I recently got my first tattoo and after reading reviews and looking at portfolios I decided on Meg at Love and Hate Tattoo on McDowell rd in Phoenix. Her "tradional american" style and clean lines were exactly what i was looking for and after our consultation appointment I was excited to see what she would do with my ideas. Let me just say it was hands down a hundred times better than what I had originally thought it would be! Meg took my idea and amplified it into a beautiful work of art that I am proud to wear on my body for the rest of my life!! The shop is clean and has vintage "old school" vibe... Theres endless artwork and flash everywhere you look. The staff were great as well and made me feel welcomed, comfortable and at ease (being my first tattoo, I was a little nervous.. At first!! But quickly felt completely comfortable). Meg did an amazing job and I get compliments on my tattoo everywhere I go! I will definatly be going back for my next tattoo.Basically, my tattoo, artist, shop and the entire staff were really great and I recommend all my friends that want to get tattooed to go to Love and Hate! Thanks again Meg!

Let me tell you about my first trip to Phoenix, I have been looking for quite some time for the perfect situation in which all things come together for the perfect Tattoo. Well run don't walk and visit Meg and Tony Klett at ""Love and Hate Tattoo;s on Mcdowell st in Phoenix Arizona. This group of ARTIST have really strived for and reached the level of proffesionalism most have only wished for, Meg has done a great job with the place and without a doubt having reeled in Tony Klett was a great move. Tony is as calm as the the weather and the scenery outside is only challenged by the art that he creates inside, My piece was traditional and absolutely stunning, He made me feel like you should feel when making a decision as big as this one is. The art you put on yourself should be something that you really really enjoy and the piece I have now is truly a piece of art. Go see Tony, Sorry gotta run, time for my next appointment with Mr Klett. Thank's Meg great job!!!!

Well, I can honestly say I am nothing short of thrilled with the job Danny did at Love Hate. I had a rather large poorly done tattoo done about 12 years ago. I wanted to cover it up with a sleeve but was very concerned with the size of my existing tattoo whether or not it would be possible and still look good. Wow, it is now about half way through and I still can not believe how well it was hidden in all the new work! What an artist! Thanks again, can not wait to finish this piece! Worth your time to check them out... glad I did and will continue to have him work on some new ideas for other tatt's.

The entire staff at Love and Hate are very professional. Every artist is very talented. I had my work done by Tony Klett. Not only is he artistic and creative, but he makes you feel comfortable with the design and process. His aftercare advice is the best I've ever had!! It's the only way I heal my tattoos now. Definitely go to this shop for any tattoo or piercing!
I loved Love and Hate tattoo! Vince was great! He was friendly, funny and does excellent work! He took my idea and made it better than what I thought! Needless to say, my tattoo is beautiful and I get a lot of compliments. My one complaint is the woman who works there is a little crazy and had sum drama at the work place... not cool but other than that, great expierence!
i was referred to MEG at LOVE & HATE tattoo by friends... after i researched her on line i was impressed with her clean crisp color tattoos...i found the shop to be a clean, friendly, and asthetically pleasing atmosphere... when i spoke with meg about my tattoo, she listened and offered ideas and in the end i ended up with a far better tattoo than i ever thought was possible... she was extemely professional, kind, curtious, accomidating and funny... as was the entire shop. it really felt like a family... you can tell everyne there loves what they do and where and who they work with.... they truly emphasized wanting the best tattoo to leave the shop, wether it was tradional or portrait,or done by this artist or that artist... all the astists and workers had no problem letting us know who would do the best version of the style of tattoo we wanted... the shop has a great "old-timey" feel to it, and is covered in original paintings and "flash" as well as an extensive library of books for ideas...and as i looked around, i noticed the awards throughout meg's room as well as the shop, and learned that every tattoo artist there is award winning.... bottom line.. i had a great experiance and an amazing tattoo and will be going back for more... i would reccomend anyone to this shop... i really felt comfortable there and with all the employees..... thanks again for the great tattoo meg!!! see u soon... mike d.

I am mainly writing this review to emphasize my positive experience with artist Tony Klett at this shop. He has designed and tattooed two pieces for me, and I am highly pleased with the results. While his portfolio (accessible through his website) reflects a more traditional style of tattoo design - neo-traditional if you will - with bold lines and colors, I can speak from experience that he is also skilled in designing a tattoo in any style you might prefer. Experts agree: I've noticed at least a few convention awards on his wall. I have recommended him to a number of friends, and I am sure you would be eager to do the same after any interaction with him. If it's your first tattoo he will certainly put you at ease, and it you're a tattoo veteran add a TEK original to your collection.
Finally, I agree with the highly positive reviews of the shop. It is very clean, the staff has always been very professional, friendly, and skilled (in contrast to the one negative review, stating to be wary of which artist you choose). The wall decor and a television that plays a constant rotation of movies will entertain any friend you might bring along with you for moral support. Its got a great location in Phoenix, with a personal parking lot.
All in all, I can say nothing but good things about the shop and Tony.

I recently visited Tony Klett at Love and Hate for my first tattoo and was wowed. The shop was extremely clean, organized and the staff is always friendly. Tony was very professional and respectful, an amazing artist and a lot of fun to work with. I am ecstatic with the outcome of my tattoo and have received multiple compliments in regards to how well it is done in just the few weeks I've had it. I would absolutely recommend Tony and Love and Hate to anybody looking for a an incredible tattoo and a great experience getting it.

I received my second tattoo from Eric last Friday. He is a great artist that has perfected his craft. He will give you a completly unique tattoo everytime! I will go anywhere he goes. This was my first visit to Love & Hate Tattoo. The shop has been cleaned up but is a bit crowded. But everyone there is friendly and you are sure to get a good laugh or two while you are there. I will return and would recommend Eric Skramstad to anyone who wants a real peice of art on their body, no matter how big or small!

I went to Phoenix and got a tattoo at Love & Hate Tattoo Parlor, and Its some of the best work Ive ever seen. The shop was organized and clean and when it was time to get down to business it was all great from there. The artist that did my work was the super talented Danny Ross. In the quarters he works in was filled with artwork and pictures or work that proves his talent, He took his time and meticulously placed the letters and whatnot in place and made sure it was to my satisfaction. He was careful and professional and did a spectacular job. I highly recommend him to anybody who wants to get a tattoo by the best. He understands that a tattoo is for life and should be of the highest quality. Thank you Danny Ross, you have my up most respect. Your friend, Juan Wysong.

I have been to Love and Hate twice in the past couple of months (I followed my GREAT tattoo artist Eric from another shop). The shop is unassuming, not pompous/full of itself. It is all about the ink - and the work here is excellent. Everyone is straight with you regardless of the topic and did I mention the artists are extremely skilled at their profession. If you are looking for lattes or espresso at a tattoo shop, then you are really not interested in the actual ink after all. But if amazing ink and cool people are more important, then I highly recommend Love and Hate. I live in North Scottsdale and could go to any number of other shops between my house and downtown but this is the place for my canvas to go

Let me start by saying that I am NOT a stranger to tattoo shops, I've been to many! Eric Skramstad has been my tattoo artist for a few years now and he resently switched shops. So I visited Love & Hate Tattoo for the first time yesterday. Lets start off with the location, it's right off the highway and easy to find...perfect!
With private parking in the rear of the shop i knew that my car would be safe.
The owner is a down to earth straightforward kind of guy, as is Eric. Both of these guys will tell you exactly what you want to know about their art without being pompous, cocky or just filling your head with garbage that they think you WANT to hear.
Eric is a great artist, his work stands out, it doesn't just look like a bumper sticker that was just placed on your skin. Being open minded to the client's ideas & mixing his ideas & experience leaves you with a piece of art, not just a regular tattoo. Eric has covered up two of my old faded tattoos, and i have yet to find anyone that can tell that it was a cover-up. Check out his portfolio pictures, they speak for themselves.

Short and Sweet. Love and Hate is the best tattoo shop I have gone into. The artist I go to is Eric, I have been going to Eric for the past 4 years and his work is unbelievable. I always get great compliments on my tattoos. All of the staff at Love and Hate is very professional and the shop is really clean. I had a chance the last time I was in to talk to the owner, who is a down to earth guy and very respectable. He was very professional and I didn't feel like I was talking to someone who thought they were better than me. I had a normal conversation with a normal guy. Anyways the shop is great........KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!

I walked into Love & Hate a few months ago and found that the shop had changed dramatically. It looks like a complete renovation took place. The shop is sophisticated and modern but has a cool, old school sailor type appeal that you just don't see in tattoo shops anymore. The owner must have put out some major money on acquiring his new staff. I learned that within the past year he has recruited three new artists. The first artist is Meg, in doing my research I found that she is nationally recognized and known for her traditional tattoo work. I also looked at different nationwide conventions and saw her name numerous times in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The second artist Danny is also recognized for his black and grey work. He does some of the best portraits I have seen in a very long time. The last artist is Eric. Eric is a gentle giant, hes about 7 feet tall and acts like a puppy. His work is amazing, he does that realistic look with no outline. He mentioned he was booked out for a long time and I see why. I always worried about walking into shops and having the first artist I see tattoo me in fear of why they aren't working on someone else. At Love and Hate all of the artist are stunning. The last thing that really appealed to me about the shop was the cleanliness. The artists all mentioned how they would like to change Arizona laws to enforce sterilization. This shop takes no short cuts in professionalism, safety, detail, and pride. Check out their myspace and you will see what I'm talking about.

Okay, So I'm not a review writer but I absoutly had to write a review here!
Everywhere I go, people compliment me on my tattoos and ask where I got them done.
Seriously, All I hear is how they are the are the best tattoos they've ever seen and all are amazed how vibrant the colors are and how amazing the detail is!
I have ?almost? (still in progess) a half sleeve of flowers and butterflies. (yes I'm a girl) I have not had any touch up on it and the colors are POW! Just as bright as 2 years ago when I started it!
My Artist at Love and Hate is Eric. I have been getting tattoos from him for over 2 years and I would'nt go anywhere else. He is kind, patient and just an incredible artist and person.
As far as his work goes it?s unparalleled and my phenomenal tattoos are proof! His portrait work is also out of this world!
Everyone at Love and Hate is passionate about their work, their clients and truly listen to their wants and needs.
It's an easy going, comfortable athmotsphere with lots of funny stuff going on to keep you occupied. lol
Love and Hate is always an awesome experience with amazing tattoos and awesome customer service.
Do not hesitate to go there!

I've gotten two tattoos from this place in the past year and there is a reason why I went back for a second one. The shop is clean and has it's own unique feel to it which separates itself from most tattoo shops. Their prices are reasonable and the work they have done for me is amazing. I always have people asking me about my tattoos and asking where I got them. If you're looking for a tattoo this is the place to go. Ask for Danny Ross and you won't be dissapointed.
