I hate to write a negative review, especially for a place that I shop at, but I got 80 cents each for nice items that I left there on consignment. They also (allegedly) sold a 3-piece cocktail suit for $15 based on my 45% take. I really, really dislike accusing people of underhandedness, but either their accounting system is way off or they're selling things under some circumstances for far less than the marked price.
I am so glad to read that other people have experienced the same level of rudeness and disrespect by the owner of this store - I thought it was something I was doing! I have never consigned with them but my mom has and has lots of complaints about them. I stopped shopping here because it wasn't worth my time to be lectured - plus their selection is really not quality trendy stuff but overused overpriced
A friend of mine brought me to this shop that happend to specialize in plus size's just like one I was fond of in Waterbury, I was thrilled to think that Goddess has opened a franchise location in Prospect, when I arrived I asked the shop keeper if Goddess was affiliated the owner more less yelled at me and told me that they were NOT associated and they served to a "different" clientel. At first I thought she ment they served to senior citizens by all the antique styles displayed across the garage sized shop. Than I realized later that she was insulting me by saying I wasn't from prospect therefore I must have been trash! btw I'm from Woodbridge. I now go where I know I'm wanted and Goddess is where I belong!! The people are wonderful and the clothes are always in style! I am also posting this on ttheir site's review's just in case someone decides to delete this!. If you're traveling out of the way to come to this place don't even bother, it's a true waste of time! I just can't seem to get over how rude she was to me, she seriously needs some business etiquette training...

Brought some clothing here, and when my time was up to collect money, she had only sold 2 items and she would not return my clothes that didn't sell even though they were STILL hanging in her shop, she argued with me that MY clothing now belonged to her. What a scam! This woman bills herself as a ""Christian"" but doesn't practice what she preaches, stay away.

I feel compelled to write this review, as I agree with the other ladies reviews from here, and poodlehappy""s review had me laughing. Now my 2 cents.
I have been shopping at the OTHER plus size resale store in Waterbury named ""Goddess plus size consignment,"" since they opened, and always marvelled at how great an idea it was. I have been delighted with my purchases , and in fact almost my entire wardrobe has been from Goddess.
Awhile ago I got an email from another store opening in Prospect which also specialized in 14+ size. This was interesting as previously there weren't any plus size resale stores in Connecticut and now here are 2 very close together within the state, isn't that strange? In addition how did this e-mailer know that me?
When I saw the name ""Aura"" it clicked that this was the woman who used to work at Goddess. When she was there I tried to avoid her as much as possible, as she was IMO trying to sell me clothes that were not my style, and was very vocal about her religious beliefs, which was a turn off.
Even when I knew this I decided to visit her new store. She greeted me and told me how happy she was that I found her .
I asked her how she came to open the SAME type of store as the one in which she had worked, she avoided my eyes and told me that God had told her it was time to move on. oh boy here we go I thought.
So I guess God told her to copy another stores original theme and marketing !?! How Godly can that be?
Another shopper at the time overheard my conversation and commented as she left that she felt bad vibes in this store. I agreed
As far as clothes there wasn't any that even appealed to me as far as I am concerned so I left., and won't ever shop there again.
Sometimes I go in because I need a specific item; more often I go in to see what's new since I was there last.
Regardless of my motive, I am never disappointed. Coming out each trip with a bag or two of great new clothes
that cost me far less than I would have spent at Marshall's or TJ Maxx...and best of all I stay so far from the malls!
The best part is the fellowship. A lot of laughter and catching up---and some good ole fashioned harmony in song.
Making those trips is a precious part of my Saturday routine.
As a preformer and being very active with local charities , i'm always attending benefits, fund raisers and social events. Aura has always come to my rescue when i needed that last minute outfit or odd/end. I have found something everytime i've gone, and exactly what i needed at reasonable prices and the specials are to die for if ur on a fixed income like some of us are.
She is always friendly perky and attentive to my needs when i'm there. Pat and I adore her and enjoy seeing her everytime we come in.
Keep up the good work sweetie
Ur Diva Sconcia :)
I've known this fantastic women for a few yrs now, she has always greeted me with a Big hug , smile and hello. She has helped me make some extra cash along the way taking in my unused items and i've found some great outfits along the way to help me out with my "special benefits" and "shows". This place is clean and friendly. Girl ..god has blessed you well keep up the good work ..we'll see u soon

I decided to do an internet search for consignment shops since I loved shopping them in the mid-west. I am appalled by your site for many reasons. 1st of all I am looking for a woman?s clothing consignment shop. Although your shop came up in the search I am concerned as to what you actually sell. You have put so much emphasis on Garden Repellants, personal hygiene products and god I am not sure if your competitor is the home improvement stores, the local pharmacy or churches. I am a 30 something year old woman who wants nice clothing at an affordable price but by looking at your website I feel as if I would be walking into the ?senior woman?s luncheon club? at a missionary. There are also many people out there whose religious beliefs are not with Jesus. Did it ever occur to you that it is in poor business taste to promote a ?clothing business? with religion? And that some people might take offense to it? I for one would not be comfortable buying clothes knowing that Jesus is being brought up constantly during my excursion. Or is it your intention to only have Jesus followers shop in your store? There is a picture on the page with your soap of a woman holding a handbag who looks angry and forced while the other woman looks like she is the cat who ate a mouse. It?s kind of creepy. The picture also shows electrical wiring hanging above the doorway which I can not imagine is too safe as well as approximately 10 empty hanger?s hanging on a cork board with very little things. Is it me or have you just opened and you need to get more merchandise in? The picture with the soap?.did you even know that the soap is upside down? There is a picture of a kind faced woman who is in blue sweat pants and your caption is ?Very Regal?. How are sweats regal? You have the dates on the bottom right hand corner of your pictures from the 1st quarter of the year?.did you ever hear of cropping? Most of the woman have their eyes closed in the photos?.are they afraid to see where they ended up? And as a younger woman to see you advertise that ?This is where I end up after partying at the brick house? (and the model and I use that term loosely?.appears to be in her late 60?s early 70?s) just reinforces the ?senior woman?s luncheon club at church?. Also what?s with the RED HATS? Again do you just not want non Jesus following women between the ages of 25 and 45 shopping in your ?senior store?? Whoever designed your website took you for a ride. It is in my opinion very unprofessional and they did not take the time to ?get to know their client? prior to building it. And if they did and this is the end result that you are looking for it is making me question what else you and your ?ladies? do with out thinking. It is also quite unprofessional to make a ?big screen production? of who designed your website. Go to any other clothing website and see if they tell you who designed it. I bet Calvin Klein, Abercrombie and Fitch or Layne Bryant are not thanking their granddaughters. You did not win an award; you are trying to run a business. You also claim that you are part of a better package now?..if that is true I can not even imagine how unprofessional and pathetic your former place was. Take a look at what your competitors are doing. You might learn from them the art of business, how not to offend customer?s prior to them coming through your doors. Also note that none of them push their religions down their customer?s throats. I am sorry for being harsh but I can not believe that no-one had the kindness to set you straight and keep you from continuous embarrassment.

I heard about this place from a friend but didn't realize until I entered the shop that woman who started it used to work at another plus size consignment store in Waterbury. I didn't care for this lady when she worked there, and in fact quit shopping there because she was too pushy and just weird.
It seems now that she has her own store, which is a poor imitation of her former one. I again felt pressured and followed around.
I will say that the store was clean, and the prices were outrageous. You can buy new clothing for what the prices that were marked. Good news though, now I can go back to Goddess Consignment..
A great consignment shop. Aura has transplanted her inspired self and an inventory of great clothes, shoes, etc. to Prospect much longer ago than I had realized. I missed her presence at the shop where she had formerly worked and was thrilled to find her again. Go to Aura's to buy; but go also to enjoy Aura's awesome presence.
This is what this site is for correct &quot; My personal shopping experience?&quot; My personal shopping experience was not all favorable. I didn't find much of a selection and I thought this stores pricing was high compared to others.
I'm so sorry you had a bad shopping experience. The good news is that I'm having a 50% off on all clothing, purses and shoes. I hope this will help you and make your next shopping experience more pleasant. If I could help you in any way please let me know. Aura
Have Known Aura for many years, she remains a beautiful person internally as well as externally.
She is one of those ladies that follows through with her tenacious spirit guiding her.
How wonderful it is in this day and age to have a willing and wonderful family that helped her realize
goal. Hats off to you Aura, you deserve all the success life has to offer. About the store, when I found
it, there it was as neat as pin, nicely decorated with the smell of fresh paint and newly cleaned floors.
No problem finding something current, the store is filled with them. Be prepared to be greeted by a Lady
with a smile as big as her heart. See you there. Trixie
i have been to this store many times, and your comment about the smell? it smelled like homemade soaps like lavender and orange blossem and chocolate, and by the way i purchased all of them , now unless your oscar the grouch from sesame street who lives in a garbage can ,,
i cant understand what you are smelling? and as far as the rip's in any of the clothes ? i have not seen that ever, and the prices are very resonable consittering that she gives more away for free than she sell's, you sound like somone from another consignment shop, who is bashing the compitition, and to me that stinks more than any other smell on this earth, i will continue to support this consignment shop even more now because you make it so famouse, being that i know the shop and love it! i can shurly say you are lieing, and must mean that all of the opposite is true,
and this shop i recommend to anyone looking for a smile and a nice place to purchase or consign clothing !!
thank ya !!!
sorry grandma ,,the truth hurt's
Having been a resale junky for many years, I was excited to see a new one opening close to me.
The first time I visited Auras , she was closed then I tried another day, to see AGAIN that it was closed when it should have been open this is frustrating but on another day she was finally there.
To be honest owner is friendly, but the store is smelly the clothes were out of style and there was a rip in a blouse that i found
Just because I am a grandma, I do not want to look as one.
The prices were ridicoulous for a thrift store and my entire visit was a waste.
Not wanting to insult, but to be honest, this is one shop that is not worth your time.
I was so happy to find a plus size consignment shop in my area. She has a large variety of clothes, shoes and handbags. You won't see youself coming and going if you purchase here. She has a beautiful line of jewelry that is designed by a local women and is exclusively sold to her shop. You will always be greeted with a smile. So if you are looking to make some $$ and have clothes hanging around don't throw them out bring them here. I did!
I came in during the grand opening in February. I was greeted with smiles and left with many thanks. Since then I have recommended a couple of my friends to consign at Aura's Plus Size Consignment and so far it has been a very pleasant experience for everyone. I will continue to recommend Aura'a Plus Size Consignment.
Having know the owner the past couple of years, She is very people friendly that always looks to help the "underdog". Now that she has her own business there is no restrictions on how she can help in the community. Her boutque is quite cozy and clean. I will continue to recommend friends to buy, consign, or just stop in to say Hi.
Couldn't be happier to have a place like this in Prospect. I go by it everyday and shop there with friends at least twice a week. The owner is wonderful, friendly, and makes you feel like family. The shop is overflowing with items. It is worth the trip to stop by as you never know what you will find. Sandy from Waterbury
Check out this place.. Great people, prices and clothes of course. Something for everyone..
I love this store. It's a great place to pick up anything you need from formal to casual.
I go in for one thing and come out with several bags every visit..
Owner is so Bubbly and Friendly. I get a hug as I come in and s
he always ask me. How are you doing doll, makes me feel like I am special.
You can get great specials in there. Designer hand bags that would normally
cost you. 700.00 to 800.00 hundread bucks. she consigns them for 75 bucks
or so. So worth it. I love her and this store I will shop there as always.
I'll be seeing you soon Honey.. Check this store out. You'll love it!! =)
