When my husband and I first moved to Portland from the bay area we searched out all of the Indian restaurants as it is one of our favorite types of foods. When Namaste moved into the old Steamers Restaurant on Sandy we were cautiously excited. And, when they finally opened and we went for the first time we were elated as the food is simply some of the best we have found in Portland and now we eat there at least once a week. They have a buffet for lunch and dinner but if there is something you might like which is not on the buffet they graciously will bring it from the kitchen at your request. Their veggie pakoras are some of the best I've had and the buffet is quite abundant with usually more than you can ever want or desire for a meal. Complete with mango ice cream for dessert (among other sweets). I highly recommend this restaurant and am so delighted that we can stay in our own neighborhood and give up our search! By the way, you can also order from the menu if you prefer, the buffet is not mandatory.

I just moved in to town and have been searching for good vegetarian food, but never did I think I would find this amazing Indian Vegetarian restaurant. It’s a small place, no more than 10 tables, but the atmosphere has a great vibe. The food was sooo delicious!!! I have never eaten food that had so much flavor! I am new to being a vegetarian and if all vegetarian food tasted this good, I would have turned Vegetarian a long time ago. My favorite dish was the GOBI MANCHURIAN BITES. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought it was chicken or meat, but it was fried cauliflower tossed in an indo Chinese flower. This is a must try if you go here. I will be back
My son brought back a meal (to Coos Bay) from Kabobi in Portland. He had been there twice while visiting & couldn't stop talking about the food. The lamb kabobs were the best, so tender & full of nice garlic flavor, as though their mothers had been grazing on garlic. We also had some tasty dumblings & very long grain rice, good even the next day. Also loved the yoghurt sauce & spicy chicken. Wish I lived closer.
Tastiest Indian comfort food this side of the pond (coming from a London Indian food loyalist). It's all about that tikka masala here. Palak paneer is also great. High quality chicken (i.e. no weird bites) and ingredients.
Convenient downtown location, very good, healthy food at a great buffet price. Highly recommended.
Delicious food and only $7 for all you can eat lunch buffet. Awesome!
