I agree with Mrs. Kurt. My daughter briefly attended Powellhurst Daycare back in 2011 and was miserable there. There was one young woman, Tammy, there who was very sweet to the children, but apart from that, there was a lot of yelling and meanness toward the kids, lots of TV, I once saw a staff member shove a boy while yelling at him to sit down.

It was one of the worst times of my life at times. I dreaded going there daily to see the ladies there be so rude to me and my friends. She honestly scared me so much that I cried often. I wasn't allowed to put chips in my sandwich, what kind of person doesn't allow a kid to put chips in their sandwich? Seriously? I made an account just to state this.. there was only one person there that I was okay with. I am not naming any names, (even if I could remember.) DO NOT MAKE YOUR CHILDREN GO HERE. It sucks. I agree with Mrs Kurt by the way.

I'm very bothered by the number of positive reviews here. So I feel I must share my opinion. I absolutely do NOT recommend going here.
The staff(minus one)have horrible attitudes toward the children. They order them around, shout at them, they're made to sit in the same spot for long periods of time, with very little play time... My child hated every second of being there. (s)he said that (s)he was shouted at constantly to 'Be quiet! Stop making that noise!' repeatedly throughout the day.
I saw the director rip a cracker sandwich out of a 3yr old girl's hand and slam it on the table, yelling ""Not like that!! Eat it like this!!"" My child put it perfectly. (s)he said ""[director's name] is NEVER happy. She's mad at us ALL the time, except when the moms and dads come. Then she's happy.""
These women have been in child care for many, many years. Experience is wonderful, but these women are simply burnt out. If you have no choice, use them. But please know that it is not a healthy environment.

my daughter used to go to Shannon's Child Care. that place is horrible, only in it for the money! My daughter loves powellhurst, they treat the kids so well, go on lots of summer field trips, fun themes for the day, ect.... Plus, they are a daycare, not school teachers, your kids are allowed to watch tv, play outside, read, draw, dress up, video games. My daughter likes the variety of things she gets to do after school and in summer. I would and have highly recommend this place to anyone. karen swan.

My daughter has attended this school for 3 years now. I could not be more pleased with her progress and the caring staff really pay attention to her every need. I feel that any child would benefit from their program. My daughter now knows all her letters, numbers and colors and is completely ready to start school. The variety of activities each day keep her interested and she wants to attend school even on the weekends!! Could not say enough good things about this place.

I can't say too much without giving myself away but... this daycare is really only in it for the money. That seems to be the main focus, rather than the children. Everytime I pick my child up the TV is ALWAYS on with children just sitting around it looking comatose. I have picked up my child at various times so it's not a time thing.
Recently, they have begun to close there doors whenever they feel like it. BLACK FRIDAY?!! What daycare closes on Black Friday? Then, Christmas Eve and now closing @ 3pm on New Years Eve. These are holidays that most people work. You must provide them with 2 weeks notice, on average, of being absent in order to avoid being charged, but they don't normally give 2 weeks notice of their changes to the parents.
When you call the main office the people who answer the phones are so rude. No ""Have a good day"" or ""Thank you"" or ""Your welcome"". You really get the feeling that it's all about the money. Yes they are competitively priced but come on... they do the minimum.
Then only recommendation I could make is DON?T TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO POWELLHURST DAYCARE.
