I've been going to Cynthia for electrolysis and facials for the past three years, and my experience has been really great. She is attentive to detail and makes sure you leave the building looking better than when you came in (no scabs)! As for facials, I highly recommend the skinpeel, which is slightly more intense than microdermabrasion and good at getting rid of scars. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough!

I originally came to the aesthetics institute to receive a student facial. i was surprised at the atmosphere, the services are one of a kind and the staff are very outgoing and friendly. i have never been to a school that had privet treatment rooms (more than one) and such advanced services. MICRODERMABRASION, EUROPEAN FACIALS, PHOTO LIGHT THERAPY, AND MICRO-CURRENTS!!! all of this and more provided by students with the supervision of instructors! i began my relationship with the school until my work schedule got a little crazy, thats when i started receiving professional services by one of the instructors Monique (mendoza) Raab. for just a little more than what the students charge for a microdermabrasion, i can receive a professional service with the expertise of an instructor. wow im hooked for life!
Pros: great service, CLEAN, nice environment, great professional services available on weekends and evenings.

Trusting your skin care is not something you do with anyone. The Owner and staff at the Aesthetics Institute are people you can trust to speak truthfully and trust that they will evaluate your skin carefully to determine what treatment is best for you. I have been going to the Aetsthetics Institute for over 10 years for facials and electrolysis. I have never left their salon without feeling that I was treated well and felt better about how I looked. I was given a gift certifate to another ""fancy"" salon in NW Portland and was so disappointed in the service I received; I gave the unused portion of the gift certificate away. To me receiving a facial is more than just slapping scented cream on my face. The Aesthetics Institute is the only place in Portland that I will go for skin care.

My 19 year old daughter has terrible skin. It's broken out, dehydrated & she has large pores & a rough texture. She tried the Lumifacial at the school & had dramatic & lasting effects after the 1st treatment! It was truly astonishing & amazing. I know it was the treatments because she does not take care of her skin at home. PLUS, she LOVED the treatment because it was so easy & relaxing.
There's a $35 & a $65 option but basically you get cleansed, lay down & relax under a four-color light show depending on your skin condition, & get a moisturizer. It's my understanding that this is the most advanced technolgy available using light therapy for skin rejuvenation, & I don't know of anywhere else in Portalnd that it's available. She did the program for acne but the Lumifacial can also target photo-aging issues, pigmentation problems & redness. If you struggle with any of these areas you owe it to yourself to make an appointment & see for yourself. I promise that if you should find the technology somewhere else you'll spend at least twice as much. While you're there pick up one of their menus for other available services & you will be delighted to discover that you too can now afford all sorts of wonderful skin care services.

i have been coming to the aesthetics institute since i was a freshman in high school,. i can honestly say that every treatment i have had was fabulous. i really like the fact that the instructors are there to give advice to the students and suggest other products and treatments. i feel very taken care of and feel like i am at a real spa. there are also professional services available as well. I have had other student facials elsewhere and even professionals but when i go to the institute i receive great services and they are always bringing new technology and holistic practices as well. If i had to describe it i would say CLEAN, PROFESSIONAL, AND CONSISTENT.

I just graduated from the Aesthetics Institute and I cannot say enough about the quality and integrity of the instructors, products, equipment and attention to sanitation this school demonstrates. I highly recommend this school for students who are serious about studying skin care, and for clients interested in receiving excellent service and cutting edge treatments for a fraction of the cost.

I love facials and dare say have tried all the ""schools"" in portland...that is until I found the Esthetics Institute on Powell Blvd. This school truly takes it ALL to the next level. The way I love facials I could not afford a ""spa"" on a regular basis but I always feel like I am in a spa when I go here. They have lovely private rooms with soft music. They always offer bolsters for under my knees to make me comfortable. My experience with the esthetician student and the teachers have been nothing but positive. I have a ""thick file"" here as I have been a faithful client for the last 8 years and will never go elsewhere. Why should I? I have always been treated with the utmost respect and in a professional manner. My treatments run at least 50%-75% off spa prices and with their up to date machines I enjoy a monthly 'LUMI LIFT"".(you've got to try this!) and sometimes during the month I squeeze in a 1 hour refresher facial at an unbelievable $15.00. I can afford to pamper myself with these prices and I REALLY feel pampered by the staff here. Try their microdermabrasion which is wonderful!
You gotta try this place!!!!!!!!

I went for a nice, relaxing facial which turned into a uncomfortable, stressful situation. While having my facial the instructor came in and belittled the student while trying to make herself sound good. I thought the gal was doing a great job and I was really enjoying it up to that point. I couldn't wait to get out of there and I will not ever go back there again.
