Best in the West

Best Italian restaurant around. Quality of food matches any fine dining Italian restaurant in San Francisco but with better prices. I highly recommend this spot not only for a romantic night out but also a family night out. I promise there will be no complaints. Enjoy!

UPDATE - NO Longer the BEST Italian in the East Bay

Update: 9/10/10 This restaurant has changed management and menu. I have been there twice now with the new menu and it is simply average now. The new manager bad-mouths the former owner and his style of running his restaurant (overheard him talking to other tables). The food is simply okay. They don't have the signature Amarone wine any longer either. The pasta has been overcooked and chewy and the sauce is very acidic. The risotto is bland. The value for the price is simply not there. They say they're going to expand the menu. I'd wait to go until they do...if ever.

FORMER Amarone Review: This is, without a doubt, the best Italian restaurant in the East Bay area. This is TRULY authentic Italian food - no cookie cutter chain restaurant Italian here. The bolognese sauce is AMAZING, the gnocci wonderous and the risotto - WOW. Even the pizza can't be beat. Even the cheesecake is not what you expect (classing NY style in every other restaurant) - it is light and decidedly Italian. I've been here a few times and have had a few different entrees and found you can't make a bad choice on the menu. Matteo, one of the owners, is friendly and a pleasure to speak with and he's there most every night. It's at the far end of Main Street in Pleasanton near the Rose Hotel (across from the gas station) - well worth it to pass by the other Italian on the street! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
