessary, but I would recommend it because the place did get busier around 7. The place settings were not complete, a missing spoon, bread plate, etc. The food was very average, not worth the money. There's too many great restaurants in Providence for me recommend this one. If you've been everywhere in Providence and haven't tried the Parkside, it probably worth going. But if it's your 1st or 2nd time dining in Providence, there's many other places to check out first. On a good note, great menu, easy to read, lots of choices, everyone will find something they want.

Great Food

We arrived on a Sat. night with no wait. As soon as we were sat we were served bread and water. Then we waited. A good five minutes until I had to speak up. It looked like there was a mis-communication between the waitstaff. But as soon as we got our server everyhting went smooth. Filet was excellent specials great. Desserts were ok could have been a little better considering thats the last thing you eat at a restaraunt. But overall great evening.

I'll Park Somewhere Else

I've been here a few times, trying to give it a chance or two to become the resturaunt I want it to be.It doesnt look like its going to happen.
the food is overly spiced. It should be chicken with seasonings, not seasonings with chicken. And just another clue to the wait staff, Wait until the customers finished before taking his meal.
Highly Priced, Poorly Staffed. Ive learned my lesson

Off the beaten path...

More expensive than necessary, but overall good food. The menu is large and I could definatly see myself going back again...as long as the airheaded hostess didn't try to sit us in a back corner again!
