Please Please please do not donate your time or money to this corporation. Specifically their education division. They are suppose to provide tutoring and after school care as well as summer camp. Congresso is a community staple in the hispanic urban neighborhood of north philly and are very well known to provide the community with eductional resources and work support but lately they have been lacking to do so , well. As a teacher I have seen their employees of the after school program and summer camp leave children unsupervised and not help them with homework or academics. Employees are on their cell phones while students are vandalizing teachers personal property that they have purchased. They vandalize the beautiful classroom that are lent to them to use by the school that your children are taught in during the day. Not taking any responsibility for their lack of supervision , responsibility and classroom management. I have been a victim of their classroom vandalism . As a professional teacher who has worked in the same building as this corporation I strongly advise that you do NOT use their services for your child. You will be left very disappointed and your child possibly hurt and definitely uneducated. They need to work on their hiring process for these programs. The director is horrible and the employees are not trained. They need to be shut down before a child is hurt.
Last week, Officer Diehl of the 9th mini-station was extremely helpful in working with pet rescue on behalf of a kitten that was being neglected. With the officer's help, we were able to get the kitten life saving medical treatment. Later on, when I visited the mini-station to say thank you, all of the officers were very welcoming and kind. This experience was an example of police work done right, and I am grateful to the officers at the mini-station on 905 South Street for helping to make this happen.
Preiss Designs completed chimney repair and pointing on my 90+ year old stone house, as well as replacement of a sidewalk block pushed up by a large tree root. Before the work began, Steven offered options and ideas for each of the projects, soliciting my opinion, guiding my decision-making with pros and cons of each option. Steven and his craftsmen worked diligently and meticulously, restoring the character of the chimney to the original structure. Steven and his workers were fastidious in their work, attention to detail showing in the end result. My sidewalk repair presented more of a quandary. In order to replace the sidewalk block pushed up by a long-standing tree, I risked loosing the tree by cutting the root severely in order to allow enough space for a replacement concrete block. Steven surveyed the situation and offered several options. One of the several ideas he offered was an alternative that included cutting the root less severely, and instead of a deep concrete block, replacing the walkway with pieces of thinner slate stone to even out the walkway. I LOVE the result. A neighbor walking on the sidewalk stopped at the block of the walkway that Steven created and exclaimed "I wish the whole neighborhood walk was like this".
If I am ever on a jury, I shall acquit all defendants if the only evidence against them is the testimony of a Philadelphia police officer. It is not that I want criminals to walk, but rather that Philly cops are themselves perjuring law breakers who cannot be believed. Anyone who watches television news reports or viral videos knows what I am talking about.
They reimburse way less than all other agencies. They give you children with severe disabilities but pretend they don't have any disabilities so that they can cheat you out of getting paid a bigger reimbursement. They also make you keep children way longer than you agreed to. Which could really mess you up if you had to go to work or had plans. Lastly, no one told me that these children had aids which I think is very important to know.
