No contest, this is the best sports bar in Portland. The new TV's are amazing, the staff is friendly but not pushy (none of that ""Hi I'm so and so, want a order of onion rings?) and the food is great. I had the Viking Burger and it was big, juicy and tasty. My friend had the pork loin sandwich and it was just like the one on Man vs. Food! The deck is a great place to hang out - I want to have my birthday party here!

Service is good. Place and atmosphere, especially the deck in summer, are fine, but the food is repulsive. I would not serve what they ""cook"" to my worst enemy. Come to think of it this is exactly what I would serve to my worst enemy.
Come on On Deck, your beef is worse than McDonalds. Shame on you!

We've been to On Deck many times and will keep going back!! Great location, awesome selection of beers on tap, and attentive, friendly day bartender. Really good place to have a beer and watch the games, or even perfect for a business lunch. Best outdoor deck in town, and great happy hour menu I've seen in a while!!
I've been to On Deck quite a few times over the last few weeks for the Ducks' games.. It's an awesome atmosphere!! Ducks are ALWAYS on the big screen, and everyone is always really into the game. It gets really packed, so they have a tent outside for overflow. It's really nice in there as well, and when it gets cold they have a space heater to keep the tent warm. Their food is awesome, and even though they don't have it during Duck games, they have a great happy hour. Bud Light is always on special for game days, and if you're not a huge fan of the domestics they have an awesome variety of local beers on tap. It's definitely a place I'd recommend. They have a TON of TVs, and they'll put on pretty much anything you ask for. I'm going to continue heading there to see the Ducks take it all!!
Saw the stairs and the sign and decided to go on up and check it out. Was well worth my time! The staff was friendly and I really liked the atmosphere. Awesome selection of beers on tap and great happy hour food. Will be recommending this bar to my friends!
The deck is great, too. Awesome place to enjoy a few beers with your dog.
on deck is my fave!! i've gone here a couple times for business meetings, and just chillin with my pals. i love comin here for blazer games (and duck games ;)! ) and the staff is always SUPER sweet and accomidating...
...and if you're looking for a great happy hour - this is your spot! awesome food, great drink prices!
This is a great place to watch sports!! I went there on a whim to watch a blazers game last week and I had a great time. Lots of fans there watching and cheering for the blazers. The food was good and the happy hour specials are a great deal. I again went to the bar to watch football on sat. and the atmosphere was even better! What a fun place to go and enjoy a drink and watch a game. I suggest it to anyone who likes a fun sports bar feel with food that is better than most!
I had a great time at On Deck sports bar last weekend. A group of 10 of us visited to watch the Ducks play and it was the best place Ive been to watch a game. Our food was great and our waiter was especially helpful and friendly. They had tons of fans there which made a great atmospere and we got loud. The huge patio was sweet too I want to go back with my dog and I will deffently be back for the next game.
On Deck is a nice place to sit and enjoy a few drinks. I really enjoy their On Deck Mary which uses their House-Infused Habanero Vodka! Perfect to beat my hangover on the weekend and get ready for football. Lots of Ducks and Beaver fans here but other teams (and sports) are well represented. But make sure you get in early as the place fills up fast. Don't worry if you haven't had a chance for breakfast as they serve Brunch until 2pm.
Their happy hour is hard to beat, $3 well drinks and discounted prices on all their drafts as well as a nice line-up of food options. I usually go for the Chicken Nachos and the Pork Sliders.
The service is friendly and accommodating, making sure that you enjoy the most of your time (or day) there.

This place is fantastic! The balcony has an amazing view, ton's of room to roam, big screens all around, and a good looking staff. Great single's spot to come and meet some new faces as well. Lots of men ladies. Affordable happy hour and great selection. I will definitely be coming back.

This place is terrible!!! I came here with a party of 8...thats not that big they should have been able to handle it. they got everyones order wrong and managed to cook my burger to un-eatable!! when I asked for a new burger they said fine and went to ring the order in...45 min later when everyone was done eating and no burger had ever come after 3 times of asking, i told the waitress dont worry about it cancel the order. we got the bill and yes they did take the burger off but DID charge me for french fries!!! i was furious, the waitress the audacity to tell me ""well you did eat some of them"" WOW I ate them because you never brought my food out and i was starving! when I asked to speek to a manager I had to wait for 15 minutes and he still never came to the table I had to get out of my chair and find him! Not only was he rude he insulted me!!! By this time I was fuming, I walked out and decided to call the GM the next day, although he was much nicer and said he would send a gift card to apologize, he never sent it and dropped the ball!!! I have worked in customer service for the past 15 years and have never experienced something like this in my life!! this is a poorly ran business and should be shut down!

My wife and I just got married at On Deck and they did a wonderful job. Our guest and I had a blast. I would recommend this place to everyone to hold any kind of event. The staff is very nice, plus they are know what they are doing. If you are looking for a cool place to have an awesome event and a great time, I highly recommend on Deck. Special thanks to Dani and Joel!!!!

Awesome place. Bartender (Jamin) was great and very friendly. He let me sample some of the local beers so I can choose one I liked. Made me feel at home on my trip from Los Angeles. I visit Portland some now and I will definitely come back.
Thanks for a nice time.

I kind of have to laugh at the employees' review. I am a former employee and have moved on to better things. But you have to get your facts straight. First of all, On Deck has about 11-15 owners. They have had around 7 managers. Your math is wrong on that. If you look at the menu now, it has Asian food, Mexican food, Italian pastas, burgers, Salmon dishes, Oysters, and random bar fried food. It is scattered and people laugh when they get the menu because, though it tastes good, it is obviously not written by someone who understands the clientele. It's a sports bar! It's okay to have fried foods...and by the way...as an employee...I would think you might take the time to notice that about half that menu is still deep fried...so the new chef isn't winning any awards for saving anyone's cholesterol levels. Focus is important and listening to what people want is a good idea....which can't happen when your GM never is on the floor to meet her customers.
I encourage this employee to look at Kelly's work history and the last couple restaurants she ""no call no showed"" to and ask the servers at Portland City Grill and at Manzanas how great she was...you'll be greeted with a similar laugh to mine. Or anger, which I have also experienced. And as far as I've heard, Kelly is the only one fired. I think Juan is still there. But you'd know that if you paid attention to facts and not your emotions on this. I take it you are probably not one of the better employees at On Deck that she promoted after she fired all the ones that actually gave a sh*t at the restaurant...and now they are coming back to give a sh*t again and that scares you to death.
Use your head and look at the numbers. Cause there aren't that many coming in there since Kelly took over. Good luck.

since tonight was monday night football(preseason) i decided to give on deck a shot. i have lived in the pearl district in portland for three months. sat at the bar for ten minutes. the bartender was working on the register. never looked back or around once. two servers were also behind the bar but they both passed by me twice looking past me as if to say,"" you're not my responsibility."" after 10 minutes of being ignored i realized why this place with outdoor seating is totally dead on a monday when it's 72 degrees. i just left, and i guarantee you no one noticed.

I went to try the On Deck this past Saturday. We live in the neighborhood and we have been there before with horrible results. A lot of our neighbors have been talking and saying that The On Deck has been making some changes. There is a new GM and Chef so we thought OK one more time. ( Since we live across the street ) We were blown off our feet. The menu has grown and the service great. The crab and artichoke dip is to die for. We did meet the new GM and she is very intuitive with what the restaurant needs. Kelly has really taken the On Deck up to a level that it needed. She stated that they still are working on improving service, but I thought it was good. She also was very open to any ideas that we might have. Ya Kelly you are on the correct path. We will be back. Oh one more thing you can take your dog on the deck and they will pamper him.

I never review things online but after today I had to! The servers fought INFRONT of me about who would have to take my order since they were both so busy. Then after twenty minutes I had to go up to the bar to have them pour my beer and glass of wine (while the tickets just sat there waiting). When our server walked by to take someone else their drink we asked how much longer for food. (We were at 40+ minutes) The server said he didn't know but it wasn't his fault since he put our order in. We then just asked him to check since it had been awhile and he then came back with ""I'm NOT the one cooking it!"". I can't believe that this guy thinks he's getting a tip at all at this point! Customer service means you say I'm not sure and I'll check on that! After this I go in and talk to the manager. He is nice and says he'll come and talk with us after the meal. We wait for about 15 minutes after we are done eating, he comes out, and his excuse is that ""upper management won't allow him to staff accordingly and that there isn't enough money to do this!"" NEVER tell a customer that. He then states that ""we've gotten over 200 resumes in the last 4 days"" so things should be better soon! WHAT?!?!?! DO NOT waste your time on this place, it was by far the worst service ever, my food didn't even come out as ordered but there was never a server around to correct it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not give your money to this company. Guys- don't take your ladies out to this place just cause it has a cool roof deck, it's NOT worth the hassle!

This place is notorious for overpriced food and lousy service. But hey, it's on a roof, so how cool is that? And why is it that as soon as a couple of bad reviews come in that a bunch of people like the one below start in with how unfair all the people who gave a negative review are? These are people who had a lousy time, or, in my case discovered how crummy a neighbor this business is. The guy below hasn't even been there but gives five stars. The real story? It's a mediocre sports bar with a bunch of TVs. At least it appears they've been trying to be a decent neighbor lately, which is appreciated.

I haven't been to this restaurant yet, but will be trying it out soon. After reading all the reviews I had to post something myself. Listen, if you have something REAL to complain about then great, but everyone is whining about rediculous stuff!! Every single restaurant that I have ever been to in my life (including many from several states of the great USA as well as hundreds from several other countries) has slow days, bad days, days that things just don't want to come together smoothly. In fact, every single person I have ever known has had days like these and unless you are from another world, I would guess everyone who has posted on here has had a similar day if not many. Why would you want to attact a person or a business because of something that you yourself have experienced several times? It only shows you as being a snob and nobody will ever take you seriously when you have something real to complain about. I own a cleaning business in the Portland area and am also a teacher and so I am around different kinds of people all the time. I have learned that some people just get off on being mean and actually enjoy putting others down. I cannot imagine a person enjoying hatred so much, but some do. Clearly it is these people who are posting here and I would watch out if I were you, because EVERYONE gets back what they put out and some of you have some really terrible things coming back your way!!!!!!! I want to say to the owners of this restaurant that I am sorry you have been the victim of such negativity, but hang in there. It's not so bad to lose customers of these sorts and I have no doubt that you are keeping the good ones!
