Be careful

To whomever it may concern, It's been a challenge locating a good automotive repair shop, one that understands the importance of good customer service. Our line of business is in the construction service field and requires us to operate a fleet of vans. Being new to the area, we've been searching for a good local automotive repair shop that can keep our vehicles in top running condition, "Our Business Depends On It". A few weeks ago we had one of our vehicles need service because it had a slight miss when the accelerator was depressed. We found Honest One Auto Care and decided to give them a shot. Their located at 6332 SE 82nd Ave. Portland. Anyway, we dropped off the van on a Thursday and the very next day we were informed the fuel pump was the cause and needed to be replaced. Our cost for them to install a brand new fuel pump was $867.00. We felt the price was high but to go ahead and do the repair anyway. That Friday afternoon we were notified the work had been completed and was ready for pick-up. The following Monday we had one of our field service techs report the miss fire hadn't been resolved. We called Honest One Auto Care immediately to have them look into the problem as soon as possible. We dropped the van off once again that Thursday. After they further inspected the problem, they informed us they had discovered the number three cylinder spark plug wire was fried because it was resting on the exhaust manifold and that a new set was required to repair the real problem, the cost $155.00. We were a little concerned as to why we just purchased a new fuel pump that we didn't even need because it didn't resolve the problem. Regardless, we had them do the new spark plug wire install hoping this would indeed fix the problem. The very next day, Friday we picked-up the van in the afternoon and drove it directly to our shop approximately 8 miles and discovered the exact same problem. At this point our management team became concerned regarding whether they were competent enough to fix the problem or whether or not they were equipped to perform such a repair but decided to have them take one final look at it. The following day they went ahead and made the decision to replace the coil but did not notify us that it was faulty and that it needed to be replaced, they called us after the work was done for pick-up. The cost for a new coil was $187.00. They said they were not certain it would not resolve the problem however. We believe they got lucky, because this time the problem was finally fixed when the coil was replaced, but not before we otherwise unnecessarily spent $1,022.00 on other parts and labor we possibly didn't need. When we tried to discuss our concern with the owner regarding these unnecessary cost and inconveniences we were told if you don't like it here, then "go somewhere else". The customer service was very poor and their attitude was disingenuous not to mention rude, unprofessional and dishonest. We would not recommend this auto repair shop to anyone. Let me explain further, "If you had a broken leg, you would go see a doctor and hope he or she would fix your broken leg and not give you a heart transplant, radiation for cancer and then finally a cast to fix your broken leg". Wow! The devil resides here, he hopes by hiding behind sheep's skin and by telling you he's honest that you also will become his prey. We learned the hard way…..so be very careful whoever you choose. Good luck!

THIS BUSINESS WILL RIP YOU OFF

I would give this establishment zero stars if I could, unfortunately I cannot. I can only plead for people to GO GET THEIR REPAIRS DONE SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THIS PLACE. They take advantage of people, and do not use good parts for repairs. Here are two examples.1. I took my car here from 2011-2012 for various repairs. The only reason I stopped going (at that point) was because I moved and it was an inconvenience to drive that far. I have taken my car in to a different mechanic since and I am now fixing all the problems that they caused in the first place. I got a timing belt done here in 2011 which they charged me approximately $700. After this I had to take it back a handful more times because oil was leaking from my vehicle and every time they replaced a different gasket or seal to fix the problem. The problem was never fixed. Just after 2 years, I did a dye test at the new mechanic (which was never offered to me at this location in which dye is put into your car to see exactly where the oil leak is coming from) and it turns out the leaks were coming from everywhere! All the parts had failed and I had to have an entirely new timing belt put in along with all the seals. Because they only have a one year warranty on their parts, there was nothing I could do and no refund was given. 2. Another time I took my car in (2011 again) and they said I needed to replace the spark plugs in my car. Since I did not remember having that done I agreed and the spark plugs were replaced. I had an oil change the other day and my new mechanic says I need new spark plugs. After I told him I just got them done in 2011, he looked confused and proceeded to actually remove one and see if they were OE or not. Low and behold the mechanics from this store PUT IN THE WRONG TYPE OF SPARK PLUGS FOR MY VEHICLE. I have a Honda and they put in spark plugs for a Ford. When I went back to look at my receipt they only changed 1 spark plug (out of 4) and charged me $44.00 in labor. The new mechanic quoted me $56 to removed and replace all 4! Again, it is after the warranty period and nothing I could do to get my money back. Although if they offered to fix the problem for free there is no way I would ever come back here. I'm sure in the months and years to come I will find more problems that need to be fixed from the individuals at this garage. They do not know what they are doing, and if they do know, it means they are just taking advantage of everyday people and charging them as much money as they possibly can. Despite their name, this business is anything but "honest."
