I also don't know what that complaints are about. He seems busy so good for him! He has given me prompt excellent service both times I've been there (Portland native and know good Portland service when I get it) The five pair of pants have come out perfect, worth the price always good length and good tapered leg which is hard to get right for most places. Give him a shot.

I see reviews on here that just make me nauseous! This is an AMAZING place with some of the best costumer service out there. I don't see how people can be complaining about anything when the prices are perfect, the people are wonderful, and my entire experience there are always top notch. Whenever I need something tailored I make my way down to this shop; they are always smiling and welcoming me into their shop. The only time I see disputes is when the costumer has a bad attitude, people should not look at the bad reviews because after going there for more than 3 years now, I have noticed that The Alteration Station is a top favorite of mine!

I have brought a few things in for alterations in the past with satisfactory results but my most recent experience made me feel I should warn others. I brought in a jacket to have the collar altered and when it came back it was not as I had expected. I went back and said I felt there had been a miscommunication and was there anything to be done. He told me he would call me. When he did call, he left an aggressive message that they did everything exactly right and I was totally wrong. He did not even offer to fix it at a reduced price. When I went it pick up my jacket there was a large mark on the sleeve that I pointed out. He got very angry and said the jacket had never been out of the bag and he was not to blame. I pointed out that the jacket was indeed out of the bag and I had not taken it out. This made him even angrier and he yelled until I left the store.

I took a dress into Alteration Station to get let out a 1/2 inch on each side. Not a big order but I can't do it myself. They said it would be $80. I laughed and said ""no thanks I paid $10 for the dress!"".
I then went to the alteration place in NE and the lady actually measured me, told me exactly what she would be doing, and said it would be $25. Now THAT is customer service and at less than 1/2 the price.

I brought in a gown to be altered and instead of letting me know he was unable to perform the job adequately, as any seamster/ress would, the (presumed) owner took my money and didn't do what I asked. I took the dress home without trying it on in the shop because I was in a hurry (lesson learned!!!! will never do that again). When I returned and tried to show him what I originally requested he would not let me speak and told me to stop insulting him. I didn't know telling someone what you want was insulting. He asked me what I wanted him to do... It's YOUR job to know if you are specializing in a certain service so you need to be knowledgeable in your own trade.
I promptly took my dress to another seamstress who was very nice and said that if there was a job she was unable to do she would let me know upfront.
I don't recommend anyone go to Alteration Station EVER. It is NOT okay to argue with the customer. Have some integrity about your work and your customer service... or rather, lack thereof.
Cons: Customer Service
Alteration Station at the Lloyd Center has always done an excellent job with all of my alteration needs. Salim is very friendly and provides excellent customer service. They are always able to complete everything in a reasonable amount of time and the quality is great. I would reccomend Alteration Station to everyone!
I am a 7 year costumer of this shop, i recently witnessed dispute between the owner and a costumer. A lady brought in jeans to be patched and when she came to pick it up she was not happy with the patches so the owner gave her $7 back and removed the patch and said to her ""Ma'am have a nice day"" the costumer said that she doesn't deserve to be treated that way and started to complain to the other costumers in the shop and saying ""i hope he treats you the same way"" so i replied, ""I have been coming here for 7 years and have received nothing but outstanding costumer service""
I think that this lady was out of line and rude and wrong because the owner did everything to please her and she did not appreciate any of it. before she left she threatened that she is going to post really bad reviews about this shop. throughout this dispute the owner was respectful and nice and only said ""have a nice day""
I recently bought an expensive dress from cache that I needed to be altered. I took it to four shops to be altered and all of them told me that it was very complicated to do and costs $200, the last place I took it to told me that I should take it to alteration station on Broadway and if they could not alter it then it cannot be done. So I took it there and they told me that they can do it for only $140. I picked it up after three days and was very satisfied with the way the dress looked. I recommend Alteration station on Broadway for everyone!

This shop really knows their trade.
I've read some complaints regarding ""personality"" issues but given that many other shops offer ""friendliness"" but shoddy work, I think I would prefer the quality work offered her over trying to be my best friend.
I personally have never experienced rudeness. They are matter of fact, professional and get the job done.
Perhaps it has more to do with the approach being taken when staring the communication more than the shops reaction.

I wish that I would have checked Citysearch previous to taking something to be altered here. The reviews which speak poorly of the service and communication are right on. Although some had no complaints about the actual alterations themselves that was not my experience either.
I was almost timid to write a complaint by reading the berating responses the owner posted back to people. That is the way he treats you in his shop as well. It was a very stressful experience for a very important occasion and when I got my item back it was not even done properly. The seams came undone and didn't even look professional. I'm always hesitant to post a negative response on here but in this case I hope I can save someone else the time, stress and money.

I took a dress to Alteration Station two weeks ago because the hem had come out in the back. I wanted to wear the dress that night so I called to see if they could fix it the same day. The man I talked to on the phone said they could fix it the same day but would charge $5 extra. I took it in that morning and picked it up 2 hours later. I wore the dress twice, and on the second wearing, I noticed thread hanging down in the back. The hem had come out again. I took it back to Alteration Station today thinking they would fix it, but instead, the man (who I talked to on the phone and met in person at the store 2 weeks ago when I dropped it off for the first time) said that they didn't use that thread and they had never fixed the dress. I no longer had my receipt, but I had taken the dress into the store myself just 2 weeks prior. I told him this and also mentioned that I had called ahead to see if it could be done in one day - I was trying to refresh his memory of my having been there. He showed me that the hem of the dress has a few different kinds of thread in it, so had been hemmed more than once before. I bought the dress second hand so it is possible that it had been hemmed somewhere else in the past. But he was denying that they had ever fixed the dress at all. He said he did not believe the dress had ever been in his store. His attitude was very dismissive and rude. I left the store shocked, and he made me feel so uncomfortable that I came home and checked my credit card receipt even though I knew I had taken the dress to that shop and to him specifically. My credit card receipt confirmed that they had hemmed the dress 2 weeks ago. I will absolutely never take anything to this store again.

I have used this shop before and didn't have any problems. This time I am left with a bad taste and am not sure I will be a returning customer. I just spent $100 on alterations and the alterations themselves were well done and completed on time.
My problem is with the customer service that I experienced. There was a mix-up regarding the number of pieces that I had altered which was my fault -- not theirs. When I called to figure things out, the owner of the shop was extremely brusque while I tried to be as polite as possible. When I called back to let him know that the mix-up was my fault (faulty memory) and apologize, he chalked up his rudeness to customers waiting, but was again extremely rude and hung up on me again.
I am shocked by his behavior. He needs to hire a counter person if he is so busy that he feels the need to be rude to his customers. I don't think I am willing to use this shop next time I need alterations. The city is big enough that I can go somewhere that appreciates the value of good problem solving skills.
I hate writing bad reviews and wish that he had just apologized for his rudeness instead of trying to justify it. Bummed out!!!
I have had several garments fitted here and they are always just how I wanted them. The staff fits the garment and does the work in a timely and friendly manner. I recommend them for any kind of alterations. The location is great too. Easy to find and parking is usually no problem.
Thanks for the great work!!

I recently had my wedding gown altered at Alteration Station. The owner did a fantastic job! My gown was very complicated to work with, being made of chiffon. He made a beautiful bustle and cut down the train perfectly.
I highly recommend this place for all of your alterations because if he can do what he did to my wedding gown, I would trust him with anything!

Had a suit altered there upon recommendation from my mother. It needed basics: Length hemmed and cuffs. I also requested the jacket be pinned to compliment my figure.
Suit was ready the following week as agreed. (I was in no hurry) Jacket fit PERFECT, exactly how I wanted it and looks fantastic.
Pants also were perfect. I think I got a 1.25"" cuff with a full break. I didnt specify what I wanted in the hem and cuff. If you are one of those men who likes the highwater look make sure you tell whoever helps you.
I dropped off the suit with the man there and picked it up from the woman. They are both nice. This is where I will go for any alterations from now on. Great Value.

I found Alteration Station through City Search and the reviews looked great. I have been a seamstress myself for many years and working especially in bridal alterations for 5+ years. I decided to bring in my bridesmaid dress to be altered by Alteration Station, because my schedule is very packed and they had high recommendations. The first time I was there for pinning, the experience was great. Fast and friendly. I picked up the dress last Thursday and was happy that this little chore was taken off my plate. Monday night, I remembered that I should try on the dress to make sure everything was okay. I tried it on and it was VERY tight. I couldn't breath and it was pinching in my waist so bad that the boning was jabbing my rib bones. I took the dress back in this morning with hopes of having it corrected. When I expressed my concerns to the owner, he said that I came in asking for my dress to be tight, tight, tight. That is not the case at all, in fact, I asked him to take the least amount out of the waist if any at all. He got very defensive and after I decided that I will just take the dress home and fix it myself he walked off on me. No goodbye, or sorry for this confusion, nothing. I have actually never been walked off on before by someone I just paid to do a service for me. I was pretty shocked.
I do still think Alteration Station can do a great job on people's alterations, but this situation was handled so poorly. I was confused with another customer and that customer's wants and then I was just left standing at the front counter. For that reason, I will not be returning and I issue a customer beware.
