I've been dealing with Stevens marine for over 30 years. As guiding is my business, I depend on my equipment and need it everyday. They have always been there for me, like last Friday September 30th. As I was nearing the end of my trip for that day I heard some metal on metal screeching noise and then a bad clacking noise coming from my motor. After seeing my guest for the day off, l called Stevens and got ahold of my man, Eric Pederson and explained my issue and he said it sounded like a compressor and to bring it over. By the time I got there it was already after 5:00pm and the mechanics had already left for the day, but between Eric and myself, we were able to change it out and I was back on the water for the next day's trip. And that's not the only time Stevens marine has saved my bacon. They haven't always been perfect, but they've always been there for me. Thanks again for 30 years of great service. the fact that they have their own machine shop saved me so much money. I was able to have my head resurfaced instead of having to replace the whole …
The guys are the sleazy car salesman of the PNW boating world. If you value your time and money, stay away.
My boat came in to swap out a depth gauge that was going bad. This is a simple plug and play fix that I confirmed with the boat manufacturer beforehand. Many phone calls and unanswered messages. Stevens promptly informs me that they somehow “burned up the gauge”. A month goes by, I arrive to pick up my boat as its all supposed to be done and ready only to be greeted by a sight that can only be described as a birds nest of wires, a dash that’s complete taken apart with loose wires everywhere, tools, nuts and bolts all over the place. Apparently these guys decided to try to rewire the whole dash with NO WIRING DIAGRAM by just cutting/splicing wires blind, in the process killing every possible electrical item in the boat. One of the techs came out and promptly blamed it on “the other tech that got fired” and informed me that they really are not sure how to fix it now.Stevens’ service department incompetence is only bested by their horrid customer service
The good folks at Cook Engine got my boat working like new again. Outstanding service, friendly staff, fair prices. I would trust my boat to them anytime.
I've used Cook Engine to service both my boats for the last 7 years and Jeff and his crew have always been extremely thero with their service work. They also bring items to my attention that I wouldn't have normally noticed saving me money in the long term and possibly a ruined weekend or getting stranded at sea. There bills have always been fair and I can't say enough good about the services they provide.
I took my boat in to Cook a few weeks ago when I found oil leaking into my engine compartment, they found the leaky gasket and had me back on the water fast even with how busy they were. The price was fair and I like how easy it is to bring my boat in. If you are a fisherman like me and time is money, I would go to Cook.
I went to Stevens marine in Tigard on a recommendation from a friend for winterizing and a detail. At first they were easy to deal with. Within a week I was getting the run around they weren’t sure if my boat was detailed yet or getting winterized. Finally after my many phone calls to check the status of my boat and 3 weeks later (they never called me to let me know what was going on) my boat was ready. I drove out there paid and then went to look at my boat. The detail job was beyond horrible, hull wasn’t waxed and still had dirt on it, the prop still had dirt on it, and the inside wasn’t even touched. To top it all off I find out they just pressure washed the outside and in the process soaked the inside of the boat. So much so they needed to keep in inside over night to dry out. I was not happy they admitted a poor job was done and agreed to finish the job and call me the next day. 12-12-12(the next day) came and went with no phone call. I showed up as they opened on 12-13-12 to just take my boat. The redue on the detail looked like a 5 year old trying to hide something from their parents. They somehow made my boat worse, they scratched my stainless steel prop and who know what other damage they did to my boat that I haven’t found yet. They have a complete disrespect for their customers and their property. I have never been so miss treated by a company. I need to have both the detail and winterizing redone as I have no faith in their work. The whole experience was horrible and I will never do business with them again.
Recently, I took my Grand Banks that I had inherited from my dad into Schooner Creek. It had been sitting outside for a long, long time. After the survey, my laundry list was huge! If my Dad had not have loved that thing so much, I may have just sold it. Overwhelmed by the amount of work that needed to be done, I sat down with Mike and Steve, and came up with a game plan. A year and a half to restore her! Wow! But, affordable. I made monthly payments and helped out with the work. (hint: you can save on labor by sweating a little! lol I lost 15 lbs in the process too!) But now that it's all done, you can't even believe this was the same boat! These guys were amazing to work with, very understanding, and really taught me that owning a boat takes pride and hard work. Thank you Schooner, I'll see you next year for my bottom paint!
