OMG! That is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of my very first visit to this amazing restaurant!!! My boyfriend and I were in town for my birthday, the big 28! We went to the Mets Phillies game that day (we are huge Mets fans) and the Mets won, WOO HOO! We were having the best day and I had made reservations the day prior. I spoke with I think Patrick to make the reservation, it was very easy and he was very helpful. I told him we were coming to town to celebrate my birthday. I told him we were staying at the Doubletree; he even made sure I had the correct directions to get there! Nice guy. We arrived to the restaurant about 30 minutes early. I was prepared to wait but Lauren sat us right away! She was VERY knowledgeable and walked us through the whole menu. Being first timers to the Melting Pot the menu can be a bit intimidating, but she was very through and made sure all of our questions were answered. I was also surprised to see a card lying on the table saying “Happy Birthday” WOW what a place. It was a personalized card wishing me Happy Birthday from the whole Melting Pot team…very much appreciated! We then met Terry our server. What a nice guy! He was very pleasant and easy going and made our visit extra special! He again made sure we had no questions and when we did, answered every one with a smile! The meal experience was so fun! This is the first time my boyfriend and I have ever done anything like this and it will not be the last! The rest of the team was also very attentive. Whenever we had an empty dish, it did not sit on the table for long! Someone would come over right away and take any dirty dishes. About half way through our meal the Manager Alexis stopped by to check on us and to ask how everything was going. We gave her an earful! We were ranting and raving about our visit thus far. She was very sweet and asked us if we needed anything at all. The Melting Pot is very lucky to have people like Terry, Lauren and Alexis working for them. Lastly, I HAVE to mention how special Terry made our dessert. He heard that we were Mets fans when we first got there and really put his creativity to work. He served our dessert on plates that had the Mets decal under plastic wrap!! !!! WOW! It was something so small that made my night PERFECT! He was truly great and next time we go back we will be asking for Terry. Everyone was so great and made my birthday extra special! When we were leaving I was given a cute little candle and a coupon to come back again, greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the extra time and going the extra step for your customers….we do notice!

Great food

The waitresses were very friendly. They made sure that we understood how to order since it was our first time there. The food was outstanding, especially their spinach or artichoke dip for appetizer. The chocolate fondue is to die for. I would definitely go back again.

good times

before going to this restaurant, i read a review that warned diners to only go with people they enjoyed spending time with. after a 3 hour dining experience, i am glad that i took that advice. service was friendly and satisfactory. they clearly explained everything that went into fondue, and came quickly when we had problems or questions. food takes a long time to cook though, leaving a lot of lull time that is best filled with conversation.

i wouldn't recommend this place for a first date, but if you're going with a group of friends, it's a great way to unwind and enjoy each other's company

Great Time, Every Time!

After reading some of the reviews on this place I can tell its definitely not for everyone, but I have been here multiple times and have ALWAYS received GREAT service and food. A little pricey, but you have to remember you are paying for the experience, don't forget to bring some extra $$ for your server, because they work their butts off!! I would recommend this restaurant for couples because of its romantic atmosphere.

Lots of Fun

I think this is a great novelty restaurant. The first time you go there is a lot of explaination; but if you ever go again- it makes a lot more sense. The staff is always looking to please and offers you lots of extras if you ask for them. That goes for the dippers during the cheese and dessert!! wahoo. I think anyone who goes there should of course know what type of restaurant it is. You do cook the dinner yourself, and use the sauces yourself. If that is not your style- don't go there. I can understand if you wouldn't like doing 'work' but don't bash the whole concept. I like mixing it up sometimes and think it's awesome!

Poor quality food, poor presentation, but good service

It's not the raw food per se...its the overly perky Applebee's type wait staff, the poor presentation, the plastic jar of Garlic/Wine powder placed at your table, the dipping sauces, and the quality of the food that is the problem.

The place looks nice so thats a bonus, it smelled bad thats not so good. Lets start with the first course. The fondue is mixed by your perky waitress at the table, she was no chef! She stirred and stirred with her little fork (I felt bad). The raw garlic overpowered the cheese fondue, and the fondue was grainy. They gave you stale bread cubes (at least get some quality bread please), a couple of baby carrots, a couple of pieces of califlower, 2 chunks of celery, and some granny smith apple. All in crappy little bowls.

The salad was a small salad mix from a bag with a couple of unflavorful roma tomato slices, a few specks of goat cheese, couple of walnuts (all in all the best part of the meal, sad to say) but then they topped it off with bottled rasberry vineagrette. I was surprised they didn't hawk the dressing to buy and take home.

Next, the main course. The waitress was nice enough to substitute out the beef and replace with salmon and mahi mahi. Now I got no problem with raw fish. I eat sushi and sashimi all the time, what I have a problem with is poor quality. I wouldn't eat anything presented to me raw (and your not supposed to, but that is a reasonable quality test). The shrimp were small, the fish was nondescipt, the lobster small and coated with some reddish powder, the salmon greyish. We picked the seasoned broth. I have had better boiled seafood at home and nicer bigger shrimp from Costco.

The evening was not a total loss. I complained, the manager was apologetic and stated that ""it's"" not for everybody. She waived the entire bill, I gave the perky server a $20. We never made it to dessert, I suggest you never make it to Filbert St!!

NOT recommended

Hey MizMelissa,
First of all, when you are writing a review...LEARN HOW TO SPELL!!!..
I agree with DestinyChild...That place is horrible and over priced
The Definition of FONDUE is quote:
""food dipped into a container: a dish eaten by dipping small pieces of food into the contents of a container usually melted cheese, hot oil, or a sauce, placed on the table"" .....It doesn't say it has to be RAW food that needs to be cooked..And as for culture or knowledge of foods.. Different strokes for different folks.. Get a Grip!!!
That's the whole point of going out to dinner, so you won't have to COOK your own food!!!!!...

Destinyschild..... not worth listening too you sound like the biggest idiot on the planet. It is a FONDU restaurant. Did you really think your food was going to come out cooked. The point of fondu is that you cook it yourself! The meltingpot is awsome. Its fun and they have an amazing wine list. I feel sorry for this location for getting a bad rep all because of the stupidity of someone who obviously has no culture or knowlage of food. ok, why dont you go to maggiannos for some non authentic crappy food. and stay there.

Worst Place Ever

This was the worst dining experience ever.... We started out with being shown to the bar, while we waited for a table.. the hostess was pretty nice and the staff was friendly. We waited for about 20 minutes, enough to have a couple of Martinis' which surprisingly were pretty good. Well at $10.00 a pop, they should be.
The first entree was a cheddar cheese with a Beer base, which was pretty yucky, wine would of been better.. the dippers were chunked apples, celerey, carrots& califlower, not my favorite fruit nor any of my favorite veggies, the bread was hard & crusty... I guess so the cheese wouldn't fall off while you dip it..
The next entree was salad, in which the lettuce was pretty limp and wilted, dressing not very good..
The main course came, which to my surprise was raw and uncooked.. I ordered the shrimp & sirlion and my husband ordered the sirlion.. HELLO, haven't you heard of salmonella...We had to dip our raw meat and shrimp into the same Fondue so that it would cook. Which the fondue took forever to heat up. We had to guess as to how long this meat was going to take to cook in boiling water...The waitress told us 1 minute to 2 for well done.. That was questionable.
My husband does not like seafood, so I had to wait until he cooked his sirloin first, before I could cook my shrimp, which took forever.
His sirlion came out, with a grayish color and the fondue seasoning was not good, boiled water and garlic with herbs... forget about taking home a doggy bag
I think they need to cook the food and bring it to the table and then you can have the option of dipping your chunked entree's into the Fondue mixture
Finally the dessert came ..The dessert was left to be desired,,, the pinapple was canned, marshmellows is not something I enjoy as an adult for desert. Strawberry's were ok
All in all , it was a bad experience...... too overpriced..
Don't waste your money...
