The apartments are well maintained and in a very safe complex. The staff does a great job of handling any questions promptly and going out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and satisfied. Never had or even heard of any complaints about their apartments or staff. This is by far the best realty company I've ever dealt with.
Sorry to read the other reviews. I've been renting with this reality company for a year now. Never any issues, when I have an issue they're sending someone out the same day if not the next. Very pleasant and understanding. Plumbing issue right now and Tom has been calling me to make sure it's being rectified. I haven't had to call and call he was there the very next day addressing the issue. Will continue to rent from them. :)
Rented in ridgeville st. Wont fix any maintenance issues. THey said you can deal with it. Didn't return the whole deposit back even if the house was returned back in good condition. Charged me for pevious tenant leaving stuff in backyard. WHen called to get money back, they said we charged you for less than what we could have. Don't do it.
I rented a townhouse with JCR Kelly for almost 3 years on Ridgeville St in Sq Hill. For the most part, the property was fine. This review is solely directed to the company and the bag of tools that work there.
They are rude, dishonest, cheap, and condescending. Do not make the same mistake I did. Do not rent from them. Find a private landlord somewhere else. There are plenty of apartments in Pittsburgh. Do not put yourself through the hassle of dealing with this company.

This was the worst apartment that I have ever lived in. From the floor boards that are falling through (which were not fixed after a year), to the flood in our kitchen from a burst pipe (that was taken care of by my grandpa cause they were busy) to the heater that makes banging noises (took the landlord 5 months of constant calling to fix), to the fridge that is super noisy, to the basement door which is basically held together with wood, these are the worst people to rent from.

While attending the University of Pittsburgh, 3 girls and myself rented a 4 bedroom apartment from John CR Kelly in Oakland. It started out to be a great place and then we had no heat.. and they did no care.... then we had no hot water.. they still did not care. They would send a maintenance person over that was over 100 years old who could not get up the stairs and said that he had fixed it. We had to report it to the health departement and they finally ( in the spring.. after we no longer needed the heat) put in electric heaters along the walls and we did get an air conditioner out it as well.. so that was nice but then we had to pay for the heat and air which the lease said was included.... I said I would never rent from them again.
Then my fiance and I needed a place to stay closer to both of our jobs and we rented in Avalon in Chestnut Manor.. it was ok.. the price was right.. one bedroom with a small kitchen.. we were in the basement and had mold all of the time.. had to purchase a dehumidifier just to be able to get by yet there was still mold everywhere..I guess that is what you get for living in the basement.. but the landlord was great... she was very understanding and always got back to you.. HUGE change from when I lived in their apartment in Oakland.
2 years ago we moved into Bellwood Manor.. LOVELY! We have a wonderful two bedroom apartment... amazing space... nice sized rooms, dining room.. Love it! Same landlord but this is defintily the best we have had yet!
So it depends on the location of their property.. if you're in a college area, they do not care... they do not want to put money into a building when the kids are just going to trash it anyway.. but still.
We love Bellwood and Jeanie, the landlord is awesome!

I left Bellwood Apt. in Aug. Because some mistake my bank still send the $960 monthly rent to John CR Kelly realty Inc. I called the company couple times told them about this and let the company do not withdraw the check. After a month the company cashed my check and refused to return the check to me. When I called them, the lady who 's name is Marian was very mean and told me I owned her money. After I left the apt., I did not get my $500 deposit back. Now she even said I own her money. I asked her to tell me the reason why I own her money. She said I won't tell you. I email you. I think it's because she got my $960 in her hand, then she thinks a lot of reasons for not returning my money. I have to give one star to post this review. Otherwise I will give zero star for the horrible company. What a horrible place! Stay away form this realty company if you want your deposit back .
add:I got the letter wrote on Sep 23 from this company, the company charge me $275 cleaning fee and $800 for the new carpet replacemen(total cost was $1,500). I have been lived in this apartment for about 5 years. The most cost of carpet should be depreciated. But the company charged me more than half of the price of new carpet.
The letter wrote on Sep 23, I think because my bank sent my second check to the company, the company wanted to cash my check and needed some reason to keep my money.Otherwise they should have done the letter earlier.
Now the company keep my $500 deposit and hold my $960 that my bank sent by mistake.
I filed complain with BBB and the company still keep my money and not willing return it to me. I will keep update the situation.
update: I wrote $700 deposit before, because I got this number form a statement from this company. But the company another letter point my deposit is $500.Because I don't remember how much it was. Now I changed my deposit number to $500.
