I just moved to Pittsburgh and was in desperate need of a new hair salon. My hair is naturally a light ash brown and I've kept it a dark, dark brown (almost black) for the last two years, so my goal was to take it back closer to my natural color.
Knowing this would be no easy task (since it would involve stripping the dark color out and approximating my natural color), I Googled tons of different places before finally settling on Daquila. The overwhelmingly positive reviews blew me away and led me to their doors a few weeks ago.
Not only did Heather successfully pull the black pigment from my hair, she colored it a beautiful warm caramel brown with natural blonde highlights that has consistently garnered compliments, even though its only been a few weeks since I dropped by. I was worried about possible damage due to the chemicals used during the color stripping, but Heather deep conditioned my hair and trimmed the ends so that the end result (haha, no pun intended) was not only healthy-looking and shiny, but also a perfect fit for my face structure and build.
Heidi, another stylist, was also in the salon that day, and both were extremely friendly and accomodating, even willing to grab me a slice of pizza from the place next door while my color developed! The salon is in a fun and trendy area and makes use of lots of natural light beaming through a multitude of windows. Apparently the place used to be a day spa, and you can definitely tell! The environment is relaxing, welcoming and cozy and the stylists are friendly and the complete opposite of pretentious.
As a graduate student, I was a little worried about the cost for a full day of corrective coloring and deep conditioning, but the total was far less than I expected. I received a 25% new client discount and was informed that next time I visit, I'll receive a 10% student discount. For the location and immaculate service, I really expected to empty my wallet, but the reality was that the prices were actually much less than I would have paid for similar services where I moved from (Alaska).
Daquila Hair Color Studio is amazing and I will definitely be becoming a regular! High recommended to anyone that is looking for fantastic attitudes and service coupled with years of experience and expertise.

What a refreshing experience! After a couple of terrible recent experiences at other salons, I was beginning to lose hope that I would ever get a decent haircut/color ever again. I saw several positive reviews online for Daquila and figured I'd give it a try. So very thrilled that I did! I was scheduled with the owner Deborah for a cut and color. She is wonderful! So nice and really listened to my concerns. Also, very knowledgable and yet so easy to talk to. She spent a good amount of time on the consult so she could get a good idea of what I really wanted. What a change from some other salons. She worked her magic and both fixed my color issue and previous bad haircut. I was amazed at the result! My hair looked fabulous and she made it such a positive and relaxing experience. The salon is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. What a relief not having to deal with pretentiousness that permeates so many of the salons in the city. I can't wait to go back! I have found a new home for my hair.

Please do yourself a favor and check Deborah and her studio out!
I have been struggling with curly frizzy hair for years and have always struggled growing it out long. After getting the Brazilian keratin treatment, my hair is silky smooth and much easier to style than before. I am looking forward to growing it out for once. If interested in a cut, Deborah is a true artist. She will give you the perfect cut for your face and fascinate you with her high fashion expertise. Thank you for a great experience Daquila!

I have been highlighting my hair for almost 15yrs and just now have I found a salon I know I can fully trust to have me smiling every time I leave an appt.. My first experience with Daquila and Bayalage began a year ago, after moving to the area from DC and trying a few not so great hair studios. Since then, Daquila has been my go to and has yet to give me a reason to look elsewhere. I truly would recommend them to any friend or family member (which I have).
I see Deborah for my highlights and cuts. She does an amazing job and always sends me out feeling beautiful - so much so I purposely schedule my appointments to coincide with a night out. She is very personable, really listens to what you, the client, wants, and provides great advice if asked for. Definitely the best in Pittsburgh for Color and Cuts!

I came to Daquila on the recommendation of a friend who knew that I rarely pay much attention to my hair at all and even less to coloring, especially since I was not very satisfied with my stylist but wasn't really willing to waste time shopping around. But my experience at Daquila was just right for me. No fuss getting the appointment, great service and real communication between the staff and customers. Wonderful color and fabulous cut every time. BEST in the 'Burgh.

If you want gorgeous highlights, then Daquila Studio is the place to go! On my first visit, Deborah knew exactly what I wanted and my hair came out even better than I expected. Deborah is a master of natural, flattering color. You can't go wrong with Heather, either. She gives great cuts that are easy to maintain. Everyone at the salon is extremely friendly and you will feel totally at ease and comfortable!
I chose Daquila because of the great reviews on citysearch and I'm so glad I did! Deborah is a brilliant colorist and her balayage technique gives me wonderful color with natural dimension. I've found appointments easy to make and the salon is very pleasant with lots of good restaurants nearby. The natural light in the studio is a real plus. The prices are reasonable and there are always coupons for a little extra incentive. A good find!
LITERALLY, best color in the world - I currently live in London and I actually fly back home to Pittsburgh to have my hair done by Deborah (it's that good and it lasts that long, I only have to get it done every 4-5 months). I've had highlights done in Europe and all over the US (including NYC)
After my long-term boyfriend broke up with me, I knew a trip to Daquila for a new hair cut and color was in order! I started out a dirty blondish-brown, and I wanted a color change that was noticeable, but still natural. And Daquila Hair Color Studio delivered! My golden blonde color now is the perfect hue for my skin tone, and I have received countless compliments about it. Their stylists really do an excellent job with the balayage technique...and everyone was friendly and fun! The salon has a really relaxing, chill atmosphere, too. I will definitely be returning for my color touch up!
East Liberty is an up-and-coming community with lots of cool places to check out. Before or after your hair cut, check out Conflict Kitchen (a little take-out place that serves food from countries that the US is in conflict with) or some of the great stores at the Village of East Side!

I've been to Daquila a few times now and cannot say enough good things. Danielle worked wonders with my color, turning my streaky highlights into a natural looking, soft blonde. She worked magic with the scissors, blending my previously choppy layers into a cut that not only laid perfectly but was easy to style myself. The salon is always clean and welcoming and I have never been kept waiting for my appointment.

I've been getting my hair cut at Daquila for just over a year by Rachel and I was so sad to hear that she had recently relocated and left the salon. My experience there was always fabulous - Rachel always listened to what I had to say but was not afraid to tell me what she thought would work best for my hair. The space is wonderful - open, airy and extremely relaxing. I almost fall asleep during the wonderful shampoos! My next appointment is with Deborah, the owner of the salon. I've seen her fabulous work while I've been there and am looking forward to my first haircut with her!

Recently moved here from Las Vegas and went through about 6 different stylists from various places trying to find someone who could compare to my wonderful girl back in Nevada. Tried this salon on a recommendation and I'm happy to say I won't be going any place else! Thanks Heather!
I've never had great luck with hair stylists--candidly, it was greatly due to the fact that I wasn't born with great hair. Deborah Daquila has somehow managed to find a cut for me that's stylish and works well with my fine, wispy hair. And what a colorist she is!! My hair is in the best shape it's ever been in, and the color is fantastic. I am convinced that she is the best technician in the 'Burgh!!
I am living in Pittsburgh for the next several months and needed to find a stylist. After online researching and reading the rave reviews, I made an appointment at Daquila. I was not disappointed! They met all my expectations and more. The shop is calm and welcoming with a very professional, happy staff. They offer their clients tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
I had a thorough consultation before Deborah cut (styled), colored and highlighted my fine, straight hair. My hair has never looked so good! The color and highlights are very natural looking, and the cut is perfect for my lifestyle and face shape. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new haircut and color/highlights and have received numerous compliments! Deborah is an extremely conscientious stylist and colorist!

I recently moved to Pittsburgh and needed to find a stylist. I used Angie's List to find Daquila.
Deborah is wonderful. Her technique of highlighting is something I've never experienced before. She does not use foil and the look is more natural. I have recieved more compliments on my hair color since going to Deborah.
I am very happy with my hair cut and style. I don't like to spend time on my hair in the morning and the cut is extremely easy to style and maintain.
The atmosphere is very comfortable and the wi-fi is a plus. I wouldn't go any where else.
