This is the most wonderful Italian restaurant you can find in the area. We have been coming here for six or seven years when we are in town, and if you haven't tried it you should. Do make a reservation. Everything we have ever ordered has been delicious - we always start with the stuffed mushrooms, and my husband generally orders one of the veal dishes. If osobucco (spelling?) veal shank is on the menu the night you go, it is incredible.Another favorite of mine is the chicken parmigiana. Did I mention the place is charming and the service impeccable?

I don't tell just anybody about Michelina's, this place is the best kept cuisine secret in the valley! Everybody who has tried it agrees with me, it's the best Italian food around.
The first time you go keep a very sharp eye out lest you pass it. They are located in a iffy looking strip mall where the neighbors are a pawn shop and a bail bonds place. It's immediately on the south side of Shea about 100 feet west of the 51 on ramp. The front isn't much to look at, but once you walk through the door it is a completely different experience. The first thing you will notice is the intimate ambiance and huge arrangements of fresh flowers throughout.
Michelina herself opened it about 15 years ago and on a Friday or Saturday night she can still be found in the kitchen stirring something delectable. If you get lucky she might even escape from the kitchen for a minute to ask you personally how the food was.
If you like fish Michelina's market fresh fish is always fantastic, if slightly pricey ($20-35). My favorite dish is still the chicken fettuccine alfredo. It's always perfect from the seasoned grilled chicken, to the rich alfredo, to the home made pasta.
The deserts are amazing, and always freshly made. She makes something that I can never remember the name of that has fresh strawberries topped with a light whipped cream and rum concoction that you have to try.
The service is prompt and unobtrusive. There are 3 bad tables by the kitchen that they will give you if you call and demand a reservation that night, so make sure to call ahead a few days.

You have to look QUICKLY to spot the restaurant in the mini mall. Lovely atmosphere (large flower arrangements a very nice touch). Apps (stuffed mushrooms were soft and flavorful) possibly a bit pricey, but main dishes (bracciole and cioppina) were excellently prepared and more than generous proportions. I'd suggest splitting the cioppino and I'm a big eater. Excellent, attentive service, eager to make adjustments. Good value overall.

After many disappointing meals, I can't believe Ive found the best kept secret in Phoenix right in my own backyard. I finally made it to Michelinas for dinner and was impressed beyond words.
The service was impeccable from start to finish. Whether from our server or those helping, everyone was attentive without being intrusive.
The food is to write home about. It was an experience within itself. Finally a Pink Sauce that isnt watered down tomato soup. The Sauce over the Veal Saltimbocca reminded me of home in the NE (NYC area), not to forget the Veal was so tender I cut it with my fork. They also accomodated some special requests (though I'm sure this would depend on how busy the kitchen was at the time).
Definitely a place to remember and repeat for an enjoyable and well rounded dining experience.

Located in a small strip mall, this small restaurant is more like going home to your italian momma. Michelina does all the cooking. And what a cook. She specializes in fish and seafood dishes, but her Oso Bucu melts in your mouth. The pasta is fresh, the sauces mild and tasty.
Try the Osters Michelina as an appetizer. Even if you don't like Osters, you will like this dish. You will find yourself sopping up the sauce with your bread.
The wine list is extensive, but try one of the Cianti's with your meal.
This is a special place. We think of it as our home restaurant and Michelina as our italian momma.
