Thanks for the information. I was called in for a "leadership role" to work with union insurance agencies. I specifically asked if there would be any selling of any kind and I was told "No, you will only train others on how to answer questions for clients that CALL US. We don't cold call or sell anything." Based on the information i am reading, that is a flat out lie! Yes, this should be illegal. In today's economy, everyone is looking for a "legitimate" job and NO ONE has the time to waste with this kind of scam, not to mention gas money!
If you are looking for a steady paycheck, this is not for you. I went in thinking I was being interviewed for "Account Manager" but instead I was put in a room with 6 others and was given a sales pitch on how to be a insurance agent. I don't have anything against insurance agents, but I should have been told that was what I was coming in for. I don't have $200 for a insurance license and I can't make a living based on if I can convince someone to buy life insurance. It was totally misleading.
STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE AN INTERVIEW. You'll get a call from the receptionist about a job for something like a "territory manager" or an "administrative assistant" or "office staff." The email says to be punctual because the interviewer has a tight schedule. When you get there, you'll realize it's not an interview at all. You'll show up, along with 30 other people and everyone is invited to stay and watch a video on this scheme they are trying to get you to be a part of - a no salary insurance sales position. My "interviewer" was in a cotton shirt and flip flops and had never even seen my resume. Her phone went off twice while she was talking to me. It's not a real job opportunity. This kind of scheming should be illegal.
If this company sells insurance the backhanded way they search for employees, then stay away from them! I, along with 10 others were called in for what we thought was an individual interview for office staff/administrative assistant. I realized this was a GROUP interview for insurance sales and asked about it. We all walked out. I went back in and told rep that I was basically lied to in thinking I was going to be intereviewed alone, for what I was told was an administrative assitant. Then I found out they had not even looked at my resume. They just got my name and number along with 10 or 12 other people from internet and called everyone of us for the same reason. Sad, but if this was a reputable company, I feel they would have been upfront and not wasted our time. Deceitful to say the least....they should not have lied to any of us and it makes me wonder what they tell their potential customers! The reason for 1 star - nice office furnishings.
