We just sold our ""high end"" custom made bedroom furniture made by Kai on Craigs List for $400 - the finish was terrible, the wood started to splinter and Kai wouldn't acknowledge any of our concerns. Also, he misrepresented himself as a licensed, bonded contractor with the State of OR - after many attempts to get Kai to address our problems, we turned to the Builders Board, where it was discovered, he is working illegally without a license! We had may more problems with Kai, for our 40k in purchases but will just say buyer beware and not pay up front and learn about the ""no warranty"" policy.

As a local interior and furniture designer I have used Kai's services on most of my projects.
I particularly like that he is flexible to my designs, finishes and special needs of my clients that I propose.
His manufacturing is always within a resonable time. He resolves any issued created in delivery, his installations are professional.

My husband and I bought a dining table from them a couple years ago. The cherry wood is rubbed with oil and feels just super smooth. Unfortunately, it got scratched at a party and we didn't feel comfortable repairing the scratches ourselves. So we called them up and inquired about a repair. They came out, took the table to their shop, and resurfaced the top for free. We are really impressed!

We highly recommend Master Furniture Makers to anyone who is looking for fine custom furniture. We commissioned a hand worked Tuscany -style dining table and are just in love with the piece we received. We learned so much about wood the the craft along the way. The people there are true artists and they seem to be so passionate about creating quality furniture. It was great fun !

Kai really went the extra mile to make sure we had a clear vision of our future bedroom furniture. From the initial meeting to the computer drawings, to the to-scale layout in the shop, we were very well guided and very impressed with the professionalism. Our bed, dresser and nightstands turned out wonderful.

I moved to Portland a couple of years ago and had a really hard time finding someone who could design and built an Art Nouveau bar cabinet for me. I tried The Joinery, Altura Furniture and a few other places in town. They were either too Arts and Crafty or ridget about custom designs. Then I found this furniture maker in SE Portland. The owner really translated my vision into a stunning design. The details of my bar-cabinet are simply beautiful. I think, this might be the best custom furniture maker in Portland.

Our interior designer recommended this furniture maker to us. We were looking to have a dining room set designed for us. Their studio is very cute and we were impressed from the first meeting with their elegant and traditional approach to furniture making. (The owner learned furniture design in Germany). We had all our questions answered upfront ; we even viewed the table and chairs in the building-process. In the end all the pieces where completed and delivered on time and on budget, and we are delighted with the craftsmanship and the special care for the smallest details.
We highly recommend Master Furniture Makers and will commission more furniture in the future with them.
