HORRIBLE!!!! Because the business has been around forever, you think you'd get good service. This would have been written two years ago (2014) but I only found their mistake this past November. In short: I took them my leaf blower to be repaired in Oct 2014. The counter guy, who barely could muster any energy (besides wipe his mouth while he ate a sandwich in front of me) took the blower & gave it a repair order. A day or two later, Mr. Sandwich calls me and tells me it's shot. Something to do with the intake. Can't fix it, would cost too much. Oh, & I paid $25 for this expertise. This is a $189 loss for me. I buy a new one online the same day. The broken one sat on my garage shelf for two years....until I changed the spark plug and air filter in Nov 2016 (a friend told me to try) PRESTO! With the same old gas, it fired up! Thanks Roy-Boy, for your complete incompetence. To everyone else, avoid this place like all get-out. P.S-- I still have the service tag from them on the blower they couldn't "fix." Tony in Sherwood, Oregon

I bought my new Stihl chainsaw here a few years ago, great service and a great product. I have been back several times to have chains sharpened and to buy some accessories. I highly recommend them.

I live out of town and get equipment shipped for our business all the time. I used them when I lived in Tigard and since moved my business. I know and love them and would not use anybody else.

Being a mom and trying to manage my lawn is very time consuming. They assembled everything for me in-house and did a test run to make sure I knew how to use it they made it easy to bring home and use.

The staff goes out of their way to help me and my family. I am a returning customer. That is alwasy appreciated.

They keep a wide inventory which is always nice whenever I go there they usually have what I need. The good thing about this place is even if they do not have any in stock they’ll find a way to get it for me.

They do have competitive pricing but it is worth it. Quality work my chainsaw hasn’t worked this good since it was first purchased.

Nice staff to work with. Felt like they actually cared about me as a customer as they went out of their way to get me a part that they didn’t already have in house.

I appreciate all of the help they provided. They were able to me point me in the right direction for my lawn care needs.

Great service every time. Thanks again for all your help. Ed, you mentioned that you've started fly fishing- I thought I 'd send you some articulated leeches. They work well. Enjoy

Todd was exceptional during the pick up of our mower!! Will definitely use these guys again!

I have had numerous mechanical problems with garden equipment, but I can always count on Roy-Boys to resolve my issues with a reasonable price, fast turnaround and extreme courtesy. They could give lessons to other companies on how to provide excellent service and happy customers.

Warning Repair Price Gouging Here

I bought a leaf blower, weed eater and chain saw from this shop and after a few uses the leaf blower started running rough. I brought it in for a tune up and was quoted $57. When I went to pick it up they charged me $81+ and said the extra charge was to steam clean the machine and replace several other parts even though it wasn't dirty and only had a few hours on it. The cost was more than half the cost of the blower new. I see from other reviews that this is a pattern and these guys scam repair cost in order to gouge you when you come to pick up your item. I will never buy anything, not product or service from this dishonest business again.

I have brought several yard tools to roy boys over the past 5 years. Specifically, honda lawnmower, riobi trimmer, mantis tiller, a chipper, and a cheap chainsaw.

First, I don't expect anybody to service anything for under $75 (jiffy-lube excluded). Second, usually I am coming in in spring along with everyone else, and I need to wait 2-3 weeks.

They have correctly fixed/serviced everything I brought in within the approximate time they told me and about the price they told me.

They told me not to fix my chainsaw that it was a piece of crap only meant to last one year. From what I know and what I paid for it I knew they were right on, and told them to recycle it and keep the 2 chains if they could use them. I kept the case. They encouraged me to buy an electric one for my use and I bought a cheap one from another store I am happy with.

I also brought in my Ryobi string trimmer with several attachments. They told me it would be $75-100 and that I should just buy a new one. I told them I had has this for over ten years and was very happy with it and had all the attachments. Could you fix it, I don't want it in the landfill. They said they could, and found a minor carbueration problem and it was only $35.

The fact that the store seems to have been at that location forever and I usually see professional yard service people there makes me think they know what they are doing.

Since posting last, I have been in twice, both times to make a purchase. The first visit a few days ago, saw me asking for Tori (the owner's wife, my first contact), but talking to Jay. Suffice it to say I was equally impressed with his customer service - again, honesty, knowledgeable, and willing to take the time to show and explain things in layman's language to ensure the correct model was purchased. I was really thrown back in my seat to find they don't give you a box and turn you loose. No, when you purchase a power tool at Roy-Boy's, it's fully assembled, gassed-up, and tested before it leaves. When I got home there was no assembly or prepping the hardware. I went to work immediately. Oh, and let's not forget that Jay (and earlier today, Tori) took the time to fill out the warranty cards AND register these products online with the manufacturer.

I am old enough to remember when this level of service was the norm; today, it is far and away the exception. Since I work in customer service myself, I am particularly in tune with the way in which I am treated, everywhere. And when I find a business that treats their customers as Roy's does, trust me when I say I will drive way out of my way to patronize said business.

Again, I can't recommend Roy-Boy's high enough. I am not an employee, family member, or someone being paid to post this. I am simply a man that greatly appreciates exemplary customer service such as I have and continue to receive at Roy-Boy's.

get clear estimate!

brought a mower in for overhaul, their estimate was about $90 and would be done in a week. After a week, no word. Called and they said they had just looked at it (day it was due to back), and it needed new parts now on order. called back 4 days later, mower was ready (they did not call me) and the cost was now $150. they had not called to check if i wanted to spend that much. rude on the phone but more polite in person

Repeat customer - No complaints here!

I have been bring my lawn mower here once a year, for may years. They are always very polite and helpful. the repair prices are always within range and they never talk down to me. In the beginning of the season I once had a three week wait but the last time it was done in two days ! and they called me on my cell phone as soon as it was done. Great customer service!

Roy Boy's Inc.

I would like to chime in here about the review I read about the Mantis Tiller codonovich wrote. People buy a piece of equipment and use it put it away without winterizing it or putting a gas additive like Sta-bil in the gas. Gas left in the fuel system will leave a lacquer build up in the carburetor. I have never had to take a piece of equipment to have it fixed for this reason, because I have made a practice of running Sta-bil year around in my lawn and garden equipment. After putting the equipment away for the winter, they take it out the next year and it doesn't run or it doesn't run properly, so they take it to a place like Roy Boy's and expect them to fix it for the price of the parts, ($10.00) and a half an hours labor when they have an influx of idiot cause issues sitting in their shop waiting to be fixed. This someone else, who may or may not be a competitor tells them how bad Roy Boy?s is. If this is a competitor codonovich, then I would be a little leery of them saying the Mantis could be fixed for the price of the parts, $10.00 in half an hour. This to me is a shady business practice. As for the sign that you say you did not see. Pay attention to what is going on around you. No one else is responsible for making sure you know everything. The signs have a reason for being there. Read!! You are supposed to be an adult. Act like one. The people working at Roy Boy?s see an influx of idiot cause issues sitting in their shop waiting to be fixed every year and they do their best to get them all fixed so they can stay in business and feed their families. Try going to work one day and doing your job for the price of parts and a half hour of labor and your policies being ignored by something for nothing individuals like yourself. I think you would get a bit testy by too. By the way, I have never been to Roy Boy?s, but I may start going there as a result of codonovich?s rating remarks?and I read signs.
