Child Support
The State of Minnesota and the Fillmore County Child Support office work with both parents to help children receive the support they deserve. You can apply for child support and collection services if you are the parent or alleged father of a minor child, a minor child lives in your household and at least one parent of the child lives away from home or if you are owed any arrears, even if the children in the child support order are 18 or older.
Child Custody and Visitation
Paternity
Every child deserves financial and emotional support from both parents. Child support services help benefit children by establishing paternity, establishing and modifying child support orders, and collecting support. Child support includes basic support, medical support, and child care support. A court order can require one or both parents to provide child support for his or her child.
Guardianship
Advises the Fillmore County Human Services on matters involving adult and child protection, mental health, guardianships and conservatorships, and administration of various types of public assistance. Prosecutes Child in need of Protection or Services (CHIPS) cases, Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) cases, guardianship and conservatorship cases, Mentally Ill or Chemically Dependent cases, Mentally Ill and Dangerous cases, Sex Offender Commitment cases, and representation on Administrative Licensing suspensions or revocations. Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 388.051, the County Attorney gives legal opinions and advice to the Fillmore County Board.

In addition to criminal prosecution, my office handles all court cases involving zoning issues, child abuse and neglect, truancy, public guardianships and conservatorships, child support enforcement, and judicial commitments for chemical dependency and mental illness.

Sex Crimes
Dodge-Fillmore-Olmsted County Victim Services is a trusted program designed to offer support, information and referrals for individuals, families and communities impacted by sexual assault, sexual violence and general crime.
Misdemeanors
Fillmore County Community Corrections Department strives to provide the Fillmore County District Court and the citizens of Fillmore County with services designed to ensure public safety in the areas of Juvenile Delinquency and Adult Criminal Supervision (Felony, Gross Misdemeanor, Misdemeanor and Pre-Trial offenses). Our duties include preparing investigative reports as ordered by the Court, field supervision and case management services.

Sexual exploitation of youth in Minnesota is commonly overlooked, misidentified as something else and undocumented. The Safe Harbor program views Minnesota youth who engage in prostitution as victims and survivors, not criminals. They will be treated with dignity and respect while our staff helps them recognize their right to make their own choices. They will also be offered supportive services, shelter and housing that meets their needs.

Workers Compensation
In order to be compliant with the County ordinance, payment of $50.00, a completed Fillmore County Precious Metal License Application, Form SP:C1 and completed Certification of Compliance on MN Workers' Compensation Law. Upon approval by the County Board, the license will be sent out to you.
Sexual Harassment
In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003, The Fillmore County Detention Center has a policy of zero tolerance with regard to sexual abuse and sexual harassment in this facility and will take appropriate affirmative measures to protect all inmates of sexual abuse and sexual harassment to promptly and thoroughly investigate all allegations of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office will investigate any criminal allegations. Any person may report an allegation on behalf of any inmate in the Fillmore County Detention Center by contacting Jail Administration at 507-765-3874. Reports can also be made to the Victim Services Center of Dodge, Fillmore and Olmsted Counties at 507-765-2805 (M-F) or 507-289-0636 (24/7) or by contacting Fillmore County Law Enforcement at 507-765-3874.

Land Use and Zoning
Due to heightened security awareness after the September 11, 2001 attacks and the need to upgrade the original mechanical system in the courthouse, the Fillmore County Board of Commissioners approved to enter into an agreement with Kane & Johnson Architects, Inc. for architectural services for the Fillmore County Courthouse addition, remodel, and mechanical upgrade project. Construction costs totaled $3.4 million and the project, which also included asbestos abatement and technology upgrades, was funded through sales of bonds and existing resources. The project added 16,320 square feet to the existing 28,160 square feet. The courthouse was completed in February of 2005. Offices located in the courthouse include District Court, Attorney, Auditor/Treasurer, Assessor, Community Corrections, Victim Services, Administration, Planning and Zoning, and Recorder.
