Can't believe they actually stay in business with the way they operate. From what I was explained by 2 different people is that once you call in to schedule a ride a driver must then chose to pick you up from a list of other people who have scheduled rides so there is no real order in the way they send out their cabs and so there is no guarantee if and when your cab will arrive. I called for a cab and was told the driver would call when he was close and that it was ok to stay inside my location. I watched the cab pull up and instead take 2 other people off the street. I called to complain and the dispatcher saw no problem with this and said it was the drivers choice to pick up who they wanted. At this point I had been waiting over an hour. It took 2 more phone calls and after another hour later a cab finally showed up. I am not from the area otherwise I would have called someone to come get me. This company is ridiculous.
irst and last time I will ever use Yellow Cab Taxi Service. My fiance and I called a taxi up in Coriapolis at the Candlewood Suites to take us to IHOP for breakfast back in September of 2013, and the cab driver had an attitude with us. He said and I quote, "You had me drive all the way over here just to go less than a mile all the way to IHOP". He had a attitude the whole time. Rude is not how customers should be treated. It is better to leave personal problems at the door, not take them to work
We figured he was having a bad day, so we were nice and tipped him still. May I note it was pouring rain that day and cold too. We called Yellow Cab Taxi Service after we had breakfast at IHOP to see if we could get a cab back to Candlewood Suites. A taxi never came. We tried calling back to see why a taxi didn't come, and the receptionist told us we have to schedule to have a taxi on time, because they have other people to attend to too. Isn't is scheduling when you call, and tell them a certain time to pick you up? We ended up being stranded at IHOP for 3 or 4 hours,and it was very cold. Thank god my fiance met a guy who knew of a free shuttle service for people going to work in the Coriapolis and Pittsburgh area, and the driver was nice enough to give us a ride back to the hotel. I really hope no one else had to go through the crap Yellow Cab put us through.
THIS COMPANY DESERVES NO STAR!!!!!!!!! I was scheduled to work at 6am (at my job that is 15min away driving) so I called to have the taxi pick me at 5:15am. It is now 6:43am and I have called three times just to hear that no taxi hasn't been scheduled to me yet!!!! I will never deal with this poor customer service and poor communication -4Star company again!!! DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME!!!!
I had requested a cab three days before departure and I had specifically requested a time that I must be picked up in order to get to my bus on time. When the time came an I didn't see my cab after waiting for a while, I decided to call them and ask why no one was here. Well the answer I got was not satisfactory at all they just told me to wait and I have to be at the bus station in a couple of minutes to catch my bus. If this is how they run the business I can tell you that no one is gonna tip and this business will eventually fail. I hope they plan on paying for my NON-REFUNDABLE ticket if I miss my bus time. This is very unsatisfactory service YELLOW CAB.
I finished work on Mother's Day (Sunday evening) at 10PM. I called Yellow Cab at 10:06. I waited 45 mintues for a response. I called back to find out what the delay was but I got an ebonic response to "go flag one down if I'm that much in a hurry." I called Classy Cab and they picked me up within 10 minutes. I've lived and worked in Seattle, Chicago and Dallas an all of their cab services were reliable. Yellow cab is awful!
Do not depend or call this cab service of you are not at the airport or going to the airport!! They never showed up, even thought I called two hours in advance and keep calling every 30 minutes. This id the last time I will use this cab service I found several others and called and they are local to Carnegie. Yellow Cab should be investigated by the taxi and limousine commission.
i made my first call to book a cab at 02:10 amfor them to pick me up at 02：30am on March 6, 2013 to take me to greyhound terminal. i was to take the 03:30 bus to Grand Rapids. The cab didnt come, i called again and again and again…i missed the bus, and all that woman said was sorry.
Do not depend on this cab service on game day or major events. I called about 2 hours in advance to schedule a pick up for Heinz field, telling them where I was and when I wanted to arrive so they could adjust the pick up depending on traffic. About 20 minutes before my scheduled time a cab showed up as we were waiting (eager to leave), someone else jumped in and the cab took off. We wondered if it was our cab but since we were clearly dressed in Steelers attire and the other person wasn't, I assume the cab driver would have at least asked if that was the right pick up but the driver's window was down, the person was in and off they went without any discussion. Ok - not our cab... no problem, still early.....
Well now it's 20 minutes past our scheduled time and less than an hour to kick off.... getting a little panicked. So I went back into the hotel, they called, were told they would call right back with the ETA and cab number. Funny thing was that the hotel never told them who she was calling about just who she was... several minutes later and no call back. So I called - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER ON THE LINE!! Couldn't find any reservation for me...my name, number, location.... anything.
The hotel called again for me and was told "we're busy we'll get a cab there when we have one, sorry about your luck" and hung up the phone.
I ended up driving to downtown, not knowing if I'd find a parking spot or anything and sure I would miss kick off. Thankfully I found a garage with availability right across the bridge, took the ferry, and was at my seat in time for kick off - with ZERO thanks to Yellow Cab except for saving me money, although causing me a lot of stress. NEVER again - I'll walk before I'll get into a Pittsburgh Yellow Cab - and it's sad because they are the only bad experience I've ever had in that city....wish there was at least one other competitor... if so and they had any amount of customer service Yellow Cab would be closed. Too bad I don't live close enough to start one....

I called for a cab and didn't receive any notifications a half hour later. Then I called back and the lady notified me that with my destination that it would be 9 cars ahead of me. An hour later, my friend called again with a different destination and 20 minutes later, the cab came. Very disappointing.
Okay I am a mom a stay at home mom an my boyfriend takes the car to work an im so disappointed in this company they say 300 cabs lmao were I call them every time I have a appointment there usually 8am for my prenatal care I called once at 4am an w cab never showed til noon!!! Now today April 11 I call at 6 am an ha no cab no manager to speak to an also rude ignorant dispatchers who get your info all wrong, please if you read this FIND A JITNEY DRIVER THEY ARE CHEAPER AN ON TIME WAY NICER TO
They are awful. Awful. Awful. You call, only to be placed on hold forever. Then they say they'll send someone and you ask for an estimate time they simply say to call back in thirty minutes if a cab doesn't show. I have called 8 times and have missed my flight. Thank you I missed my flight and my grandmother died while I wasn't able to say goodbye. Awful service. Only use them if you don't have a heart.

I agree; this cab service is horrible. The cab drivers drink and do drugs while on duty, so be careful when getting into their vehicles! If you want reliable service, call ""Y Wait "" car service at (646) 281-6277. The service is reliable, and you will get to your destination safely!

Avoid this garbage excuse for a taxi ""service"" unless you have exhausted ALL other options. Avoid calling for one in East End neighbourhoods and don't expect any sort of consistency with dispatching. Their drivers, for some bizarre reason, think they have the right to insult people, raise their voice, or get righteous.
This is not NYC. It's not Tokyo. It's Pittsburgh. It's not that stressful people...it's not complicated. Expand your fleet, be more professional, or pack up and f--k off. This way another cab service can come in and provide service in a city in which buses are becoming an increasingly crappy option.

I've lived in Pittsburgh for 7 years and since I do not own a car sometimes I have to take a cab (mostly to the airport). I know a driver who works for Yellow Cab and he and his friends are great. They're always on time sometimes even 15 mins early so I always book my travels (esp. to the airport with these guys). But, when I am in the Pittsburgh (East End) neighborhoods, this company always ruin my day - always late for an appointment, late home, and some of the drivers are pretty scary looking; one time, I had a driver who was neurotic and he really scared the hell out of my friend Jenn and I. Another time, like today, after confirming and re-confirming with the company if they were going to pick me up, they never came. Three hours later, I called a friend to pick me up because I was stranded in East Liberty with my pet (and my pet was nervous and freaked out by all the traffic, sirens and people) and still, the cab never came. About 30 mins before my friend was to come pick us up, I tried calling them out of courtesy - to cancel my trip/schedule - no one answered my call as if, they just unplugged or hit the ""ignore"" button on the switchboard. I had the courtesy and etiquette to call them to let them know that I no longer needed a cab because a friend was coming to pick me up and the audacity of this company to hang up on me!
Yellow cab - you are disgusting, ill-mannered, provide poor service and many of your drivers (and switchboard operators are rude) and too expensive for the quality of service you provide. I hope Pittsburgh will get a better taxicab company in the future and run you to the ground; today this company caused a lot of distress and inconvenience for me and my pet. Thanks for nothing.

OMG! DO NOT, I mean DO NOT use this cab service. I have tried several times. They are TERRIBLE!!! No idea what is going on there. It is thursday at 6:30. We called 2 hours ago! Our reservations are long gone and this is NOT the first time. The only thing I regret is giving them a second chance. Seriously. DO NOT DEAL WITH YELLOW CAB IN PITTSBURGH! Utterly disorganized. Customer service is terrible. Classy Cab all the way! There are other services who do not come up first in searches. Use those. Yellow comes up first and first rhymes with worst...El fin...I will never call them again. I doubt they will care until this really gets around and they are out of business.

First cab came. The driver was surly and complained the whole way from South Side to Troy Hill. After my appointment I called for a cab from Troy Hill to the North Side. The operator said that the cab would come in 20-30min. After 45 min I called to enquire about my cab. The operator responed, "" are you still there?"" Of course I was still there. They had not sent a cab. I was told that a new cab would be requested but that I should call them every 20 min. I called, my phone died, some nice business let me plug in. After 2+ hours I asked what was happening. The operator said that the drivers are independent contractors and do not have to respond to my request. I asked if the operator had any other company that I could call. She gave men another number, Classy Cabs. I called. They said no cab for 1 1/2 hr. but that as a professional curtesy they do not send cabs to fares who have previously called another company. I called Yellow back. My request was still active there but no cabs were taking it. After 3 hrs.of sitting on a cold stoop, I am old and this was no small feat, I asked a total stranger who had a car full of kids if she would take me home and I could pay her. She did and I did. I called Yellow and canceled. I would still be sitting on the stoop if I had continued to wait for Yellow Cab,
