Cashier, "Your card didn't go through. Do it again."
I punch in my PIN again then notice the register screen showed the first charge did go through.
Cashier, "Call your bank. If I charged you twice just come back and I'll refund it."
Why is it the customer's responsibility to go to the bank to prove that the cashier/manager is charging me twice?
I asked her to balance her drawer to see if it was over. She refuses. Next, 2 other cashiers began degrading me. "Even if you were charged twice, what's the big deal?" "You're wrong. She doesn't make mistakes." "You're wrong. You were not charged twice."
Degradation and humiliation continues. People are staring at me. I finally have to admit, "Charging me twice will OVERDRAW my account." Again, "Go tell your bank..."
Thankfully another employee, Rachael, appeared and asked the cashier to look at the charges.
Validation! I was charged twice!
No one apologized or said out loud that a mistake (theft) occurred.
