This was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and we were seated right away. The food was excellent! One of the specials was Crab Ravioli and we could not get enough! It was SO good! The wine selection is very nice and you can have ANY wine by the glass. This is a great date spot for a nice quiet dinner in a great atmosphere.

I have gone to Vitis with groups or with just another couple, and am surprised everytime by the cusine and staff. The food is wonderful and at an even better price, the wine list is incredible, and the owner will even chat with your party. I loved this place so much that we planned our company Christmas party there! This place is a real ""Portland Jem"".

My husband and I recently dined at Vitis and had a wonderful evening. The service was attentive, personable, and knowledgeable. We were celebrating a birthday and the whole staff including the owner made our experiece a perfect one. We have become regulars because we feel so at home here. The food is exceptional and we appreciated the server's suggestions. This is a great find!!!!!!!!! Wine list-Excellent!

I love this place and we always take friends from out of town to Vitis...the wine list is incredible and affordable (no huge mark-ups)! The small plates are wonderful since you can share them with friends and get a taste of the whole restaurant not just your entree. And I overheard that the owner/chef makes her own Kahlua and Lemoncillo...yummy! Also the Pear dessert is out of this world, okay everything is great. I need to tall you that they staff is friendly and knowledgeable about pairing food with wine, and they do not recommend the highest priced wine but what will complement your dinner and they pocketbook. I have never had bad service at Vitis, even when the place is packed...Thank you!

Great space, wonderful food and all wines by the glass - great combination. I have enjoyed my dinner every time. The steak, pasta, pizza and salads are all very tasty. My partner and I were in for Valentine and although the restaurant was packed to the gills the service was still friendly and the food was as good as ever. Loved the oysters.

Nine friends gathered at Vitis on Saturday night. We called ahead and were promptly accommodated. The ambiance and wine list were excellent. Unfortunately, extremely rude service caused our experience to quickly sour. We were in no rush, yet our waitress was so anxious to take our order, she literally TOLD us what she was bringing for appetizers. We made it a point to say we wanted to take our time and enjoy the evening. Her response? So you want the pasta with marinara? She rolled her eyes as we pondered menu choices and when my friend asked to see a menu, it was shoved in her face. By 8, the restaurant was out of pasta and pizza two of the three main vegetarian selections. At that point, we had enough and requested our bill. The chef generously paid the check, but the food was not worth the horrible experience.

My husband and I can't get enough of Vitis. The owner and staff are very friendly, the wine list is huge and almost everthing is by the glass. The Owner's grandmother is from Italy and a lot of the recipies are hers. The meatballs, antipasta, pizzas...everything we've had is amazingly good. We thought we'd try out the other wine bar in the pearl and they were so snooty, the food options were way over priced and they only had a handful of wines by the glass. We'll never stray from Vitis again!

First, I swear I visit Vitis more than it is actually open. I typically drive by for dining on Mondays and after the 6th visit, I may ""get it"" that they are closed. What is it about Mondays & restaurants? It drives me nuts. I think -- I'll visit Vitis because they don't have the ""walk in"" traffic that 21st & 23rd do, but when I go they are closed.
Anyway, 1 night I actually found them open. It was good. I had meatballs and tomatoes. The meatballs ROCKED! I highly recommend them. The tomatoes were hot, small and weird. I love tomatoes, but these didn't hit the spot. Service was good. The staff behind the bar was friendly when I arrived and on my depart. I appreciate that. So friendly that I wanted to stop again tonight. But - they were not open. Sigh. : - (

What a great experience my friends and I had at Vitis. We were celebrating my birthday and they happily accomodated our large group of 14, on a busy Friday night!! The wine list is out of this world and they have great signature martinis. The food was amazing for the price. The pasta of the day was pumpkin gnocchi, which I had with pesto, YUMMY! The service was great and the place is beautiful. I loved this place and will go back soon.

I arranged a dinner party here for a group of eight. Overall, it was disappointing. The portions are tiny, the specialty dish was gone even though it was early in the evening, the food was unremarkable. The wine list was extensive, but I thought it was overpriced. We wouldn't go back.

This place is wonderful. Great food, charming and attentive service and a warm atmosphere. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and were treated so well! Everything we had was delicious with one exception. The tuna/olive spread choice on the bruschetta was a bit salty for my taste but the caponata spread more than made up for it (the bread is to die for). Don't miss the Malfatti dumplings, and the shrimp with proscuitto were so tasty, and the meatballs (can't remember the name of the dish) are yummy too. Our server was very knowledgeable about their large wine list (where you can get everything by the glass) and gave us great suggestions. It was the perfect place to celebrate our special day.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I went in on last months' first Thursday. The place was humming with people and great energy. My favorite dishs are the malfatti, meat balls and pork rolls. The salads are generous and also delicious. You can't beat the prices and the food. I will be back. P.S. They also take reservations.

I have been searching all over for a restaurant that I can come to that is casual but classy, fabulous tasting but economical for my budget, and get the proper service as well! I finally found it and more at Vitis. I heard about Vitis from their great reviews in the papers, and decided I should give them a try. I am so glad I did. The food was perfect, the selection of wines was amazing (and I was so impressed with the servers knowledge and enthusiasm!), and the desert was to die for. The walnut popovers with honey...I definitely be back very soon! Thank you for such a great experience.

I am so impressed with the food, the presentation, the atmosphere, and especially the service! The wine selection is fabulous also.
My favorite for lunch was the Mozzarella sandwich with poached egg...yum! On another occassion for dinner I started with the Ensalata Mista and then had the scrumptious and perfectly done lamp chops rubbed with mint and rosemary. I have now tried two of their desserts and am now addicted to their bittersweet chocolate tart, but also have a hard time choosing between the tart and the walnut popovers....
I will definitely go back again and again, and refer friends and associates there. The atmosphere is clean, calm, and perfect for dining with friends, co-workers, on a date, with your family, or even by yourself!

Ate there 2 nights ago. Wasn't impressed. The food was okay, nothing spectacular, but wasn't uneatable either. The wine list is very large.
The biggest problem I had was the fact that the little halogen lights kept shinging in your eyes. IT was very annoying.
With so many other incredible restaurants within a few blocks, I can say that I won't go back.
