YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

Lowered Expectations

I waited a long time to try this place and got two friends to do it with me. I arrived first and despite overhearing that the drinks were about $3 (very affordable), ended up with a $12.50 drink that was more than enough for two people - the waitress obviously didn't know how to make it and it was very strong and nasty unlike the delicious drink I've had elsewhere. My friends show up only to find out that the kitchen closed early that day. Karaoke was that night and we listened to the same people sing over and over and back to back. A staff member convinced us to look through the book and we each picked out a song that we would do together like the other groups of friends before us. NOt only do we end up waiting while others who turned in songs after us went up and sang their hearts out but at some point are asked to find our own songs in the book even though they were both there as clear as day. No problem but we get up there and for some reason STILL have to wait while the learning disabled dj located our songs - we struggled through one that we thought would be fun but when it came time for the second one, suddenly the rules had changed and we weren't permitted to do song number two. It was a very disappointing night as far as the actual establishment and staff - very unprofessional and we felt slighted. Additionally the bathrooms were filthy and disgusting, smelling horrible, dirty floors and facilities and barely any toilet paper. AS if that weren't enough both of the stall doors are broken so if you can't go in with a friend I guess you get to flash and splash who ever is on the other side of the door. Overall if you have absolutely nothing to do and already live nearby, don't have to use the bathroom, don't expect courtesy or professionalism, or possibly even food and don't mind if the rules chage after you've sat through everyone ele's performance, maybe you'll like it. Fortunately this is a big city so there's so much else to do! I would rate this place as a jip!

a response to that review

Well if I was you, I would not take that person's review serious at all. How can you rely on what somebody says that goes to a neighborhood bar and orders a drink that cost $12.50 a real airhead and obviously blind as a bat. There is no free pour at Sheba's, each drink even if you are ordering a Long Island Iced Tea, each bottle that tilts in your drink, you are charged. You need to get out more often. As for people looking for your music in a book, you cannot read either? I laugh at you, you think if you hand the KJ not DJ (as you referred to a KJ as, again who has a learning disability 5 slips, you are supposed to sing all of your songs you are seriously WRONG, you need to go to an OPEN MIC where you have allotments of time. You are right on one thing, the ladies room doors do need to be fixed. I am glad we live in a BIG city with plenty of things to do. You will not have to visit again. Besides when it gets BIG and it WILL you'll be back and your friend and I suppose your complaint then will be you and your friend had to stand. Go back to the karaoke you came from that looks for your songs in their one book, eat some food, lets you sing all of your songs together even if it is more than 3 and by the way if you have to splash in the bathroom, maybe you should try the men's room

New Deck Tavern

great place!

No where else can you walk in and feel comfortable and at home immediately. The staff is friendly, smart and service is great. The food is always great and the bartenders are fast and friendly. The only downside might be it gets so busy sometimes there is a wait for a table (obviously it's got a great rep!). As I read these reviews i am laughing at the "genius" who went to Drexel who is complaining about the drink specials. New Deck isn't a sloppy college pub and the "owner" is a restaurant group who also owns SLAINTE PUB (means cheers in gaelic) at the corner of 30th and Market so this self proclaimed "insider" who claims the "owner" left this to some daughter doesn't have his facts straight. Poor guy .. maybe he's just bummed that New Deck remains a predominantly Penn grad school/HUP/Law school crowd and this guy just wants somewhere he can puke on a floor .. head to Cavanaughs buddy! And for anyone else reading this, head to New Deck and you'll understand what all of the excitement is about and why it's the most famous bar in University City, if not Philadelphia!!

Great Atmosphere, Fun Experien...

Great Atmosphere, Fun Experience! My husband and I wandered in while on vacation in Philly. Period costumes were charming, food & beverage served on/in pewter added to the experience, as did the complementary, 3 breads the waitress brought out, each with its own story/history that she shared. I ordered a pasta w/seafood - great presentation, high quality food. We tried a historical/colonial beverage called "Shrub "which was quite good, and I even bought the restaurant cookbook, in part because I wanted the recipe for one of the breads they served. Would give this 5 starts, if staff were more friendly and hospitable. I complimented hostess twice on her period costume - and she couldn't have not heard - and she ignored me. Waitress was nice enough, but not terribly attentive, and was liking to brag to other tables about what a history genius she is -- when you're a waitress, just be friendly and bring out food and drinks, don't attempt to impress anyone with your hobbies.

I am black and had a great time!

My co-workers' son is starting his own music production company and they had an album release party, the place was very nice and easy to find. Every one there was black expect two bar tenders. We had a blast, my husband and i are thinking about holding a party there ourselves. The only problem was that the bar tenders were clueless about some of the drinks I asked for and never buy a long island ice tea it tastes like dirt water and the drinks are a bit expensive. Usually when we go out we befriend the bartenders but I was not feeling the (black) bartender we wasn't that friendly even though his drink he made was the best i had that night. Actually the white older guy was very nice, like bartenders are supposed to be. Overall we enjoyed ourselves maybe the guy from the first review was there on a bad night. Chester ave is kind of in "the hood" they have no room to discriminate.

Great food at really good pric...

Great food at really good prices! The first time I went to Mc Manamin's Tavern was when I was working across the street at a gallery that was freezing in the winter. This was before Germantown Avenue was chic like it is now! I had the chili there, and I swear it was the best chili I had ever had! SInce then, I've been there so many times because the food is always on point. The fries are delicious, when they have fish, it's fresh and not at all prepared like a bar. It's just a nice, neighborhood place that you could take a date (if you were so inclined), or go to with your peeps and watch a game!

Welcome addition

About 10 of us went in after work last thursday. We sat outside and had a great time, the staff was friendly and very well adapt for such a new spot. I must say that I loved the fish tacos! I was happy to see that it was freshly grilled fish! The selection of beer was also very impressive, not many places in the city have 16 beers on tap. A large selection of local brews as well as some belgiums! I must say that this is a welcome addition that this neighborhood needed and we plan on making this a regular happy hour spot!

Fun Times Had By All

Come as you are and have an amazing time....everytime!! From the windows that open right onto Chestnut Street to the friendly bartenders and Elvis memorobilia, Drinker's is a neighborhood favorite. The happy hour crowd is always having a great time, myself included, and the drink specials make it possible to celebrate without regret. This is the place that makes sure you never take yourself to seriously b/c it's all about having fun without the stuffiness found in other Rittenshouse spots. Drinker's=Great Times!!

Personally, this place deserves 10 plus stars across the board. They are consistent, clean, personable and for the most part accommodating. Heads up for yall first timers.....They get busy on weekends and during concert/sporting events so: Reserve in advance. upon entering get a drink at the bar ( cash only) take it to your table when you get there. . I highly recommend their pizza, the antipasto, ribs and bbq sausage. You will add this place to your favorite places.

The steaming bucket of juice that comes with your order is an added pleasure also the staff and service were impeccable. A family atmosphere where everyone is welcome! Almost forgot you have to have their spicey shrimp it comes with bread to suck up the extra juice, very delicious. I'll be back!
