Terrible Service Mediocre Cooking

We used to patronize Jimmy Wans in Fox Chapel in spite it being very expensive compared to other Chinese restaurants. We live nearby and we felt that white tablecloth and all we don’t mind paying extra even though their cooking was never particularly good, but it was OK.

Well, last Friday’s Dinner (March 6, 2015) was a complete fiasco. Our waiter approached the table and told us that he is very busy. He kept pushing us to choose something quickly even though we didn’t take more than two minutes to place an order. My attempts to calm him down and focus him on our needs only resulted in him avoiding us from that point on. Our order was provided by various people. Someone dumped the tea (black instead of green). Someone, while flying by, placed two plates with our order and vanished instantly. The Mongolian Beef was cold. After a while I was able to intercept someone (a busboy, I think) and complain that the dish is cold. He picked it up and reappeared with it shortly. It was just as cold.

I paid $73 for two appetizers and two main course dishes. This is about 3 times more than a normal Chinese restaurant would charge and it was perhaps the worst service we have ever experienced in any restaurant.

We will never go there again.

OVER PRICED AND MASS PRODUCED

We had a bad experience at Jimmy Wan's restaurant at Freeport Rd. It was like eating at a fast food restaurant. They took our order and immediately brought the food to the table before we got our drinks. It was a 15 minute meal. We complained to the owners. They were not concerned and never apologized for the bad service. The food here is MASS PRODUCED. The food is already prepared; that is why they bring it right away to the table. It is also overpriced. We won't go back.
