Pleasure at Poros, Market Square, Pittsburgh for a gathering pre-trip: Insane eggplant chips with tzatziki, grilled veggies, smoked salmon, wowser grilled octopus, hummus & baba ganoush & bonus splash of Mastiha from the inimitable Cary!
I heard about this restaurant on the Marti Griffin show. I immediately wanted to support a family owned business that was doing so well. I bought my in-laws a gift certificate to dine there. So, when my dad said that he needed to treat my mom to a nice romantic birthday dinner, I immediately recommended this restaurant. I made the reservations and called to confirm. I purchased a bottle of champagne and their infamous volcano dessert. I was so happy, and my dad was delighted. I received a call from the owner (5 hours before the reservation), and was told that they would be closing early due to some cancellations. He reported that it would not be worth sticking around..."sorry." I know that it would "suck" to "stick around," but it seems that a business should honor their hours. There is no hurricane, flood, family emergency and/or anything that warrants an early closing. They were aware that this was a special occasion, but still decided to shut down. I am so disappointed-never again.
Fresh and delicious Mediterranean food! Great atmosphere. Wonderful service - catered to the customers' needs. Absolutely recommend this place!
The food at Marisquiera in Aspinwall, PA is absolutely delicious! We started with stuffed green peppers and sauteed garlic shrimp. The entree of Mahi Mahi was just as delicious, ending with creme brulee (while the chocolate mousse was very tempting). The table next to us had some kind of kabob that I'll be ordering next time! The service was very courteous, prompt, and friendly, and the decor was classy and very comfortable. Plenty of parking. We'll be back - soon!
