The Best Men/Women Hair Salon In Pittsburgh

I have been going to this hair salon for cuts for 20 years (through several styles and lengths of hair) and I have always been completely satisfied with the cut,, the service and the people that I dealt with in the salon.

The owner cuts hair along with everyone else there so he is always available if you have any questions or problems and his staff knows that he is aware of the customer flow and that he is there to help THEM solve problems if they ever come up.

In those 20 years, they have had a number of award winning stylists working for them and yet the prices have always been more than competitive with the places that serve you an espresso and treat you like someone who isn't as hip as they are and thus need some other kind of cut than the one you went in for.

I read the other reviews and I was totally surprised that there were several one-stars. These are either people who didn't speak up to the owner or who are just grouchy, because I know he is the sort that always makes things right for the customer even if it means doing job over to their satisfaction. The one woman who ordered something on the Internet and says she got double charged and no one responded to her complaint has no credibility in my opinion. Either she is cyber illiterate or she is just venting. Again, as in other cases, this owner is always in touch with his cutters and his customers and would never let someone be dissatisfied much less double charged.

This place is a bargain and you won't be disappointed.

Great Service, Fair Prices

I've been going to Lewis Hair Salon for the last five years. I'm extremely particular about my hair and for the first year, would only let my stylist trim. Finally trusting her, I told her to do what she wanted and took suggestions on what she thought would work best. Over the years, I've gotten numerous compliments on how great my hair looks and how amazing my color is. If you change styles and color as much as I do, this is the place for you. They use high quality products and the stylists are highly trained. Additionally, their prices are very reasonable, especially on salon products!!

As for the staff, they're all very friendly and great you when you walk in the door. They have many longtime employees I've gotten to know over the years. I normally go every six weeks but have had to cancel once or twice and the stylist was willing to stay a bit later to fit me in. They really get to know their customers and provide great service in a refreshingly relaxed environment given its location. If you're not getting your hair done here, you need to start.

Awesome Guy Cuts

I'm a guy ,23, in college and needed a new look. I was passing by Lewis in Shady Side and thought I would check it out. I was told that a stylist would be free in about 15 minutes if I didn't mind waiting. The staff was very friendly so I waited. She asked me if I was happy with my prior cuts...she suggested she could change it up a bit . Well, let me tell you what a change. I look like a new person! Thanks .....I'll see you in 3 weeks

I am very proud to be a Lewis Hair Salon customer for over 15 years. Bob and his staff offer great services at very reasonable prices all in the heart of Shadyside.
My stylist Sean does a great job with my cut and color. I always get compliments. Lewis also features the hair and nail product selection in town.

Lewis Hair Salon is one of the best kept secrets in Pittsburgh. Their staff is extremely knowledgable about hair cutting. Their product selection with hair products and nail products is one of the best in Pittsburgh.

All of their pricing is very reasonable and their services are first rate. They are open 7 days a week so if the only time you can get your hair cut is Sunday, your covered!!!!

I have been going to Lewis's Hair for over ten years.. They are awesome!!!!

worst cut ever

I was really disappointed. I brought a picture to give a general idea of what I wanted; I don't expect to look exactly like the picture. The blond girl told me it was too layered and she didn't want to do it even though it's the same picture I always take and other stylists (better ones I guess) are able to do it. Anyway when she finished it was totally uneven. When I pointed it out to her she said she was following the last cut. Huh? Lame excuse. I can't seem to make any sense of this haircut. Every time I style it I see more and more how uneven it is. What was she doing???? So I guess there's no real remedy for a bad haircut except to let it grow out. I'm just really upset I spent $45.00 on this horrible cut

Very rude and unfriendly service to say the least

Being a frequent shopper on Walnut street I walked into the store today with a friend who intended to buy some hair care items. Two workers were in attendance a receptionist who greeted us and another worker who seems to know more about what items the store carries. Unfortunately, he was not very inclined to answer our query; he had an attitude as if to say ""get out of my store."" I took the trouble to inquire from other stores down the street and was told that this is not the usual behavior. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that this incident was due to the fact that we were from an ethnic minority.

Don't bother ordering online

I ordered some hair care products through Lewis Hair Salon's online site. The products arrived in a timely manor and were well packaged. The problem is that I have been charged twice for my order and I cannot get anyone from their salon to help me. All email correspondence goes unanswered on their part.

terrible customer service, not worth money

First off, the hair dresser was 1/2 hour late for my appointment. She never apologized or said that she is running behind and she would be with me shortly. She did not follow directions on how I would like my hair done. There were bands all through out my hair, the roots were orange and the ends were blond. She cut my hair, and it looked nothing like the picture. They did fix it, I had to sit there for hours. My night was shot due to me sitting in a hair salon the whole time. They were very short with me, which is bad customer service. For the money I spent the aggravation was not worth it.
