General Info
Fitness Factory is an independently owned local gym located in Pittsburghs affluent Shadyside neighborhod. We have been in business for over 18 years focusing on strength, cardio and wellness. We do not sell contracts, but instead offer flexible and catered memberships, with over an 80% usage rate. We take pride in setting ourselves apart from the big box clubs by putting our members first. We are not for everyone, but everybody is always welcome. We hold our members to a standard of respect and consideration for one another, like putting their weights away to wiping down machines when they are finished on a piece of equipment. We are an anomaly of sorts, but hopefully will always be a desired commodity, in this world of anything goes. We promise to help you not only nourish your flesh, but nourish your soul! Cleanest gym

I have worked in Public Health for a long time. So when my last gym closed, ""CLEAN"" was at the top of my list. This gym is very clean. Everyone is helpful. There are multiples of cardio & weight machines. No waiting. I actually look forward to my workout. The owners (Fran & Michael) are great.

Friendly Neighborhood Gym

I am a student at Duquesne and live in the Shadyside area, I joined fitness factory initially for its ideal location, but absolutely love everything about it. The staff is so friendly and easily approachable in terms of learning equipment and gaining a better workout experience. (I am a girl and hate the gym, these ppl made me really enjoy it!). And, to top it off, they recently added a 24/7 access card so I can go to the gym after night classes and before I go out on Friday nights :) Great gym all around!! Oh - and awesome, affordable trainers for girls out there like me who need a boost!

Great gym

Convenient location, it's never hard to get a machine, friendly atmosphere, courteous professional staff. The locker rooms are very basic and small, but the other benefits of this gym outweigh this tiny downfall.

Great, Great, gym!

I think the Fitness Factory is great! It's a neighborhood gym in Shadyside where I live, so it's perfect just to walk down the street to workout. I totally don't feel like getting in my car after work and driving somewhere to workout so this works for me. The gym has plenty of cardio and strength equipment. I'm not into classes or swimming, just getting a good workout, so this gym is great for me. Everyone is friendly too, and there is a mix of people, so I have never felt intimidated. Also, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, a rarity in this day and age of big box stores. Joe behind the counter, still remembers my name, after almost a year of being a member. I have recommended this gym to several of my friends and will continue to do so.

GREAT GYM!!!!

Reviews below are clearly outdated. I've been a member for a year and after shopping around all the gyms in the area. The Fitness Factory is FANTASTIC! . It has a wonderful neighborhood feel. The owners and staff are friendly, positive, and professional. They are clearly committed to safety and health. The gym is bright, very clean, and upbeat. The equipment has recently been updated with lots of new machines and plenty of cardio. The gym attracts members of all ages, ranging from the college student to the senior. It's inspiring to see the variety and everyone is so friendly. Individualized personal training is available with knowledgeable and professional trainers. Finding the Fitness Factory and training with co-owner and trainer Fran Mammarelli has made a huge difference in my life.

Plenty of cardio!

I don't know the last time some of these people went to Fitness Factory, but this one in Shadyside has a TON of cardio equiptment. I've been searching the area for a gym, and I've actually chosen this one because of the variety of machines that it has for aerobic activity.

The owner was very nice to me, and gave me a tour of the place. He also thanked me and talked to me right as I was leaving.

The gym is large, and although some machines are crammed pretty close together, there are lots to choose from, and I feel that no matter when I got there, I could always find something to work out on.

Did Not Visit The Gym But Talked To the Owner, Very Good Person

Never been there but I talked to the owner; he is an outstanding and straight forward person. We need more people in this world like that. I would join his gym and support what ever else he was doing just on that. I would disregard the bad reviews and go take a look for your self.

Do not join this gym!

I was very disappointed in this gym. It is dark with very little natural light, low ceilings and signs printed from a home computer hanging everywhere. There is limited equipment, due to the limited space. The hours are extremely inconvienent...closing early on the weekends! Lastly and most disappointing was the management, extremely unprofessional. I don't think you could pay me to spend my time working out at this gym. Luckily, there are many other gyms in the area.
