Overall
Northville Montessori Center: An Excellent Education

If you're looking for a comparably- and reasonably-priced excellent Montessori education, look no further than Northville Montessori Center.

Director Lynn Gall finished her preschool training in 1975, opened the school in 1976, and completed her elementary training in 1983.

The preschool program excels at acquainting children with 'life work': the basics-- reading, writing, and math through concrete hands-on application; as well as an introduction to the abstract by the teachers individually engaging the children and inviting them to think for themselves.

What is most surprising, however, is how the elementary program continues and expands upon the base given them in their preschool and prepares them for the upper-elementary program where, in this reviewer's opinion, the school has a brilliant gem-of-a-teacher in Keith Gall, Director Lynn Gall's youngest son.

Mr. Keith is an enthusiastic and exemplary teacher who excites the imagination and brings out the brilliance in each child. He embodies and encourages leadership; encourages individuality, commonality, equality, and excellence. He takes the students from the concrete-learning style to the more abstract: preparing his pupils for the transition from his program to middle or high school. His program is exceedingly well-rounded: the students take many field trips, both scientific and cultural throughout the school year. His students learn how to conduct a science experiment and learn how to present it at the school's Science Fair. And presenting their experiments is only their introduction to speech, which Mr. Keith believes is paramount to a student's success. By the time they leave his class, his students have become his extended family and have the tools both social and academic to empower themselves to succeed.

I can't say enough about his program.

The school welcomes visitors, observers, and tours. Simply call and make an appointment. An information packet is also available upon request.
