We have been eating at Frank's for about twenty five years now. In the past, the lines would be out the door, you would have to give your name and wait for a table. All those days are gone now and it is obvious why. Frank's was always known for LARGE portions and great home made soup. The owner is now cutting corners so, that the soup is plain water, only luke warm, and the large portions of Chicken Parm that Frank's was known for, have now shrunk to almost half the size they were. When we went we always lately had to bring along some chicken bullion to add to our soup. Sandwiches are also not a good choice since the meat is rationed out and an Italian Hoagie that used to be great, now only has one slice of each lunch meat, making it a bread sandwich. A tossed salad is also rationed out to one piece of tomato, one thin slice of cucumber, etc. The owner makes the waitresses take the tossed salad into the kitchen to ask the cook for a slice of tomato to make sure they don't give out more than one. If you plan on using the coupons that the owner puts in the Northeast times or on his own website for Frank's, you must pay with cash only since he does not want to pay the credit card company's fee. Also you must have the coupon from the website printed out or he won't accept it from your phone. Yes, that is how bad it has become at Franks. It is a shame since it was always a nice place to eat. The help is always upset since the owner is constantly hounding them in front of the customers. I feel sorry for them. The owner is not Italian, he is Greek. Don't waste your money or time going to Franks. The prices are very high considering the quality and portions. The owner is not taking the interest that he once did, and cutting corners is certainly not the way to go.
if you like Italian food do not look any further 21 s. Pennsylvania ave. LaVILLa . Gino owner & cook WILL BLOW YOUR MIND WITH HIS GREAT TASTIN…
We went here for restaurant week. I got to this restaurant before the people I was eating with so I went to the bar. They had a good happy hour, where I got a martini. It was strong and tasted good. There are outside and inside seats. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. I had the fried egg plant and it was good. My entree was the gnocchi and it was a really big dish. I took half of it home so I could have room for dessert. The cannoli was really good! The other people I went with also raved about their dishes. If you park above the restaurant they will validate your parking.Definitely recommend this nice place.
If I were to write a review I would write about three topics; atmosphere, food, and service. The atmosphere is extremely romantic and calm and is perfect for bringing your loved one for a nice romantic dinner. The food was outstanding both times I have been there and is prepared perfectly. The service has been amazing each time we go there from the tableside made salads to the waiters and waitresses. Our waiter Keith was extremely quick, polite, down to earth, and had amazing recommendations for me and my girlfriend. Amazing restaurant and our favorite!
Little Nonna"s - for an Italian restaurant to charge $2 for 4 pieces of grilled bread and $25 for less than a half carafe of what was probably a jug wine, I'll never ever patronize this place again. Everything was overpriced for what they gave you. Most Italian restaurants especially in South Philadelphia after you left you were completely full and took enough home for another meal at a very reasonable price.
I have been to the Bistro for my birthday and also for some of my friends special occasions. I always have a wonderful time and the atmosphere is not stuffy. Yet sometimes my decisions in food orders have been excellent to just satisfactory. I am not sure if it is just my tastebuds that peticular evening or not. Nevertheless it has always been a night to remember.
I want to Thank Oteri's Bakery for a Job well done. My Wife 50th Birthday Cake was not only Beautiful, it was also Delicious. The cake was made on Saturday 6-25-16. Four Days later it's still as Fresh as it was when We first cut it... I would not only recommend Oteri's Bakery... I stand by their product... Trust (ME) you won't be disappointed...Mr Smith
My fourth time eating at Eatalia and it was another delicious meal. It is a small BYOB tucked away behind Port Richmond shopping center with a very unassuming appearance but don't let that fool you. Our server Shawn was very attentive couldn't have been more pleasant and all of our entrées were delicious. We all will definitely be back again.
Bistro Romano is amazing. It is the best place to go to eat before or after visiting the Walnut Street Theater. Great show, the amazing dinner. I brought two friends who had never been to Bistro Romano before and they loved the food. Our server Keith was wonderful. We had a fantastic time as always.
Keith was our server and I would (if I could) appoint him to our home waitstaff. He was simply marvelous! Keith is well informed on foods, flavors and tastebuds. He was simply entertaining when he made the Caesars Salad tableside and offered tips for doing so at home. Keith is at the top of his game.
As we showed up an hour late for our reservation and with two extra guests, the staff was accommodating and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious, especially the crab-filled ravioli. Portion size was right on and the price was reasonable for the quality of food.
