depending on your cultural background, either Lewis Carroll or Amsterdam.Speaking of Amsterdam: For a Bible Belt chain, Mellow Mushroom's specialty pies seem suspiciously designed with "the munchies" in mind, both in name and in toppings. The "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Kosmic Karma" pizzas both feature the restaurant's signature pesto sauce, and the "House Special", which—in a madcap, hungover mood—I ordered, is piled high with pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, fresh tomatoes, ham, bacon and extra cheese. Defying expectations, the alarming variety of toppings was handled with restraint. The tomato sauce was, to my palate, a bit heavy on the oregano, but everything tasted fresh, and there wasn't the tsunami of orange oil that I've come to expect from big-chain "Meat-Lover's" pies. The star of the show, though, was that garlicky, unctuous crust—thick enough to sink your teeth into, but still thin enough to eat with your hand. Yellow with butter and stuccoed with cornmeal, this is a crust to save for last, not discard.
Despite the many bad reviews on here, my husband and I finally decided to give this restaurant a try, since we love pizza and are always glad to see something new open up in downtown Prattville. We were very pleasantly surprised, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. Our pizza arrived at our table in under ten minutes, cooked perfectly and loaded with toppings and cheese. It tasted great, and we'll definitely go back often. I do agree with other reviewers that I'd like to see them serve a cup of ice water with refills, I wouldn't mind paying a modest charge for it.
If you are a water drinker you need to take your own bottle. $1 for bottle water no refills. Please, if you want to force me to buy water at least offer me a cup with ice and refills. Prattville, AL is just not ready for that yet. My pizza was good except the order taker ordered us the wrong size, smaller, and when it came to the table and we told her all she said was "sorry I pushed the wrong button". Never offered a corrected order or anything. Wings looked great but were fatty.
This is definitely a kids dream. Unending pizza! My grandkids love it. They love picking it out by themselves from a long line of choices. I find that I tend to eat several before zeroing in on what I actually like, so it is a little frustrating. I would rather pay for one I really enjoy. But the people are very helpful and give good service. The mac and cheese pizza is always good! Go figure!
Always fresh and delicious! Deli meat and cheeses make it special. The crust makes it- soft, chewy and good on it's own. They have an awesome tomato bisque-type soup that makes a great appetizer. I also have tried the whole wheat crust, only because my daughter ordered it, and it was fabulous! Who knew! It is now one of my favorite pizzas! It's a noisy place, though- a small complaint!
The pizza was good.. However I don't drink soda's or tea and they don't have water?? What restaurant doesn't have water...You have to buy a bottle of water which was a dollar... and if you need more you have to buy it. I also had to stop a server and ask for a box.. After they brought the pizza to our table nobody came back to the table.
This place is very good! The staff was friendly and the pizza combinations are out of this world! I especially appreciated the fact that I could order individualized pizzas for the different personalities of my family! Love the small town atmosphere with the big city pizza!
We get our pizza from the Millbrook branch. It has always been very good. We pick ours up, and everyone has been very friendly and professional. We have got pizza for over 25 yrs, and only got one average one one time- the rest are really really good!
An overall great pizza joint. Food is always hot and fresh, and the pizza crust is very good with a unique taste. The staff were a little slow, but the restraunt is new, training and time will fix that. Would definetly go back again and again.
Great food, but pricey. The pizzas are bigger than you'd think. The stuffed mushroom on a bed of greens was delicious. The service was great; we came at a non-busy time.
