Resin Composite
The most inexpensive way to rebuild the bite surfaces of the natural teeth is with a tooth-colored plastic filling material called composite resin. It bonds with tremendous strength to enamel, and it provides some structural reinforcement for teeth that have been weakened by fillings, but it will chip or wear down over time, requiring maintenance by your general dentist.
Veneers
RETENTION - After the expansion process is completed, the palatal width must be retained by wearing a removeable retainer every night and by having a stable bite during the day. Wide palates are naturally retained by strong chewing, and strong chewing requires stable bites. Realigning the teeth into a smooth and continuous arch shape, such as with finger springs or veneers, also helps with retention.
Crowns
Another result of the lack of regulation and the spread of misinformation is that dentists have become easy targets for all kinds of diagnostic tools that have never been shown to be clinically effective, - including TENS, doppler auscultation, joint vibration analysis, sonography, thermography, surface EMG, jaw tracking, and TEK scan bite analysis. The Myotronics "neuromuscular" equipment was the first of a long line of products that were successfully marketed for diagnosis and treatment of TMJ disorders, even though the information they provide has no clinical relevance; and it is now being used to justify treatment with the "myoaligner" that leads to new crowns on all the teeth to support the new bite determined by the misleading diagnostic equipment. Devices for analyzing TMJ joint sounds (Doppler and Joint Vibration Analysis) are no more accurate than a stethascope. Disclusion time reduction (DTR) is a concept that was simply invented to market a technology in spite of the fact that it has no scientific basis - shorter disclusion times have never been shown to be healthier than longer ones, and short disclusion times are not found in the natural dentitions of hominids or other mammals. Botox has become a popular management tool, even though it works by weakening the jaw muscles, which limits their ability to regulate subsequent (adult) facial growth, which is at the root of most TMJ disorders; and the same reduction of jaw muscle activity can be produced by wearing a front flat bite plate appliance during sleep. NTI appliances are used widely and non-specifically, because they sometimes relieve headaches, probably for the same reason that Botox and front flat bite plate appliances do.
Bridges
Centric relation (CR), which is still the most commonly held bite philosophy and a deeply held belief system among many dentists, is a conceptual model that grew out of the use of hinge articulators to set denture teeth. A century ago, dentists making dentures learned that, if the mandible and lower dentition are pushed back as far as possible, they can be made to consistently rotate open and closed like a hinge around an axis drawn between the TMJs; and if the denture teeth are set to all contact at the same height on that hinge-axis closing trajectory, the dentures remain stable during chewing and swallowing. Later when dentists making crowns and bridges needed to include effective chewing surfaces, they found that limiting mandibular bracing to the posterior border of its range of motion in this manner provided a consistently reproducible way to locate a single mandibular position at which the teeth could be made to fit together, which seemed to enable effective chewing and prevent the rapid periodontal breakdown that sometimes occurred when other positions were used to build the bite. Centric relation was embraced by dentists and dental labs. It seemed to work clinically, and it provided a consistent reference point for comparing different bites and changes to bites.
Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
1) REDUCING THE FORCES USED IN NOCTURNAL GRINDING AND CLENCHING - Nocturnal bruxism (grinding and/or clenching) occurs in everybody during transitions between sleep stages, but it can be destructive. Clenching can make teeth sensitive to hot and cold by impeding circulation to their pulps; and eventually it can strangle them and cause them to die and need root canals. Grinding exacerbates gum disease by loosening the teeth like rocking a fence post, and it can cause little V-shaped gumline defects called abfractions by bending the teeth just above the socket rim where it breaks away little bits of enamel, leaving gaps that trap food and cause decay. Front flat bite plate appliances eliminate all the bruxism forces on the molars and premolars. They also reduce the bruxism forces applied to the rest of the teeth, because the jaw muscles are wired in a positive feedback loop that requires stable contacts on the back teeth to provide a proprioceptive "go ahead" from the neuromuscular system before they can fire strongly, and therefore eliminating all back teeth contacts reduces the forces of nocturnal bruxism by about half the first night you wear the device and every night afterwards. This reduction of bruxism forces can relieve a number of dental problems such as cold sensitivity, tooth wear, some aspects of gum disease in a manner that is more effective and healthier than Botox.

Dentures
The new add-on airway components that control the tongue and elevate the soft palate can be attached to most oral appliances made of dental acrylic, including dentures and other mandibular advancement appliances. However they cannot be attached to oral appliances made of nylon or polymers other than acrylic, such as the Narval and Panthera appliances, and they cannot function in appliances that do not allow opening and closing, such as TAP, EMA, Silent Night, and monobloc appliances.

5) OPEN SURGERY - Open surgery can be used to physically manipulate the disk back in place and suture it to mini-implants in the bone of the condyle, however open surgery can creaete long term problems by preventing natural adaptation from occurring, and requiring subsequent surgeries to clean out the scar tissue left by the previous surgery.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
OPEN SURGERY of the TMJ is risky, because failures can be disasterous due to a build-up of scar tissue can prevent natural adaptation. Further surgeries are necessary to clean out the scar tissue, but the chance of eliminating the pain decreases with each successive surgery. For that reason, even the oral surgery journals warn that open TMJ surgery should be considered a last resort. Unfortunately, there are still oral surgeons who only provide a simple nightguard before concluding that conservative treatment is ineffective and therefore surgery is necessary.
Jaw Surgery
The airway protective reflexes controlling the jaw muscles (especially the superior lateral pterygoids, the genioglossus, and the geniohyoids) keep the lower jawbone protruded as far as needed to permit breathing. When people are sleeping on their backs, the retrusive effect of gravity on the lower jawbone evokes increased tonus in the superior lateral pterygoid muscles that are in position to hold the lower jawbone forward. After orthognathic surgery to retrude the front of the lower jawbone, muscle resting postures still maintain a constant minimal distance between the back of the hyoid bone and the posterior pharyngeal wall. In some instances, the base of the tongue actually moves forward as the front of the lower jawbone is moved backward. Muscular adaptations occur all the way down to the level of the clavicle.
Tooth Extractions

Orthodontics
An even higher priority for the neuromuscular system is to protect the airway passage running through its center. Neuromuscular reflexes ensure that all the muscles of the head and neck will automatically acquire whatever resting postures are necessary to keep the airway passage open. Any orthodontics that moves teeth or jawbones into the path of the airway passage will fail, because the tongue will eventually reposition them in any way it needs to keep the airway passage open; therefore orthodontists need to at least consider the role of the airway.
Invisalign Orthodontics
The cost of single stage treatment involving a removable appliance is $1800. A second stage is often added at a reduced cost for fine tuning of tooth positions. Either first or second stage appliance can later serve as a post-treatment retainer, or a separate retainer can be made incorporating invisalign type mechanics for further minor tooth movements.
Braces
To understand the relationship between bites and body posture requires seeing how they evolved together. In mammals, the teeth form a structural platform on which the mandible exercises and braces, and neuromuscular reflexes are programmed to hold the mandible in a postural position just beneath the center of that platform in order to enable rapid and secure access to mandibular bracing, which was necessary to protect the vital areas behind the mandibular condyles. When the acquisition of upright posture in hominids rerouted the airway passage through the center of the face and made it bend around the mandible, mandibular posture and head posture became inversely proportional in a sagittal plane. If either bone shifts anteriorly or posteriorly, the other bone shifts in the opposite direction. In modern humans, the softening of our diet along with synergistic restrictions to horizontal facial growth due to skeletal muscle hypofunction and impairments to airway flow from pollutants and allergies have inhibited the anterior growth of the mandible, which has shifted average mandibular bracing and postural locations posteriorly, which may be an important cause of the accompanying shift of average head posture anteriorly. Many modern humans have mandibular bracing and postural locations that have also shifted laterally, which tips the head to the same side as the shift of the mandible due to increased ipsilateral temporalis muscle tonus. Dentists can help other health care professionals restore postural health by extending or shifting the mandibular bracing position in conjunction with synergistic efforts to improve head and body posture.

Teeth Whitening
Toothpaste contains an abrasive, a mineral (usually flouride), a foaming agent, and a sweetener. Abrasives help scour the surfaces, flouride is one of the minerals that helps harden the surfaces of teeth, and foaming agents that feel good but are otherwise unnecessary. Some toothpastes also contain herbs and essential oils or whitening agents, designed to make your teeth feel clean and fresh. Salt and baking soda are helpful for preventing cavities in those who are still cavity prone, because they buffer the acids that microbes produce to drill holes through the enamel.
General Dentistry
GENERAL DENTISTRY - We perform no general dentistry, therefore you need to have your own general dentist to be sure your gums and teeth are healthy. A toothache or inflamed gums can trigger the same type of reflex jaw muscle tightening that a damaged TMJ can trigger, and it often needs to be ruled out as a possible cause. Also we perform no esthetic orthodontics (braces or clear aligners). The only type of orthodontics we provide is functional orthodontics using removeable oral appliances that include orthopedic corrections to treat or prevent TMJ disorders by improving the pattern of jaw and facial growth, usually in adults.
