We have bought two cars 3 years ago, one from Portland Motor Sales and one somewhere else. The car we bought from Portland Motor Sales was in perfect condition and John and his team maintained both cars excellent, with good quotes and quality work, giving estimates before the work and then getting it done within the quoted amounts.
I would not go somewhere else and if we were to buy another used car, we would buy from Portland Motor Sales.
At the end of the day, a car shop you trust is so important, and the team at Portland Motor Sales has always come through for us,

Every time I need something repaired on my vehicles, this is where I go. Like the other reviewers have said, John and co. are honest and knowledgable, and of that rare breed that understands the difference between ""making a quick buck and an enemy"" and ""shooting straight and gaining a customer for life""!! The other fella I've dealt with there (Eric is his name) is awesome, too! They can fix them and they can get you the vehicle you want, too!.

I've had really good experiences over the years with these mechanics, John in particular. They've serviced everything from a Toyota to a Saturn to a Kia for me and I've always felt good about the work they do. I haven't felt that way about any other place in Portland, in fact quite the opposite, i always feel like there's something fishy happening but not at Portland Motor Sales. John has gone out of his way to help me, he's even helped me evaluate a used car before i purchased it, all the way down to the paint and body of the car! I highly recommend their services to anyone.

John Gove and his crew are expert mechanics, careful, attentive, and honest.
Portland Motor Sales is not a place for repair bargains, and John will balk if you ask him to hold things together with chewing gum or bailing wire. It's a serious professional place, that insists on doing things right. In the long run, isn't that what we all want?
Lots of integrity! John is a man of his word, and has gone out of his way to keep promises, to resolve conflicts fairly, and to offer extra service to regular customers.
