My experience for salt water fish tanks and maintenance was minimal to say the least. I found Tropical Treasures to be the one stop shop for all my questions to be answered and quality products to be bought at reasonable pricing. Forget the "big" stores because when dealing with salt water tanks Tropical Treasures is there for all your needs.
Very knowledgable owner. Great prices on salt water fish....way better than Petsmart, who get the fish in the morning, and sell them to you that afternoon. If you know salt water fish, they have to get acclimated .....two environments in that same day is a recipe for disaster. Might not be the most spacious store, but for a local , non-chain shop, they have everything in a small area. If they don't have it, they will order it and usually get it in a day.
I will not go anywhere else for my fish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!
I've been here several times, each time there are numerous dead fish, and not very big selection of fish. This last time I went in specifically for a replacement light tube for my hood. They only had one in the size I needed, for a much higher price than I had expected, but I purchased it anyway. When I got home the tube had been previously used and burnt out. Seeing the condition of the store and the guest service I won't even go back to return it. I found a better tube at PetSmart for $5.00 cheaper and it works perfect.
I normally try to shop and local stores instead of chains to help local economy, but this is one store I will never frequent again.
The store has an excellent and knowledgeable staff they also have a great selection of saltwater and freshwater fish as well as everything that you would need to set up an aquarium for fish if you have not been there I would strongly recommend that you check out this awesome store
this place has horrible employes well at least the guy i dealt with i try and ask him a question and he would give me a short answer and then when i asked for a fish he told me it was to expensive for me and then he told my little 11 year old special needs brother to stop messing with the flash light or hes going to have to pay for it and also my mom called them and asked to speak to manger and the guy goes u don't need to f****** talk to him and hung up i swear to god that old f****** man is a complete a** hole tanks are over stocked as well fish fins are all torn up as well never shopping here again
Do not ever go to this place to buy a pet! The store is disgusting and I don't know how they are still in business. I Told them I had a fresh water tank and I asked for a fish and sold it to me. It turned out to be saltwater with hardly any information on the tag and died minutes later. They told me it was my fault and I needed to take responsibility for my actions. Don't even get me started on the conditions of the tanks all the animals were in. Bleh I am never going to return there again.

Make sure the pet store you go to is educated on the items or live stock they sell. My wife & I were very happy to find Tropical Treasures, because the store is so close to our home. We have bought numerous livestock, pumps, etc from here. I recently bought 3 tiger cowries(babies) for my wifes reef tank. I have read they eat condi ane...mone, yet no other types.
When my wife saw one of the cowries by her maximini carpet anemone, she asked me to call Tropical Treasures and see if the anemone was safe. The gent working said if anything it would hurt the cowrie, yet he had never heard of a cowrie hurting one, so it should be quite safe.
I figured these gents working there were educated in the livestock they sell. I woke up this morning to a quarter of the anemone left. The cowrie ate it. It really bummed me out, and my wife even more. When I took my friend in for a pinky, for his snake I figured I'd tell the gent working, I was curious to how they'd react.
The gent behind the counter pretty much giggled it off then said, ""Well, maybe it'll grow back"". Right. Not, ""Wow, I'm really sorry, i'll make sure our employees are educated on our livestock better next time. To show you how sorry I am let me give you a small discount on your next purchase."" I am the type to spend a lot of money in their store, yet not after this incident, I'll never go there again.
To make things worse, When I bought the cowries and such, I spent around $60.00 that day. The same gent who giggled this off rang me up $30.00 less then I owed and being honest I made sure to point this out, so I would be charged the correct amount. Yes, the store has nice item to purchase yet not really educated or seem to care about the livestock they sell. I am telling all in my neighborhood about this incident. If you're going to take a chance on what you buy, you might as well be going to petco. Same lack of education on their livestock, yet cheaper prices.
