Yesterday, I had Gil fix a tattoo that I have been unhappy with for over 10 years. I have received tattoos in 5 different shops, most of which I was fine with, but I will NEVER go to anyone else again.
Gil managed to take this tattoo that was lifeless and lacked any pop and made it into a work of art. He took his time and literally transformed this thing. I couldn't be happier with his work. To top it all off, I had a really fun 4 1/2 hours hanging with Gil and the other people at Tattoo Odyssey.

Gil has been my one and only artist and will remain so for as long as he lives. All my sisters and I only go to this man because he is the only one we trust with the gun. I've gotten all 5 of my tattoos from him only (the oldest being 8 years ago) and they still look fresh and new as ever. THAT's quality.
He's not only very experienced but he is very honest and patient. He tells it like it is and will never let you walk away with something he doesn't approve of.
His studio is also very different because he doesn't do walk-ins. He is well worth the wait because he will take your idea and turn it into a masterpiece by the time the machine touches your skin.
I am convinced Gil is the only man I trust enough to turn my body into a work of art that deserves to be in the Louvre. And letting anyone else get near me with an ink gun would be cheating on him.
As I've said before, BEST of the BEST.

Was not long ago my oldest son approached me and said he wanted to get a Tattoo. He was 25 yrs old. As someone who has there share of forbiden ink it took me only about 30 seconds to tell my son I had no problem with allowing him but I did have one condition. That was he was to use the same studio as I do. That would be Tattoo Odyssey. The artist and owner (Gil ) and I go back 25 yrs and I dont think there is a more passionate person in the business. There is always a waiting period but it is always worth the wait. That was last year this year my youngest son asked if he could get a tattoo he is 22 yrs old same story another great job. Im sure some of you may be saying why are you allowing your kids get tattooed. Well times have changed and skin art is no longer looked at as representing something or someone bad. So with that being said I just wanted them to get the best they could and something they would not regret later in life. Gil you are a true artist and as a dad I thank you for the fine art work you did for all of us. Tim

I would like to say that Gil is the most proffesional tattoo artist i ever meet. I was getting a portiat of my mom who ment the world to me. Gil understood this. He took his time and was very detailed oriented. This by far is the best tattoo i ever gotten. The tattoo looks just like her picture. Its amazing !!!! I am so impressed i cant even put it in words. If you are looking for the best look no further. Gil at Tattoo Odyssey has you covered. I f you have never been there i stongly suggest you do. Thanks again Gil i appreciate the time and effort you put in to this tattoo. Joe G
This place is the best! My boyfriend and I both got touch up tattoo's from Manny, and he is AMAZING at touch ups & cover ups. This shop is so friendly, and nothing beats the jokes they all like to tell to make you feel comfortable. It's a real homey shop, very sanitary, and very relaxed. They don't charge by hour, only by piece, which is nice too because if you need a smoke, you can have one. All in all I would recommend this place to everyone. They're EXTREMELY cheap, and the work is amazing.
what more can i say. i agree with everybody else. went to south street and got scared at prices and lack of humility there. found Gil using reviews online (tks everybody now my turn to write one) and went there for the best experience ever. he listened to what i wanted and why i wanted it: my beloved horse and dog. the delay was long but it didn't matter! what's few months when u get the best tattoo for life? i was afraid of the sketch because i'm no artist but i listened to why he did it the way he did and got blown away by his logic. he not only did a remarkable job at drawing them but the layout proved that he had listened and understood me (the size and placement of one versus the other, the location of the tattoo EVERYTHING was thought for, he explained it to me and i loved that he took the time to justify his choices to me). then came tattoo time. again Gil is great 3.5hrs later i was ecstatic, 1month later i'm happier than ever with it! his aftercare advice were great and helped because i knew what to expect. overall i love the guy! i would recommend to anyone and my friends are sold.
I never thought i would get a tattoo but when my wife passed away. I wanted something to honor my wife. I went to a couple of tattoo shops, just to see what was out there. I went to Tattoo Odyssey in June, the personal was professional & friendly. i was nervous at first but Gil assured me everything would be fine & it was. I just want to say that the tattoo is great ! I glad i got it. If i ever want another tattoo, this is the place to go.. ( plus Gils' music is my kind of music, lol )
Manny does excellent work! I had read the reviews about Gil but when I went for my tattoo I got Manny. He was awesome! Very polite, proffesional, precise and cared about me being totally happy with his work. I had 1done at Pops Place and was disapponted. I also had 1 doneat Pop Corns and the guy totally messed it up but Many fixed it and now it looks great and I told him I absolutely love the new one he did! He said he learned from Gil! I will go back to him from now on, and would highly reccomend him to everyone!

After visiting other tattoo shops, I thought I would never get a tattoo because the people giving the tattoos did not seem to listen to what I said. Gil is very thorough and cares about what you want to get (and a nice person). After all, this is going to be on your body for the rest of your life. I am glad I decided to stop in because I probably would not have gotten a tattoo else where. I got an awesome cross. This is the only place I will go to for my next tattoo.

I went to Gil for a consult after getting a completely ridiculous quote from No Ka Oi Tikki (Body Graphics) at 4th & South. The artist there must think she is a rock star--wanting to charge me $800-$1200! Totally absurd. I am so glad I went to Tattoo Odyssey instead. They are extremely professional, clean and friendly. Best yet, the sketch Gil did for me was almost identical to what the Body Graphics person came up with and he priced it in a very reasonable range. I only had to wait a few weeks for the appointment and the staff was great about rearranging my time after I realized I had a conflict. I was in the shop for 4 hrs, and it was super fun. Gil was really easy going and asked me numerous times if I was comfortable, which I was--he must have the lightest touch in tattooing. It felt more like I was hanging out with an old friend than getting tattooed. Every time he wanted to add something or change something, he got me up and gave me a mirror to ask if it was OK--very cool. And, the best part is my tattoo is spectacular! He even touched up my old tattoo and the two look like they were done together. It barely bled, and I hardly had any itching or peeling. By day 2, it looked like I had it for months. He's an amazing artist, very professional and an all around great guy. Don't even consider going anywhere else!

I have to say, choosing a tattoo, and artist was a long process for me. I had a bad tattoo done and i wanted to be sure that it didnt happen again. After lots of research I decided to meet with Gil from tattoo odyssey. I took the 45 minute drive there, met Gil, we went over my idea, he made some changes to it so it would be exactly how i wanted it. His work is absolutely the BEST. You cannot even tell I had a tattoo before, it completely dissappeard. I would highly recommend his shop to anyone, and now i feel confident that i have someone i can trust on my next tattoo. Thanks again Gil. Also his shop is very clean, and has a great atmosphere, Nikki was great to deal with in scheduling, and any other questions i had. If i could give it more stars i would.

Dr. Gil took the time to find just the right picture of the Shure Microphone I wanted for my tattoo, and proceeded to match the picture down to the last detail.
His exceptional eye caught every detail of the shading, and I have been getting nothing but compliments about the clarity of the tat..
Anyone with an idea for a tattoo should see Dr. Gil, and let him do the rest.
p.s. His office assistant (Nikki) is a sweetie-pie, too.. She'll make sure you're comfortable the whole time

Gil did my first tat in 98. I designed numerous tat's for friends who all went to Tattoo Odyssey to get their ink done. I saw how my work looked on them, it was as if I did it myself. Ok, So i put off getting my second tattoo from Gil b/c I wanted to wait until after the summer... fast forward 12 years... I went back. Never thought to go anywhere else. Over the course of time I did a drawing that was what I wanted it to be. Showed it to Gil. He made a few recommendations. i made an app't. (the app'ts take time, b/c great artists have lots of followers). He expected 5+ hours on this piece. I was ready. he was ready. He said If I was willing to stay late, so was he. He went to work. The work was amazing. Just like he said, it was MY drawing, he was just the guy who tattoo'd it on my arm. I was there about 4 hours and it flew by. He makes you feel comfortable. Makes you laugh. Perfect mix of conversations and concentration... and didn't get annoyed when i asked a ton of questions (at least to my face, lol). I am already rolling my hamster wheel on my next tattoo and I know that Tattoo Odyssey is where I am going to get it. If you want one, get one. TATTOO ODYSSEY.

I've wanted to get a foot tattoo for a while, however, I wanted to go somewhere close to home. I began my search on-line, of course. Searching to find the right parlor. I came across Tattoo Odyssey, which had excellent reviews. I scheduled my appointment and I am very pleased with my tattoo. Dr. G. not only did great detailed work on my foot tattoo, he also recolored and changed the name on another one of my tattoos. Next week I am going to schedule my next appointment for him to fix the strawberry 'that's not' and create the Egyptian Eye on my right shoulder blade.

I' ve been going to Gil for twenty years. He has the talent and experance you want in a tattooest. If you have an idea he will let you know how to make it look the best with color and placement. Gil does fantastic cover ups,and loves a challage. He knows what colors to use to make your tattoo pop, but his black work is unriveled. To fine better quality work would be difficult if not impossible. The best is right here in phila pa.
