I see two concrete buildings with no windows that I was not allowed in and no dogs outside. There was one person working there but she was in the house. I got my dog back in rough shape. Bottom line. Their prices are good for a reason. My furry friend will not be returning...
This is a great kennel! My two German Shepherd's are always well taken care of during their stay. My husband and I travel at short notice and the kennel always is welcoming and accommodating of our schedules. Our dogs are our children and the "boys" are excited and happy to visit and seem just as excited and happy to see us when we pick them up. This is a family owned and operated business and they all pitch in! Great, affordable, safe location for your pet!
This place used to be nice. They switched owners this past summer and now it's awful. I live across the valley and we hear the dogs barking in the outdoor area until 9:00 at night when it's very cold. They throw the dog poop over the hill and they have a little kid working with all those dogs. I know this because I walk my dog on that street often and on the back trails. If I were their neighbors I would be flipping out because come the spring it's going to stink from the months of poop flinging. I really feel bad for any dog that goes there.
Also, there has to be some kind of rule against their young son working with unfamiliar dogs by himself.
I have used this kennel for years. When I brought my furry friend I was surprised to see new owners. I was sceptical to leave my dog with people I didn't know. After meeting the new owner she seemed very nice and polite. I did end up leaving my pooch.
On pick up day I was eagerly awaiting the happy wags that my dog usually expressed in the past. Much to my surprise she was lethargic and a bit stressed. After some rest at home she was still down. I took her to the vet only to realize she was a bit dehydrated and had a slight rash on her belly. The vet thinks the rash was more heat related. I come to find out the kennels no longer have air conditioning!!! My neighbors had a similar reaction upon the return of their dog from the kennels too!
Perhaps they should invest in their business and cool the place down. I had to invest in a large vet bill due to their lack of care.
I am sorry to hear that you were displeased with our service. Just so you are aware our kennels have never had AC, even under the previous owners despite what they may have said. We are constantly monitoring the temperature in the kennels and making sure that all of our animals have full water bowls. Our kennels are also partially underground like a basement and have large cooling fans for ventilation. Because the animals have access to the outside if they are constantly outside or running up and down the runs with the other dogs it is possible for them to dehydrate as we cannot force them to drink the water we provide. I am sorry to hear that your pet was dehydrated upon returning home. We do strive to give our guests the best care possible and I wish you would have called us to talk about the situation having had proof of the vet's assessment we would have been happy to assist in the cost of the services.
Our two dogs were attacked by another dog at this kennel this summer. My 20 lb. terrier was KILLED and my pointer suffered major physical trauma needing massive stitching, drainage tubes, etc. We were told by the owner that the other dog, a pit bull, broke out of his kennel and into our dogs', but that a worker had been right there and gotten to them within 2 minutes. We don't believe this. How could a dog break out of his kennel and into another one and do that much damage in such a short amount of time all under the watchful eye of a kennel worker? Answer: it couldn't. We believe the aggressive dog's kennel was left open. Either way, the kennel was neglectful and our 13 yr old dog was killed. Find another kennel if you care at all about your pets and save yourself from the devastating heartache we experienced.
Our condolences for the loss of your pet. This is a tragic incident that took place under the previous owner's care. Crafton Kennels is now under new ownership and management as of June 2012. It is our goal to have a safe and healthy environment for our furry guests throughout their stay.
